  1. I’m his son actually. The generosity of people has brought me to tears a couple of times this week. His funeral is on Wednesday 18th September at 10am at the Linn Crematorium. I’m making it my target to get to the Ross County game as the big man would be furious if I missed a game at Fir Park.

  2. Thoughts and best wishes to you and the family Frazzle. Didnt know your dad but recognised his face from round Fir Park. Having lost my old man prematurely a good few years back, I will be eternally grateful to him for giving me my love of our wee diddy club. I hope you get the same comfort that I get every time I visit Fir Park. Its a shared bond that can never be broken. All the best mate.

  3. Me and my mum have also sat in the Cooper for 25 years, and whilst I'm not aware of actually knowing you or your dad, I recognise him from the photos as a regular face in the stand. I hope you make it to the County game...I lost my dad suddenly a week before the Aberdeen Scottish Cup semi at Hampden the other season, and going to that game was the best thing I could have done during that whole period. I can also confirm that if anyone was still wondering with the benefit of hindsight where Curtis Main pulled a finish like that from, it was my da' making it happen. Apologies for misleading everyone . All the best to you and yours.

  4. Looking in advance at Hamilton away on their plastic pitch then two big city clubs with budgets that dwarf ours the thought of three wins would seem ridiculous. I think it’s fair to say the management and players have to come out with a huge amount of credit for doing exactly that. The new signings along with Donnelly are also bit by bit showing they may have plenty to offer.

  5. We went to Hibs at Fir Park on the afternoon of my mum's memorial service, because it's what she'd have expected us to do. We lost 4-1, and we were so bad that Bob Malcolm scored. She had zero interest in the fitba' (even though she somehow usually knew the score before we came home) and she'd have found it hilarious that we'd have wasted our money on that "load of tripe".

  8. Been a bit like the Hibs game. 3 - 0 at halftime wouldn't have flattered us, but at 1 - 0 Hearts are still in it. Need to kill it off.

  9. Looking at the Norwich and Celtic games today, I know who I'd rather be playing for.

  10. My, my, how the fickle tide of fan opinion changes! A few weeks ago, Seedorf and Hylton were being singled out as a pair of duds - without being given the time and opprtunity to settle into a new club and country's culture. Admittedly its still early days but IMO they have shown they have the required skills and application to be successful for us. They provide a really exciting dimension that is great to watch and the like of which hasn't been seen at FP for quite some time. Long may it continue.

  11. Having come through it and got the three points its a bit easier to look back on things and reflect on how good that was today. If we'd have chucked it away having twice been ahead by a couple of goals it undoubtedly would have been a different story but we got there, deservedly so, and can savour three fine points. It wasn't pretty for the opening spell. We looked pretty comfortable, save for the odd moment or two, but weren't creating that much. Gallagher was of course influential in changing that with the shot that was tipped over and the header from the resultant corner. It certainly seemed to give us a good bit more confidence and we could easily have added another couple before the interval. Donnelly's effort off the bar would have been sweet but the chance almost on half-time when Polworth, I think, shot when Cole was set for a tap in had you quietly wondering if we might pay for the misses in the second half. The second, and indeed third goals, were fantastic not only in terms of execution and the scenes they sparked but that we forced and then capitalised upon the oppositions errors and hesitancy. How often it feels like it's the other way. How refreshing. But we kept making it hard for ourselves, even passing up the opportunity to go 4-2 ahead through Long. In fairness we did see those last 5-10 minutes out pretty well. It was particularly amusing for that minute or so we were almost trolling Hearts by winning a throw in, taking possession and scudding off some random Jambo bodypart to win another throw in. Then repeat. Then repeat again. We also did particularly well to negotiate the full ninety with no red cards given Polworth and Donnelly were booked very early on. It will largely be lost in the focus on the win but that Ikpeazu managed to get to the 89th minute and then only got booked for dissent is an absolute nonsense. He must literally have been responsible for half of the fouls Hearts conceded. I didn't quite know what we were going to get. Yes, they've had their issues of form lately but they routinely dispatch us at Tynecastle and should have had the psychological edge having beaten us recently. We can be very satisfied I think however the way we've gone there and been physically and mentally strong and shown no small amount of skill to get the win.

  12. That was fantastic from us, a blast back to our best tyncastle performances under mcghee (1st season) and mccall, with the caveat that i have never seen hearts quite so shitte at home. Brilliant ballsy performances and goals from our young wingers, pressed and broke all game. Donnelly superb sitting deep. Crowd buzzing too, shift from the bois.

  13. Let’s hope we can maintain our good run through the next few games. Definately a few winnable games coming up but only if we play well and apply ourselves. We won’t get points just for turning up.

  19. What a pass there from Polworth. Anyone wanting him dropped needs their head checked. Also I'm late in tuning in but I assume he got the assist from the corner?

  20. It's easy to forget that this was in the days before budget flights and most of our support went by bus. I was on one of the buses that left Fir Park at 11pm - seemed like a good idea at the time! Cracking trip and Dortmund had some set-up and they've kicked on since then.

  21. I celebrated as a lot of others did (nothing to do with the copious amounts of alcohol) and for 10 minutes after still believed we were 1-0 up

  22. Donnelly and Campbell are hardly lightweight. I think there's a bit of revisionism going on here. It wasn't that long ago the same theory was being applied to Accies at New Age Douglas Park, but that midfield prospered there. The last thing we want to be doing is start dropping our players that can pass a ball. If anybody wants to watch that kind of game the Rugby World Cup is starting soon. We lost the last game against Hearts because 11 out of 11 players failed to perform. I don't think that will happen in Saturday's game.
