Motherwell manager Stuart McCall avoids ban after SFA hearingMotherwell manager Stuart McCall has been found not guilty of breaching the Scottish FA's rule 203 and will not serve a touchline ban.

The rule covers offensive, insulting or abusive language and calling into question an official's integrity and aggressive behaviour towards officials.

McCall was sent to the stand during the 2-1 Scottish Cup defeat by Aberdeen and was later charged.

He appealed and the hearing found in his favour on Thursday.

I was a bit annoyed at the BBC headline putting a negative on McCall slightly implying he was lucky to get away with not getting a ban.

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall wins appeal against ban for Scottish Cup dismissal

MOTHERWELL manager Stuart McCall has won his challenge against a proposed one-match ban following his dismissal against Aberdeen last month.

McCall rejected the SFA compliance officer's offer of a ban and was successful in a hearing with a panel at Hampden today.

The club confirmed on their Twitter account: "Stuart McCall has been found not guilty at the hearing this morning and will not face any suspension resulting from Aberdeen game on 11 March."

McCall was alleged to have breached rule 203, which includes offences such as the repeated use of abusive and insulting language and adopting an aggressive attitude towards match officials or calling their integrity into question.

The Motherwell boss was "amazed and angered" after being sent to the stand by referee Craig Thomson halfway through his side's 2-1 Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat after commenting on the decision to award Aberdeen the corner that led to Rory Fallon's early opener.

McCall said the following day: "When coming off the park, I calmly spoke to Craig and said I was disappointed he had not used his game intelligence to award us a free-kick after obviously coming to the wrong conclusion by awarding the corner.

"He replied that he couldn't just invent a free-kick decision which is fair comment, but it is widely used throughout football and is recognised by both players and managers when such an obvious injustice occurs.

"My final comment of 'when you see it on TV, you will be embarrassed' is the quote I was sent to the stands for.

"As a player, the maximum punishment for such a mild comment would be a yellow card at absolute most, so to stop me doing my job in the second half, in my opinion, was totally wrong and a complete over-reaction."

McCall also says in todays sun that Thompson told the panel he didnt swear ? so recind the red card then?

Problem for the SFA was that Lennon has three recent incidents and if our man had been further punished then they would have to have thrown the book at the manky one!! Now he can get a one match ban at most and a slap on the wrist for his numerous offences and everyone is happy.......ph34r.gif

They get one thing right on that thread, Craig Brown getting off scot free and John Boyle being punished was double standards, difference being I believe Brown should have got punished whereas they're saying Lennon should get off scot free. All in the way you look at things intit? Deluded fools
