Dundee Utd

Nobodys started a thread on this yet so I'll take the initiative.

Massive game, anything less than a win and 4th is unachievable I feel. To be honest, I think it's great we're even talking about 4th, as even the top 6 is far from a formality.

My only thoughts on the starting line up would be not to play Clarky in midfield.

I originally thought this was a must-win game but when I look at next weeks fixtures, a draw would not be an absolute nightmare.

Get a win though and we are right in about this race for Europe.

Clarky tends to perform against Dundee United so who do you leave out!? Sheridan or Sutty?

Will be a tough game this one - and I think this game will be the most important if we are going to clinch 4th and that Europa spot.

Dundee Utd are currently where we want to be, so they arte or biggest rivals to 4th place. A draw would still leave us 9pts from that goal and a defeat would put us 12pts from it and ultimately out the race I think.

This game therefore is must win if we want to acheive our ambitions and stay in the race. Utd are a decent side and we need to be right up for this one to make up for last weeks slip up.

Ultimately, I see the 4th place being decided post split - with Rangers and Celtic having a major say in who finishes 4th thanks to their own battle for top spot. But come that time - and it's only five games away - i think we need to be within 3pts of 4th to have any chance!

Win on Saturday and Europe is on!!

...but lose and we could be drawn into the battle for a top 6 finish.

Tough game but I think it'll be a goody! We need to win to keep United on their toes but United will want the win to get closer to Hearts and move away from us, Aberdeen and Hibs.

Same team as Tynie and I think we'll sneak this one 2-1, not really fussed about who scores tbh.

Mon the Well!!!!

There are conflicting reports regarding Coach's availability, so its either him or BMac in defence, Going forward I'd leave things as they are.

We need to win and I think we will, maybe just by a goal though.

Cant wait for it. surely the pitch will be a wee bit better as it has not been played on in a few weeks? Going for a 1-0 win with clarkson. Heard a wee roumor that Utd are brining over 2,000 fans. I just laugh at the guy at work who told me this.

Saw the pitch on the telly the other night. I looks worse!!! As if the Irish 'Riverdance with Tackity Boots and Golf Shoes' Champions had been using it for practice.

3-0 Well - Sheridan, Sutton & Clarkson

Same team as Tynecastle but we must be tighter at the back when defending crosses and long throws against guys like Wilkie. First goal will be crucial as usual, as Utd are good at defending a lead.

I would hope the gaffer goes at them from the start and lifts the support.

Ian Brines is the referee tomorrow has dished out an amazing 63 cards in 14 games, leading the way with the highest average cards per game ratio of 4.5 cards per game out of all SPL refs.

http://www.splrefs.com/All-Refs/All-Refere...p;sort=TotalAvg

Interestingly though, his average booking ratio in the 3 games he has refereed Motherwell in this season has been 2.33 and in the 4 games for United it is only 1.25

For those of you that like a punt, you might want to look at the odds on Morgaro Gomis picking up a card of some sorts on Saturday- Gomis has been booked 3 times and sent off once in the 7 games that Brines has refereed United in the last two season.

I'm working today so I'll miss the game (unless I'm very very very very very lucky)

It's going to be more like a cup game than a league game and I can see quite a few goals in the game.

As for the end result 3-1 to the well (1-1 at half time the 2 goals in the second half coming in the last 10 mins).

what a fecker I'm going to miss it!

The Arabs are not too confident... is that a good thing?

2-1 'Well Clarky double for us before they score a in the 85th to make us shit ourselves by pounding our box and moving that big jessie Wilkie up front. Smith will get MOTM for his last 5 minutes performance tae...

There will also be less than 5000 people to watch it

Can't make it today but hopefully I'll miss something worth missing!

A draw looks odds on. Dundee United's recent form isn't great but they still don't lose very often and have only lost one out of the last six away matches (at Ibrox).

Winning this one would be a massive result, fingers crossed!

If we harbour any ambition for a top 6 finish then these are the type of games we need to be winning, many of the teams above us are there due to our poor form in November and December.

The hibbees are 1 up just now abut 25 mins gone so not ideal however we have to concentrate winning our own games.

Time to turn possession and chances into goals. We've already proven twice this season we are better than they are, and by their own admission the quite literally stole a point af Fir Park earlier in the season. At Tannadichie, we deservedly hammered them.

Some early team news. Jim O'Brien's out. According to the BBC live text he's playing for Hibs the day:

1245: GOAL

Hibernian 1-0 Hearts

Steven Fletcher sends a looping header into the net from Jim O'Brien's deep cross from the right.
