  1. People and companies from outside the support just giving money to the Well Society is pie in the sky stuff. Not going to happen. It might have been possible 20 years ago but not in the current financial climate in the UK. It's also worth remembering that the club have full time staff whose job it is to seek out potential sponsors and commercial partners. We don't want to have the club and society competing for sponsors.
  2. Generally the way lawyers work is you pay them to say what you want. This proposal clearly goes against the constitution and the process has been shambolic so it should be open and shut.
  3. I thought with the talk of legal advice on Friday they were going to bin the vote altogether but they have obviously shat it.
  4. Scotland are shite but I don't think the players needed their big brothers to hold their hands. The message is clear. Supporting Scotland at the Euros is more important than playing for Motherwell. The players know they are on easy street at Fir Park which is why we get served up so much shite.
  5. They already have this. The idea that the Well Society needs full time professional board members is ridiculous. No club in Scotland has that.
  6. New captain who didn't turn up for the start of preseason. Perfect for Motherwell.
  7. So we're now 1 week from the voting opening and we still haven't seen the club's detailed proposal about issuing new shares or any kind of business plan from Erik Barmack and the Well Society haven't announced a single public meeting about the situation. Farcical.
  8. Good signing. We badly some height for the middle of the back three. Balmer-Gordon-Casey has potential.
  9. Ok. I'll make this simple. Adminstrative tasks which have close to 100% success rate across every business in the country cannot be considered difficult. Complicated and time consuming but not difficult. Football is different from compliance because it's a competitive sport with rivals who are expending efforts to ensure you don't succeed.
  10. I'm replying to a question from someone who dug up a post from weeks ago. There are a lot of people out there who are invested into parroting the idea that sending emails and filling in forms is a talent like being a footballer or a musician but that doesn't make it true.
  11. If every club and business in the land manages to do it ok it suggests it's not difficult. If you work in a job where a Charles Dunne type is trying to break your fingers while you're sending a email then I apologise but the competitive nature of football makes it an entirely different challenge. Running an £8 million business like Motherwell is easy. Season ticket sales are consistent and fuck all to do with the board. Away fans are not coming because of Jim McMahon and Douglas Dickie. Sky deal and UEFA money is completely external to the club. That's your main income streams which the board have very little impact on.
  12. It's definitely happened in the past Porter, Hughes, Nicky Law right up to Liam Kelly. The idea that we should be worried about the sensibilities of a guy like SOD who personally conceded more penalties than we kept clean sheets is mental. If he doesn't like it good luck finding another club. I'm not saying we should have broke the bank for KVV but if you look at our midfield options Kettlewell has brought to the club it's shambolic.
  13. If they have a problem they can sit down and watch their season highlights and reflect on the fact that they are extremely fortunate to still be at the club. Sign shite players to keep Stephen O'Donnell happy is the kind of logic you would expect from Kettlewell.
  14. Aye I heard Doncaster on the radio bragging about the increased UEFA money before the final game of the season.
  15. He takes control immediately after putting in £300k.
  16. That is correct. For less than the price of a house on Fir Park Street. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/details/scotland-125143163-21358774?s=fc5c472d3ec4ba1f495a555dacc2410d0818e921f15155fe669274d5739e4afe#/
  17. Great post. This point sums it up. Who pays for less ownership? No one does that but somehow McMahon and Barmack think we can be tricked into it.
  18. It's worth remembering that McMahon paid a lot of money to a PR firm to get this through. Step 1. Put out a video which gives the impression a club well in the black are skint. Make it so cheesy it demoralises the support. Step 2. Hype Barmack as a Netflix exec and wealthy and also promote a shite bid to make him seem better by comparison. Step 3. Put pressure on the Well Society to create a new business model and have dubious social media accounts constantly banging on about it. Step 4. First offer to test the waters. Spend two weeks taking note of fan complaints on social media then revise to seem more reasonable when in fact nothing really changes. McMahon is using every tool available to him. The Well Society board have a more powerful tool and it's up to them to use it.
  19. Kilmarnock are moving from having their academy team playing on the shitty surface at Rugby Park to something similar to what we already have.
  20. We already have grass parks.
  21. The only deal is a rip off so we have to take it?
  22. The only time we have had significant injections of money from outside investors in my lifetime has been with Boyle for the first four years of his ownership which ended up almost killing the club then Les coming in and handing his chequebook to Barraclough which was another disaster. We have performed better as a football club when we are standing on our own feet. A change from a Jim McMahon dominated board to one which reflects the Well Society's position doesn't have to change anything financially.
  23. Aye it seems clear that 1. The proposal is in direct conflict with the Well Society constitution 2. The situation with the Well Society appointed Executive Board members is shambolic meaning the Society has not been properly represented during the process. 3. The very late change to the Head of Terms with seemingly no Society input invalidates the entire 4 month process. Just tell the members we cannot proceed legally and start talking to Barmack directly.
  24. Start the new negotations with three red lines. (1) The Well Society cannot drop below 51%. (2) The Well Society will not fund any reduction of its own shareholding. (3) The make up of the board will reflect the existing shareholding. Barmack will have as much influence as his shareholding and overall contribution to the club merits.
  25. It's good to see they are emphasising legal advice. Call the vote off and restart negotiations with Barmack directly through the new Society Board. The fact that we have had people in charge of this process who apparently only discovered the official definition of fan ownership two days ago perfectly enscapulates how farcical every aspect of this is.
