There were some horrific VAR calls across the board over the weekend in the other games but they actually benefited us. Nick Walsh is a poor referee, in the game we got pumped 6-1 by Rangers, he gave Stephen O'Donnell two yellows for the only two fouls he made but that Balogun for instance committed a similar foul that went unpunished and he then racked up 5 or 6 more and not even a word was spoken, I felt that was similar again with Cantwell. While we won free kicks in the middle area of the park he wasn't particularly interested in giving us anything in danger zones. They certainly always enjoy the benefit of doubt. The Goldson dive in the first half was hilarious. I know they can't do anything about it as VAR can only intervene in certain circumstances but you wonder if the officials watching in the wee room let refs know if they make a general error. I thought we defended well up until the Tavernier free kick, while Rangers enjoyed plenty of possession it was nice to see them resort to long balls and loads of their crosses kept going out of play. However it was sad that we shot ourselves in the foot. After we equalised it was a real shame that Van Veen missed his effort. I know Kettlewell has asked for clarification on VAR but doubt we will hear.

Is that more conjecture? The young ones had a big banner displayed at the front and back of their section pre match which ran the full length, Rangers fans placed their protest cards on the seats pre match. No one group got more access than the other.
-
That was not the case, a group of them set up the protest cards as soon as they were allowed to enter the stadium. In the Fir Park section and the two sections on either side, you can see the cards being setup.

You constantly post on the forum with apparent in the know knowledge but you generally don't back up your claims and if anyone has a different opinion you belittle them. When arrests were made from the Killie game, I seen the statements from the group suggesting one of the guys wasn't in the country. Has that been proven, because that old chestnut is used frequently when the cops come calling. I'm going back almost a decade here but when Celtic fans tore up the South Stand, when they were subjected to dawn raids that was the same spiel used. It's seldom I have been privy to any Motherwell scoops or insider info but through my work I'm well versed to the goings on with this group amongst other similar things, even putting that to the side all the fans have eyes and see half of the antics they get up too. It seems like they just throw the toys out the pram when they don't get their own way. The player analogy was simply to highlight if you do something wrong then you have to pay the price, tear up a business but play the victim card won't get you much support from the club or fellow fans. In fact I actually find some away days not as enjoyable these days if you get landed near them, they hang about until around three to gather then muscle into a section, this season they have forced a section to be opened at Raith, Killie and Livi. Not much a protest today either as they gathered up the back, with many running down the stairs on the 3rd minute at the goal.

You would be surprised what I know on this issue but I'll leave that as vague as you do with your insider gossip. It kind of reminds me of that time where a supporter lamps Jim Leighton on the pitch then he gets huckled by the police then days later when he gets banned for life he's complaining in a paper that the club didn't support him. The situation in Kilmarnock was embarrassing while it's sad an innocent person might have had an unpleasant wakeup call no accountability was taken on that behaviour they immediately passed the buck when people started to get busted. It's not hard to just behave for 90 minutes at the game or en route to a stadium. Like I said previously I loved it in the past when they were all about the atmosphere. Please correct me if I'm wrong but have they not now had issues with the last few safety officers. In regards to banners etc the club has generally been accommodating to them much more so than other clubs are to there fans. Have they not a similar protest before where they strolled in late, plus I'm sure they done something against Aberdeen in the first VAR game where they threw that ticker tape stuff on the pitch.
-
I'm sorry but I don't agree with them. The behaviour in Kilmarnock earlier in the season was appalling, CCTV footage was widely shared by Ayrshire and Lanarkshire police on social media of numerous fans smashing up a pub, heehaw to do with the club that certain individuals were subjected to dawn raids they were simply traced via that method. They're having a go about being refused entry to the club but has there not been a few displays this season and plenty others in the past, one of which required pulleys over the support beams in the East Stand which was catered for. As for the Rangers game banner tomorrow, the feedback seems to be that they were free to display one but they were refused access to Fir Park to put it together which is fair enough. As far as I'm aware the drum has been to every home game this season, even the young ones in the Cooper stand have one these days, funnily enough I'm sure it was mentioned previously that the guy that they constantly moan about collects the drum at away games to stop it from getting stolen (Ironically enough some of the wee tadgers stole one off of Raith fans). Maybe I'm just getting too old but I throughly enjoyed the atmosphere that they created when McCall was manager but these days its transcended into smoke bombs (we have been chased for cash to repair pitches etc), those ticker tape rolls that they have launched on the pitch delaying the game, fans entering the pitch from that section has risen or generally trying to be wee Stone Island hard men.

I think it's clear how Clarke feels about the likes of Liam Kelly and Zander Clark, there has been a couple of friendlies in recent times that provided an ideal opportunity to test one or the other but he persisted with Gordon. Now he has plucked a guy from the English Championship who has represented England from the U16 level all the way to the U21's who had made it clear before that he wasn't interested in representing Scotland, no doubt he'll be installed as number one which would be a kick in the tadger to the other two.

