That's how the new manager wants us to play, so it's a risk regardless of who is in goals. Less of a risk if we don't scuff a pass straight to an opposition striker, right enough.
-
The manager was the defensive coach at Copenhagen before joining us, and was a centre half, so if he canβt sort it, nobody can. Letβs see how things go when itβs not 30 degrees on plastic. Not a great start, but still really early days. I can see Ward getting lobbed a few times if he plays that high up the pitch.
-
You can say what you like about Halliday, but he can certainly be trusted with a penalty. π
-
I've read our new manager has a reputation for being a good defensive coach, but still think he needs better defenders to work with.
-
Do we have any defender on our books who's decision making and concentration merits a top league salary? They never learn from their mistakes. They can't do the basics in defending, never mind pass a ball. I think a coach trying to improve them is folly. Just get rid somehow and start again.
-
Aye if this wasn't a eye opener about our defence then I don't know what is I really don't know what the answer is cause most of them will be playing alot of football for us next season. Maybe a defensive coach?Who knows.
-
Yip, I went there today expecting exactly this. And boy was that delivered. Should be good to see the next game though as it should hopefully show us as fans, how the manager saw that game and what changes he makes. As long as I can see a steady improvement in each of these league cup games, Iβll be ok with that. But yes today was a tough watch. I donβt want to now comment on who I thought was rotten (there were a few) as Iβll be accused of being a panty wetter. lol
-
I agree and have being saying that for thenpast couple of seasons.
-
Not a great performance to be sure but the manager has now seen in a competitive match, just how poor our central defenders are.
-
Clearout at the back required.
-
Unless we get some proper defenders in, it's going to be a long season. Balmer Gordon and ODonnell are so called experienced pros, but struggled against part time boys. The fans should be reimbursed because that was not a game of professional football in that second half. You would be lucky if 15 mins of that was in play.
-
Are there any defenders from the past 2 seasons that make you think different - because I'd struggle to think of one.
-
A decent workout and a good demonstration of our defensive deficiencies to the new manager. Hot day on a plastic pitch was always going to be a difficult watch.
-
It's that time of year where some of the team looks like they haven't played together before and I need to copy and paste the new player names from Wikipedia. Welcome back and take your pick...
-
At least we are playing on real football pitch expect a lot better from us and no water breaks
-
Penalties were more exciting than the second half
-
They are even wasting time with the penalties. Throwing ball away.
-
2 mins water break. At least 30 seconds wasted every time ball went out park. At least 8 subs. Yet we get less than 4 mins extra. I know it's early doors, but that performance confirms guys like balmer odonnell gordon need moved on.
-
Safe to say Balmer should be resigned to being a sub for the rest of the season Ive said it on here before..........the guy gives me the fear every single time I see his name in our starting 11
-
4 mins
-
How much time was added on? I was expecting more
-
That second half was a complete joke
- Today
-
2nd half has been a shambles. No football played. They do know we need 3pts.
-
Yes, still very annoying
-
Walking football.
