Academy Experience - October Holiday Week October 17th - 21st, 2011

Experience Life as a Professional Footballer with the Steelmen

Boys and Girls 6 to 12

Take your football skills to the next level and experience life as a Professional Footballer in our first ever, week-long MFC coaching programme during the October School Week from:

Monday 17th until Friday 21st October

For the first time ever, Motherwell Football Club is offering young people between the ages of 6 and 12 the opportunity to experience life as a professional footballer in our Academy Experience programme.

Academy Experience is a week long intensive programme which will replicate the coaching received by professional players, and will include:

  • Training sessions delivered by members of the first team squad
  • Coaching session with Kenny Black our Assistant Manager
  • Training session on Fir Park.

Comprehensive coaching will include game awareness, technique development, balance, creativity, and nutrition.

Academy Experience is designed to take young players to the next level of performance, and to instil in them the skills and confidence they require to develop their potential. Coaching will be delivered by our highly-qualified SFA accredited coaches, and the young people will be rubbing shoulders with the first team professionals and youth squads. Participants will also be presented with a certificate signed by Motherwell Manager, and former Scotland star, Stuart McCall.

The five-day programme costs just £55 which includes a healthy breakfast. Players should bring their own packed lunch, and appropriate footwear and clothing – and a change to allow for inclement weather.

£55.00 for the whole week

ALMOST SOLD OUT!

Guys,

For those of you still considering sending children to the Motherwell Football Club Academy Experience the 6-8 years age group is completely SOLD OUT!

There are only THREE places remaining in the 9-12 years age group.

You can secure one of these last places by booking online at www.motherwellsoccerschools.com.

As a result of the Academy Experience 68 young people will be mixing with the manager, and first team squad, get to train on Fir Park and be treated as young

professional players for the week. The feedback has been tremendous and we are likely to deliver the Academy Experience during the Easter Holidays 2012.

Cheers

These things would sell out alot quicker if you actually told people about it instead of just relying on the Internet and existing fans.

Things like this could give non motherwell supporting kids an interest in the club. Your way to quiet in the community for my liking and should be more in the faces of the people in this old firm dominated town.

Celtic and rangers dominate this town with motherwell cowering away in the corner. Get out there and stop relying on existing supporters and the internet.

FAO Taff

Thanks for your feedback Taff.

Over the last few months we have fully implemented an online booking system for our community coaching scheme which collects a wide range of information when the parent/gurdian books a place for their child. One of the questions we ask is whether the child is a Motherwell supporter. At the moment 45% of children attending community coaching sessions are Motherwell supporters whilst 55% are not. However, I can say from speaking to our community coaches who deliver the sessions, and from talking directly to parents a number of children are turning their allegiance to Motherwell, and bringing their Dad's who would normally visit other Scottish clubs with them.

In terms of marketing to a wider base i would agree with you - watch for a major development in the next month or so.

At the first Society meeting at the Alona Hotel, a young mother who moved into the area a few years ago said that her family hadn't been Well fans but had become involved with MFC through one of the community initiatives and as a result now attend Fir Park frequently. So the club must be doing something right.

Just like to congratulate those involved in this initiative, my wee fella' had a great week, and was absolutely knackered at his boys club training this evening.

Everything went as planned (to my knowledge), and everything that was promised was delivered - breakfast with the 1st team each morning, a session on the pitch, McCall made the presentations, the players seemed to interact with the kids each day, signing session on the last day...

The club ran this course for 5 days from 8.30am to 4pm, at a great cost of £55, so credit where its due....well done MFC, the coaches and a big thanks to Stuart and his team for taking the time and effort with the boys that came along..........I really think this is the type of thing that will pay off for Motherwell in the long run, shit loads of boys in C&A (I'm sure the club shop wouldve done a roaring trade), although there were one or two rogues with 'other' clubs colours on  .

Definitey a worthwhile investment on my part and I would recommend it highly to anybody thinking of sending their boy on the Easter course!!

It certainly seems that the club have got there act together in this area and it is long overdue.

There is so much potential in and around Lanarkshire to turn the young lads that would otherwise support the old firm into Motherwell fans. It wont happen overnight but it is great to read the positive feedback.

That and anything that brings in extra revenue for the club has to be applauded. The Community team deserve a lot of kudos and this is undoubtedly the way forward for a provincial club like Motherwell.

Keep up the good work
