Oh the memories, what was the frontage? "Motherwell Football & Athletic Co" or similar?

Did that and the claret & amber image get thrown out at that time?

Badge is far too small.

A shield within a circle within a shield. Kit was worn between 1955-62. They then wore a similar shirt with thankfully a smaller badge

These are brilliant (although sad to see the turnstiles go). Any more from that era? Or any era?

Nice, I've never seen that top one before. I'm always impressed with how absolutely knackered the main stand looked before its facelift.

Who remembers Netzer?

Me, great  player.

I think he scored a couple of beauties in the 6-3 win at Dens in the mid-70s, although my memory is a bit flaky.

25 October 1975

I remember Willie Pettigrew scoring 4 in that 6-3 game but can't remember the other scorers. Just checked " Well Again" and it was Ian Taylor who got the other 2 that day. Jim McCabe left earlier that season without making an appearance and signed for Stranraer.

Jim McCabe - yes, but was "Netzer" not Jim McIlwraith?

You're right I think, Netzer was  McIlwraith. Both had long blond hair, as did Ian Taylor, I knew my memory was rotten.

It's so the guys at the back of the Hampden terrace could read what teams were playing.

I spotted this image on Twitter , it was a proposed new stand design for a potential ground based on Airbles Street. The plans were designed by architect James Bell and was dated 1890.

The middle photo is particularly nostalgic, with its Art Deco front.  As far as I remember the turnstiles had "Irlam O' The Height" as the place of manufacture. Anyone else remember this detail (probably as you were carried over  them for free)?

Here’s the team ready to board the bus at Tannadice with the Summer Cup in after beating Dundee Utd over 2 legs in 1965.

Tom Forsyth and Alan Gilzean from our Texaco Cup win at Fir Park in 1970.

Had to look up how old Alan Gilzean was in that photo... he looks about 50, but he'd only just turned 32.

Terrific player, but needed a little work on his near post covering.

Motherwell legend Hugh Ferguson and his wife photographed with the FA Cup in 1927.  Hugh scored the only goal for Cardiff City against Arsenal in the final at Wembley as the FA Cup left England for the first and to date, only time.

In May 1886, Glencairn FC and Alpha FC (the works team from the Alpha Steam Crane & Engine Works) merged to form Motherwell FC. Giving youth a chance since 1886. How young is the player with the ball?
https://ibb.co/M2qqPCq

The youngster at the front is 14-year-old John Taylor “Bug” Young. A Motherwell Times article of 15th October 1954 confirms he played football for the Alpha Works FC, who operated at Roman Road from 1881-1886.  The article states he was, in October 1954, one of only 2 surviving members of the original Motherwell FC team of 1886 when Glencairn FC and Alpha had merged to form Motherwell FC.  The newspaper article confirms he was "known as Bug Young" to older supporters.  John was born on the 4th of October 1869 and he is first mentioned in the Scranton US census of 1st June 1870 as being 8 months old. He died at 709 South Second Street, West Monroe,  Louisiana on 27th December 1957.
