What should the Club do with Lennon Miller transfer money
Yoshi-1991 replied to El Grew's topic in Club Chat
Sounds like something Accies would actually do -
Some very good ideas and suggestions. I think we need to do something about our training facilities. From the very little I know about it, the POD stand has become problematic due to increased costs involved in patching it up to ensure we get our ground safety certificate. And yes we need to continue putting money into the development of young players for the future.

Training facilities Stand upgrades Increase the max wage limit by even £250-500 per week for top earners which would unlock another level of player even at that small increase Bank at least half for a rainy day
-
Turnbull money went on pitch and stand improvements, looking back . It was best decision as the pitch is probably one of best in league now ,no more flooding, from being one of the worst. Stand improvements were a requirment and ok. Now is time to invest in training infrastructure I would think , incomming player budget for a change and bank rest for a rainy day. Pray for a cup run or two as well.

St Johnstone V Motherwell 16/08/2025 🏆

Looking forward to this one - will be my first trip to McDiarmid. Should be a good game with how Saints are playing just now, however they certainly won't be pushovers. Will be interesting to see how McGinn and SOD/Gordon/Blamer cope with big Ikpeazu and Sidibeh's pace. We should be able to create a few chances as well with Saints actually attacking us. Will go 2-1 or 1-2. - Today

I picked mine on performances for Motherwell only Not for what players went on to do elsewhere
-
Develop an app ?

McLair was a great player, but I don't put him in the same category as McAllister only because he joined as an 18 year old rather than coming up through the levels at Motherwell.

Sign a couple players for now. Upgrade training facility save some for emergency -
Great if the club can now sign a couple more players that'd be great. Glad the miller deals gonna be done. Took a bit longer than I'd have liked but such is football
-
Nope, should still be OK.

I would top it up by phoning Viking and asking them if they are still interested in Stam then take that fee invest in Hale then top six is basically ours! Hopefully we invest in our youth system but also invest in players to bring in to make better and sell on. -

Allows for projection though? -
Given it will take around 4 years to actually receive it in full, I'd say tht somewhat limits the options.

Your one crazy, stupid person, the euro’s £186M tonight - that’s where to blow the rest.

Is that why we can’t send you pms ?

I agree the bulk of the funds should be directed towards infrastructure and youth development. That’s our future. But I hope there can be a balance. A portion must be spent on an attempt to improve the quality on the pitch. That’s the bit the fans see each week and which has raised our spirits (most of us anyway 😂) of late. We have seen positive signs since JBA came in and with his signings we have evidence he can source players who will improve us and who will cope with his preferred way of playing. I honestly believe he will already have identified players to improve those areas we all know need addressing. And I suspect we will see evidence of that very soon. in recent seasons we have been mostly limited to free transfers, often taking a punt on players recovering from serious injury, and loan players. Ap Stam being the obvious exception of course and in truth the jury is still out as far as he is concerned. But that was a big spend on one player. A greater risk. I believe bringing in around four starters totalling £500k/600k in total could really provide the uplift in quality the squad needs to progress. That leaves over £3.5m for projects and the like. The Miller fee is a massive sum to a Club such as ours but it is a pittance to Udinese so hopefully the bulk, if not all, will be received up front. If we are honest we must also accept that none of our youngsters are currently ready to play a meaningful role in the first team. And taking into account the number of players that have departed from last season’s squad the monthly wage bill should not put pressure on our finances even if we strengthen. If we really trust and support our Manager then he should be given the support and encouragement to continue our progress. How often to we get this opportunity and have a Manager who we would trust to spend wisely? .

£500k on players and then just blow the rest on scratch cards

Might as well chuck in a wee Tuesday joke. My sister and nephew going to Oasis gig today. I told her to take care in warm weather and take plenty fluids and also food. I suggested a bag of chips and have a....roll with it! Apologies folks 😜😜

Put a modest amount into the playing budget (say <£500k); place some in our contingency fund to secure the future of the club; spend the rest on upgrading training facilities/infrastructure (a loose definition: urgent repairs, stadium upgrading, new stadium fund whatever). The Club Directors will have a very good idea of the risks and rewards as you'd expect. I'm happy to leave it to them.

Same could be said for McLair, who has been omitted from all our dream teams. Probably won more than Gary Mac. He won a lot of titles at both Celtic and Man Utd, euro trophies and FA and league cups. I suppose he started at Aston Villa but was only there a few months before joining our youth set up. a wee but like McAllister though that they both showed great potential at us but developed into top players on leaving. McAllister did have 5yrs at Leicester in the lower league prior to flourishing at Leeds.
