The Ground Is Getting Me Down.

Read reports in today's papers that our new pitch wont be ready for any Euro league play off and we've been given permission to use New Broomfield??? Don't forget to take your swineflu masks folks. .

Thought Airdrie were getting an artificial pitch installed over the summer?

Not that I knew of, but something tells me you could play in the UEFA cup with it, correct me if im wrong though.

I think you are right in that UEFA allow it in certain instances, but obviously there's a time factor involved in them digging up their existing surface and laying an artificial surface - that was more my point.

quit complaining it's not like you have to live there, you only need to be there for two hours every fortnight or so. if it ever becomes possible to build a new ground without any great net cost then we should probably go for it but that clearly isn't the case the now.

anyway going to the fitba is going to the fitba whether it's in fir park or the emirates. you turn up and watch the game from a plastic seat then leave. people talk about fit for purpose, the purpose of the stands are to watch the games from and that's something i've never had any problem doing. the emirates, ibrox, old trafford and the likes might look great but when you consider that you're stuck in the same seat every week without the option of changing or sitting with different folks from time to time i think i prefer the options i have at fir park.

Just back from the Spirit of the West bash at Inveraray so thanks for comments.

I'd love Fir Park no matter what it looked like. My point was my kids and perhaps other kids in and around Motherwell see it as a dump (they don't understand character yet and instead like shiny plastic things).

I'd like to see MFC tear a lump of the height of the South stand and use the materials, seats and all to fill in a couple of the corners if possible.

In any space created, I'd like to see a museum-type thing housed within the stadium so there was somewhere my kids could go on match days to veiw the clubs history and character. Maybe give the kids some big screens so they've got something to look at at Half-time and the fans have got some images to cheer (and knowing some of the Firpark faithful) abuse also.

New or renovated grounds don't have to look soulless. Just don't enploy companies that specialise in erecting sheds and warehouses.

Like everyone else I'm pleased to hear about the new pitch being carefully planned.
