I was torn on it,

Higgy was tremendous and the stats dont lie,

but Randolph was almost world class at times

likewise even as frustrated as I am with the boss, he should proably at least get a nomination (from us because he's ours) but from the panel for two wins, a draw and only a relatively narrow defeat against a team with what, ten? times our budget, although Lomas should walk it

young player, I opted for Zaine, he only played in two of the games but for us it would probably been him Cummins or Kerr, as it is I reckon Fraser? will get it

but these votes and associated publicity, is all part of the machine that raises the profile of the club and players, so for a couple of clicks and a minute of everyones time, it adds value maybe not directly, but better to be mentioned than not, especially in the positive sense of successful performances

Randolop was superb against Celtic and saved us from a serious drubbing, who knows how important that could prove to be come the end of the season in terms of goal difference?

But Michael Higdon has been the best player for us this month as he's chipped in with vital goals at vital times. He splits opinions among the support but big Higdon does what a penalty box striker of his kind do best, put the ball in the net whenever he gets the right service.

Motherwell striker Michael Higdon nets player award

Motherwell striker Michael Higdon has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month.

The forward, who is out of contract in the summer, netted six goals in September as Motherwell climbed to the top of the table.

Higdon fired a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle and scored a double in the away victory over Dundee.

The striker also netted in the 3-3 draw with Aberdeen.

“It's not just his goals, it's the way he leads the line”

Stuart McCall Motherwell manager Higdon, who signed from SPL rivals St Mirren in June 2011, said he was happy at Fir Pak and would not rule out extending his contract with the Steelmen.

"It's a long way to go until we talk about contracts," he said. "But my family is settled here and I have a little girl in school.

"On that side of things, it's fine, but you just never know in football."

The striker said he expected talks over a potential new deal to get under way in January.

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall praised Higdon as the focal point of his side's attacks.

"It's not just his goals, it's the way he leads the line," McCall said. "Sometimes goalscoring goes in fits and starts.

"Hopefully he can continue on a consistent level.

"He's done that since he's been here and his goalscoring record is terrific. Long may that continue."
