  1. Past hour
  2. They undoubtedly had some experienced players but most of these were on a downward curve, careerwise. I cannot think of any of them who went on to bigger and better things after the playoff defeat. Collectively they were a shambles and, always a sign of a poorly coached side, less than the sum of their parts as a team.
  3. Pretty much so. The excact phrase used was "We remain in dialogue with all remaining players, whose personal circumstances are all different. Given the current managerial situation at the club, decisions will be made in the coming weeks with regards to these players. Thats somewhat different to how we've phrased it in previous seasons i.e. the reference to "personal circumstances". That hints at a range of different factors at play. It also contradicts what Michael Wimmer said prior to the Ross County game; something along the lines of he was clear who he wanted to retain and who he didn't. These players' contracts will expire on Saturday. I can only assume that Shane Blaney wanted to move on; and that the club was 100% clear about Ross Callachan and Mark Ferrie having no future with us or they wanted to move on.
  4. Did they not say that was due to the fact we don't have a new manager yet? I assume the club will be looking to get someone in post as soon as possible. Davor kind of hinted he was off on his socials.
  5. Good post. I think we've limited our options for bringing in fresh faces by re-signing both SOD and McGinn. In hindsight, mistakes made when renewing their contracts earlier. Hopefully, we won't see SOD in central defence this coming campaign. Undeniably, the defence badly needs an overhaul and more of the same simply won't do. Any overhaul should also involve the wing back positions and defensive midfield. The current and very odd muddied situation with some contract renewals such as Seddon, Casey, Thompson, Davor and Paton isn't helping.
  6. I’ve heard that the strip is kind of like a continual blend of our colours merging whatever the hell that means… maybe that’s like amber flowing gradually down into claret or the other way round sounds interesting anyway
  7. Today
  8. Despite the fact Rangers had been poor all season and finished 3rd the media were all convinced they would be back the next season Remember Stephen Craigan after one of the games being interviewed and his chat went something along the lines of it's been Rangers this , Rangers that . Rangers will be back next season , derby games are back This is of course what made it even more enjoying
  9. We never wore black shorts in the 50/60’s……..shorts were always white until 1968 According to Historical football kits …….we wore black shorts as away strip with home top 1927-29 and with home kit just after War 1947/8
  10. Balmer as a back up centre half on his own is fine. The fact we have signed up McGinn and SOD as well is the problem. We dont know how many games McGinn is going to be able to play, and I think we all agree (even those of us who think he isnt as bad as he is made out) that SODs appearances should start to be limited as a back up player. That leaves only Gordon as a first pick centre half with little room for manoevre. Especially if we sign Casey on again. If we want to improve the defence we really need to freshen it up. Unless a new manager and Jordan McGhee as CDM becomes some sort of magic bullet.
  11. Whilst that is true, and THAT Rangers team wasnt the same level as some of their past teams, looking at their starting line up at Ibrox, it wasnt a team of young boys and diddies. There was as much exprerience in their line up as ours, and they were certainly being paid a lot more money than our lot. Didnt we also lose to them in the League Cup their under McCall the year before?
  12. You’re correct. I accidentally typed 4 dots instead of 3. I look forward to pointing out simple punctuation mistakes in your future posts. In fact, your comment is missing a comma. It should be “3 dots, no?”. We all make misteaks.
  13. With Claret shorts and with MFC script or today’s badge
  14. Motherwell in the 70’s some wonderful playing kits we had back then and beautiful smooth pitches as well 😱
  15. Delighted though I was by the results and outcome, and without the desire to piss on anyone's chips, the one undeniable fact about both games is obviously just how awful Rangers were. Yet, as I recall, the likes of Hugh Keevins were still convincing themselves that they were still in the hunt. They saw and reported what they wanted to see, based on what they wanted to happen. A less than subtle combination of laziness and incompetence. Plus ca change.
  16. Yesterday
  17. Pretty sure we will get Morton at home. Now that I've said that it won't happen
  18. I’m aware. That’s why I finished my statement above with an ellipsis.
  19. I would keep Seddon and Casey. Think Seddon has shown enough for a new contract and Id be more than happy to see Casey sign on again. Also don't see the point of signing players just to punt them out on loan although I'm aware it does happen and it happens both ways - Balmer might have his faults but don't really see the point of putting him out on loan particularly as he's only contracted for another season - theres no value to us in putting him out on loan for the last year of his contract. We would get zero from that scenario - he might as well be a squad player for us than going elsewhere. I get that someone else might pick up a proportion of his salary and free up wages for other players - just not convinced that's the best way - but will obviously depend on our new manager whoever that is
  20. How long have you been watching motherwell, we are the world champs at making easy look hard.
  21. Our colours are claret and amber. Not claret, amber and white. In the fifties and sixties shorts were either black or white. Now we can have claret or amber shorts.
  22. A great night in Motherwell's recent history A great 3 days in Motherwell's recent history The Marvin Johnson goal assisted by Cammy Bell at Fir Park must be the loudest cheer I have ever heard at Fir Park. It really felt like the closest thing to winning a cup that day . A poor poor season finished off in style
