Talking about nicking things World Cup in Mexico'86 the English commentators came up with the phrase the Mexican wave. However just because it's the first time they have seen it does not mean it's the first time it's happened. If they had bothered there arse to do some research they would have found that supporters of American football where doing it long before the Mexican world cup. I believe the first time i seen it was on Channel 4 and the Miami Dolphin supporters were doing it. Not being an English prat i didn't decide to call it the Miami wave because i wouldn't be so arrogant to presume no one else had already done it.

I remember us singing Hey Jude before Macca wrote it.

What the fuck is this thread all about?

My only real input is, that I can say without fear of contraception, well fans have never sung 'we are Celtic supporters'

Pretty confident about that.

Although it predates the '86 World Cup, the Mexicans still claim it originated in Monterrey, Mexico during a domestic match.

The basics for our day and age were created by scots, but the Americans improved it I'll give them that

I think the Egyptians/Persians/Minoans etc. may disagree with that. My point was that there are plenty inventions to go around and the Americans have a pretty decent share, as do the Scots, English, French, Germans, Chinese etc. And we are all as bad as each other in claiming credit when, typically, most inventions depend on multiple people/nations building on each others' work.

And back on topic, Shellic fans never started anything, they've nicked other folks work all their existence and claimed it as their own.
