YESSS!!!!!! Result of the season so far! Great team performance, Hateley perhaps wasn't at his best today but I don't think you could fault any other player in the side. Randy made everything he had to do look easy, we were pretty solid at the back, midfield did tremendously well especially after Lasley was sent off and up front we always looked like getting a goal with Murphy and Ojamaa looking dangerous and Higdon doing a good job as a target man. Was a bit worried when Lasley was sent off but if anything we got better rather than worse and should have scored a couple of times before we eventually got the killer third. Lasley's second yellow looked harsh to me but probably others got a better view of it than I did. Ojamaa's set up play for the third goal was a joy to behold but really we could honestly have won about 5 or 6 nil today even with only 10 men for half the match. Great stuff!

I wouldn't put money on it!

He's had 3 seasons to establish himself as a first pick starting XI player under 3 different managers and he still hasn't managed it. And it's not like he hasn't been given a chance. That should tell you something.

    Vs Hearts

Hearts are strong at Tynecastle but not so good on the road. They have only won 2 out of 13 away league matches this season - against the two bottom sides in the league. We should go into this game confident of victory. It will be a tough match most likely but we should be absolutely resolute going into this to further strengthen our bid for 3rd place. You don't get many better opportunities than this, hopefully we grab it.
  5. I've not contributed to the 'Well Society but not through apathy, through simply not being able to afford to. If I had the money spare I'd put in the full whack, I'm sure most supporters would, but I'm also sure there are many supporters in the same boat as me, guys that put in probably about £600-700 into the club through season tickets, merchandise, programmes, food etc which is already more than they can really justify and who only do so because they are fans. I do contracted work mainly, and I've only had a years work in the last two. My last job finished a couple of weeks ago and I don't know when the next one will be. I'm afraid the economic uncertainty and the dismal job market means I'm canceling all unnecessary direct debits instead of adding to them - it has nothing to do with my love or commitment to the club but I simply cannot afford to put another £300 in, I cannot afford to put another £150 in. I hope the 'Well Society is a success but I'm not sure we have a large enough, or affluent enough support. Good luck to them anyway but I'm afraid I'm out.
  6. Any particular reason that Ojamaa is wearing grandpa glasses and a bushy moustache?
  7. Good draw for us but I hope some of the other teams do the heavy lifting for us. QoS to put out Aberdeen, Dundee Utd to put out Celtic. Taxman to put out Hearts!
  8. Saw them - pure spazzy squad, the lassies at the pie stalls could have run them out of town.

    Ojamaa

He's a bit different from Scott MacDonald when he first came to the club because he could hardly hit a coos arse with a banjo in his first season! I remember writing on these forums or somewhere else that he looked a great wee player but he couldn't shoot and wouldn't score goals. Obviously he came on a bit in his second season! I wonder what Ojamaa's shot accuracy is so far? Must be 70-80 percent you'd imagine.
  10. I have some vague recollection of Davie Cooper having a few goes in one match and finally getting one in on the third or fourth attempt. North terrace end. But maybe some got a touch on it - perhaps a Stevie Kirk special from a quarter of a yard out!

    Ojamaa

Ojamaa didn't exactly have a riproaring CV before coming here. It's in his agents interest for the player to have a spell of first team football and add to his statistics, Then when he's played 40 or 50 matches bigger clubs will look at him.
  12. The BBC get their information from the Press Association, so the Lawleff mistake turns up all over the place, not just on the BBC. And Jim Spence said our last campaign we went out to Odense and that he was at the Nancy match, not mentioning every European campaign doesn't mean he's ignorant of them. Tad harsh.