The dream team of officials this weekend includes referee Nick Walsh, linesman Douglas Ross and Andrew Dallas on VAR. Thoroughly enjoyed the recent form, you would hope another couple of wins would see us safely ensconced in the Premiership for another season. Any points here would be most welcome but it'll be a tough task as per. We did alright in the game at Fir Park earlier in the season before conceding some criminal goals but a lot has changed since then. Out with the defeat to Celtic, they seem to be playing well enough. While it's rare we enjoy a win over the bigots some of the best victories have come when we have been struggling in the league, as mentioned above the Junior Burns winner not to forget the Willie Falconer late goal in the bright kit or Owen Coyle ruining their 9 in a row party. It's about time we beat them again.

Just noticed he was absent from the bench today, I wonder if he is injured or simply wasn't selected. Mandron and Efford should be back for the Rangers game in two weeks. Anyway FT great win.

9 minutes added on.

Exercising the demons, as it was over a year ago that our red card woes started at Dingwall.

GOAL 2-0 VV

Lamie on for Slattery

Red Card for County

Penalty to County then VAR says no, thankfully.

BBC suggesting Dan Casey got a vital touch. First time listening to Open all mics in years. Torture.
-
Sadly I do. I remember thinking that we had won a watch with that one as he had scored for Spurs against the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal, I think most felt that getting consistent football would help him realise his potential. When he joined us he netted a double not long after arriving against Hibs at Easter Road as we got beat 4-2 and it took a few years for him to score again, in fact his next goal would be his last. It's honestly hard to believe that Alex McLeish spent over 2 mill on players.
-
Hopefully we can continue the good form, if we want to get out of this mess then we need to be beating the teams below us. We were generous to both Killie and County in the Fir Park fixtures recently which were a sore one. Kettlewell has picked the same team for three games in a row, after the first half at Rugby Park (albeit a much better second) I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of changes for this one. Lamie and Mandron should be back in the squad for this and Efford is also nearing a comeback. I'm sure Casey and Butcher will be able to nullify the long ball that they do to White. They got a great result against United last weekend but by all accounts it looked like they had downed tools.

Stephen Frail the new assistant manager.

According to Corriere Dello Sport in Italy, Max Johnston apparently has an agreement in place to join Bologna.

I know we have won at Almondvale, Rugby Park, NDP, etc in the past but does anyone actually remember seeing a decent game being played on one of those pitches? It is honestly not a surprise why Killie has managed to get 91% of their points on that. Thoroughly enjoyed that Slattery free kick right in the postage stamp, I thought it was the least we deserved, how many times in the past have we been stung by a late Killie goal. The first half was poor, admittedly I don't what the rules are these days but I thought there were suspicions of offside for the Killie goal as one of their players is well off the field, their attacker strikes the ball which is blocked, and lands to Van Veen and when he goes to clear it that Killie player is back on the pitch to block the clearance. Furlong and Obika passed up some great opportunities but I felt a point was the least we deserved when it was all said and done. It's actually laughable that some Killie vloggers have titled videos daylight robbery and such.

I'm happy to see that his loan spell is going well at Queen's Park but tbf he has played as a striker on numerous occasions for us, it might sound harsh but I think he lacks the quality to play in the top flight. I don't know if it was a confidence thing or that but some of his efforts on goal i.e. in games versus Dundee United, Killie and Livingston were absolutely wild. I think Shankland was only a teenager when he joined them and was constantly farmed out on loan, I think he had a great spell with St Mirren but when he rejoined them for a second spell he struggled. Before this season kicked off I think he only had 7 or 8 top-flight goals. I didn't realise Shields is two years younger than him so there might be hope yet.
-
Liam Fox has left Dundee United, hopefully they don't get to enjoy that new manager bounce. Looking forward to the game, a win would be most welcome. Killie face Rangers and United face Aberdeen this weekend so a great opportunity to open the gap further.
-
I would probably go with Gillespie but I'm sure they will plump for Loris Karius to play, despite his champions league horror show a few years back.

The game at Tynecastle was frustrating, they played with ten men for such a long spell but managed to go two goals in front, they were fortunate with the first goal as Halliday had headed it out and they got a corner (obv should still defend better) not to mention Gordon should have received a second yellow when he brought down Moult for the pen. They got a 90th min pen which was harsh as Solholms arms were down by his side, if Clancy gives that then he should be giving the one Sibbick blocked ten mins earlier. It feels like we have had a fairly decent record against them at Fir Park the last few years, it'll no doubt be a tough fixture and we will probably need to go beyond Wednesday's efforts to secure the three points. Hard to believe it's going back slightly over 20 years, but I remember we had gone on a winless league run of 12 games (1 draw in that rub) and we met high-flying Hearts in 3rd place and blew them away 6-1. We have been blowing away great chances of points in recent weeks against sides that were on equally bad runs as us, it would be refreshing to get a win when it's not expected and I think we will. 2-1 to the Steelmen.
