We've got the MOTM polls that ran through the season, but what about overall, who is the Player of the Year?

A few candidates this year with Sutton having a tremendous second half to the season, Hateley having a really strong start to the season and Jennings, when fit, giving us that something extra in the middle of the park but I went for John Ruddy, who despite making a few errors throughout the season, has generally won us many points with some good goalkeeping and outstanding saves, the amount of close one and two goal wins we had this year thanks to him is the reason why we finished where we did in my view.

Lucas for me, magnificent strong centre forward, great at holding the ball up, good shot, eye for goal and all for a young guy.

I would love to see him back on loan at Fir Park next season. At least until January if no-one comes in for him in the summer.

Forbes had an excellent start to the season but fell away, needs to work on his fitness.

Coke, Hately, O'Brien, Sutton and of course Ruddy all did very well.

Went for John Ruddy. Was hard to pick as loads have been outstanding. But John's performances have been sound and consistant and some of the saves he has made. UNBELIEVABLE. Kept countless cleansheets as well. Best keeper we have had in a while.

Ruddy for me.

Jutkiewicz's poor start put me off a bit, Sutton's been great but not quite PotY, O'Brien's had some outstanding moments but continues to flatter to deceive most of the time, and Hateley looked like he could have been in a shout to begin with but hasn't stood out enough over the course of the season.

I actually believe that Jenno would have stood a chance of romping it if he'd been playing week in week out, but his lack of chances under Gannon and perhaps slight lack of fitness at the start of the season rules him out.

Difficult for me to choose but going for Lukas mainly due to the fact the lad was on loan and injured for the last three months but still gave his all and produced the goods.

Honourable mentions to Craigan, Ruddy, and Hateley imo.

Voted for John Sutton. Did so much of the donkey work and chipped in some vital goals along the way, real team player and top for me.

I take it he disappeared into Charlton reserves when he returned South?

This from March 21st. Typical of the English press they still thought we had him. Aye right.....

Charlton are set to pay-off big-earning rightback Yassin Moutouakil's contract and get him off their books.

Budget

The cash-conscious Addicks will only have a budget of around £8m next season and Moutouakil - currently on loan at Motherwell - is their top earner on around £450,000-a-year.

French defender Moutouakil is one of the few players left from the Premier League era.

Went for Hammell.Has been consistent throughout the season and not made many costly mistakes.

Can't really agree with that, especially in the business end of the season he's had a few howlers. Still, he's done well to bounce back after falling out of favour a bit with Gannon

went for Ruddy, tho it was close. Forbes had a great start,Lukas started badly but progressed into a superb season and since January Sutton has been brilliant but Ruddy has been consistently great,ok he has had the odd howler but he won us a lot of points and kept a record amount of clean sheets as well as pulling off some amazing saves

so by a small margin, POTY - John Ruddy

said all through the season that hateley is my poty.its a pity he`s had 2 games back to back where he hasnt been at his best, but others have had the same or worse over the course of the season. excellent at the start of the season in midfield, passing and distribution of the ball is excellent and never lost possesion of the ball, kept the full team moving at times.slotted in brilliantly at right back aswell.

could have easily picked ruddy or sutton aswell, had excellent seasons.

bit off subject, but my early prediction for poty next year is hutchison.

Interesting comments so far, made me think for a while before my decision.

I've opted for Hateley, mainly because I feel his last few performances have stuck in the mind due to their freshness among a number of Motherwell fans. I don't even want to contemplate how he would he would have performed if we had a decent right back he could have been left to grown in his holding/defensive midfield role. I also think over the course of the season he has had less hairy moments than Ruddy who's had a few Amaruso (minus the Baileys and Riverboat casino) moments.

Consequently Ruddy comes second, jointly with Sutton.

Followed by the Juke just for his slow start.

voted for jennings. consistent and reliable player. not understanding the adulation for Ruddy though. Sure he had great games but also made some howlers. Never seemed to have an average game. Went from one extreme to the other IMO
