  1. Ok, so it's not the appointment many people wanted (or expected) but let's try not to be negative before the guy has even been unveiled! We have to accept that, as much as we are Motherwell through and through, we are not one of the big guns of the football world. Scottish Football in general is not in a good way at the moment - even our so called "big teams" are struggling. We've done reasonably well in the past few seasons, despite the difficulties we have faced. Let's try to give the new guys a chance, get behind the team and hope we can steady the ship again.
  2. Sounds like a much better performance by all accounts. If the players show the same desire that they did in the early part of the season then we can turn things around again. Ok, we might not end up in the top six but we're not out of it yet...we're certainly not in relegation battles at this stage! As Ricky says, at least we created chances tonight - with a bit of luck we would have come away with a draw - roll on the Accies game! Here's hoping we can find the net a few times (maybe Lukas will do a Boyd ...wouldn't do the goal difference any harm!) Great to hear Brown being positive as well - that's exactly what we need right now! Mon the Well!
  3. I can't see the club statement - server problem apparently! Is anyone else having the same problem? What's done is done now - we will probably never know the full story but the main thing is to get someone in who can do a job. I don't particularly care what their long-term intentions are - as it is with most of the players we bring in - most managers who come to Motherwell are looking for a stepping stone. If we can get someone in who can work with what we've got (players and budget) and bring some sort of stability back I'd be happy for now. We have to accept that this is the type of club that Motherwell are - it's been the same since I started going to FP and it's probably not going to change significantly in the near future. Scottish Football isn't in a great place at the moment so staying in the SPL and trying to build a team through our youth set-up (with some experience to hold things together) is a more realistic aim. It's what we've all talked about for a long time now but we still haven't found the right man to achieve this...here's hoping the next guy in the hot-seat can stand the heat long enough to see us through!
  4. Personally, I think Yassin is an excellent player - obviously still learning but has a lot of talent. We aren't that strong defensively and you have to bear in mind that he is playing beside a very inexperienced player in Saunders - thats a developing partnership. If Yassin goes up the line as part of an attacking move, there has to be a greater awareness of the other players to make sure that gap isn't left totally exposed. He wasn't exactly slow to get back into position but it's the same with Hammell...if he's up the park, the central defence and midfielders need to provide cover. We need to be a unit and have the positional awareness to cover the park. We lost today because our inexperience showed. The Hibs players, particularly Zemamma, knew what they were doing - winding us up! They weren't giving our young boys time on the ball and we didn't really cope with it when things weren't going for us. It's all about what they learn from today and hopefully Gannon can get them back on track against Falkirk. It's a disappointing result but we all know it's early days and we're going to see some inconsistencies this season - as long as we stay behind the team and encourage the guys, even when we're disappointed!!, then we'll do ok. Yassin for me. Hammell was much better this week but went for Yassin because he was composed throughout. He looks like a quality footballer - we just need to use him more! Hammell created lots of space too - frustrating that we don't seem to see it or react to it quickly enough. Still, we are a young, inexperienced side and that's what cost us today. Onwards and upwards!