    Morton

    Jamie Murphy gets my vote.
  14. I hope not! Humphrey is best used coming off the bench and in my opinion isn't a starter. I'd also play Daley over Higdon. Nothing against Higdon but we played our best match since the first day of the season last week and I wouldn't change it. Playing with Murphy, Daley and Ojamaa, in my opinion, gives us much more mobility and pace up front than hitting long balls up to Higdon. That's not really Higdon's fault but it's probably what is going to happen if he's there.
  15. Love cup games against lower league sides, its refreshing to see different teams. Morton are an inconsistent team but on their game they can play some decent football and they will be a threat if we don't have the right attitude going into this so we will have to be switched on. Looking forward to seeing Michael Tidser, by all accounts a player in the First division who could maybe step up a level and I'm a bit nervous about the return of Peter MacDonald, we all remember his last visit to Fir Park! One we should win though. Hopefully we get a decent crowd too.
  16. I'm afraid this is the new reality. Clubs will have to survive on whatever they can bring in themselves. When someone like Whyte is the best that Rangers can attract what chance do we have? The simple fact of it is there aren't business people out there willing to throw money at football clubs these days with the economy in such a poor state and unlikely to revive in the near future. Unfortunately I suspect a lot of supporters, who would be willing if they had the money, cannot afford to invest in the Membership Scheme. That's certainly my situation and probably the case for others. It's lean times I'm afraid on the financial front.
  17. Nothing to do with three quarters of the home matches being dire this season? As for your candy coated past I have to laugh. There were regular McLean Out demonstrations after matches in front of the main stand and the current situation doesn't even remotely compare to the Davies era when things really did get out of hand. When was the last time a crowd of a couple of hundred Motherwell fans stood in front of the main stand and hurled abuse and, on occasion, missiles, at officials, staff and players? Not for a long time, not since the 'the good old days' in fact. Even Maurice Malpas got off lightly compared to some of those that came before him.
  18. Interesting article on transfer fees in and out at all SPL clubs over the last few years. Taken from P&B. My link
  19. I keep reading this and hearing people say it and yet he's still got 8 goals in less than 30 matches. Not bad for a striker, very good for a player playing wide midfield most of the time. He's not shown his top form consistently over the season but he's hardly been shite. Even over the last 10 matches no one in the squad has scored more goals than him.
  20. Apparently Hearts were wanting £500,000 for Templeton. In my opinion Murphy is a better player with a better record than Templeton so we should at least be asking for £500K if not more from Rangers. I just hope they aren't putting in a bid for Murphy as a 'cheaper option' than going for Templeton.
  21. I, for one, will be glad to keep him.
  22. Looks like Jamie Murphy is going, I think we'll miss him big time. Although he's not been on top form he's still one of the few players in this squad with that little extra something and it's those tiny margins that separate average or poor teams from good teams at the end of the season. Hopefully we don't lose anyone else.
  23. Problem is he has been prone to injuries. He's had long spells out injured in each of the last three seasons. I'm not sure there is 'big' money to be made of him until he's clocked in a few 30+ games a season.

    Ojamaa

I'm not talking about paying him the going rate, I'm talking about offering him a long term contract. John Spencer is the classic example of the player who looked great on a temp deal, was signed and then was pretty poor and cost the club a considerable amount of money. Even last season, Blackman started with a bang, faded off, went to Aberdeen and did nothing and I'm not sure if people would have been that pleased to have him lingering around for 2 years. Ojammaa's been great so far but two starts isn't enough to really judge a players worth. We need to see more of him before we make that level of commitment.
  25. There are people in the East Stand who consistently seem to have a negative attitude towards the team, pick on individual players no matter what they do and hurl abuse that goes way over the top for 90 minutes. But let's not exaggerate. I'd say that each section has only a handful of them and therefore the East Stand is home to maybe 30 individuals. But I've never seen a Motherwell side booed on to the park. The mood of the crowd is decided by the standard of play and generally the Fir Park crowd does what any crowd does. Applauds when it sees something it judges good, and boos when it sees something it judges bad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. And regardless of league position or results the quality of entertainment at Fir Park this season has been poor. We have struggled to score goals, to break teams down, played with one up front, played at a slow tempo, tried to pass the ball around with inconsistent results. It's no surprise the atmosphere has either been poor or on occasion hostile. Over the last two matches we have played much better and surprise, surprise, the atmosphere in the ground has been quite different. I think generally, excluding those individuals, the crowd is quite happy to support the team when it sees the team trying to win, playing entertaining football, creating chances, scoring goals - the problem is we hadn't been doing that until the last couple of games.
