  1. You're assuming that he was good enough back then? When he went to QOTS last season was he looking head and shoulders above the rest of the players there? And the competition in the Championship? I don't recall much demand for him to be our starting full back this season, and I don't recall any shock or dismay when he was loaned out to Cove either. I remember a few voices saying he should be kept as back-up, but that's hardly the kind of chat surrounding a player who's a stick-on to become a regular in Serie A. It was obvious very early on that Ramsey and Hickey were top drawer talent. The closest we've had to that was Turnbull. I have a feeling that Johnston has always been viewed as someone who could potentially go on and become a player, but who was never the type who was turning heads early on. Sure, he's done pretty well since January, but I'm not sure he was that good that the club should have been offering him the type of money he couldn't refuse a year ago or so. It could be that he's suddenly found his stride in the last six months or so. That happens, and he now has every right to hold off on a new deal and see what's out there. Or, it could be that he never intended to sign a new deal with us at all? Maybe he's always planned to ride this initial deal out and then see what's on offer? There's a whole lot of variables involved in these situations, so it's unfair to blame the club without knowing how it has all played out.

  2. To bring out my old Morecambe and wise gag about McLeish's £2 million ..he spent the right amount of money....but not necessarily....on the right players!! 🤣🤣

  3. Been really impressed with Dan the Man since he signed. Reminds me of Tom Aldred with no nonsense attitude. If he continues this form I hope we can keep him. Him and butcher could be the 2 key signings this season

  6. To be honest, anyone who played in that rangers side who participated in those two play off games is a hero to me. They gave me unbridled joy I hadn’t felt since the cup final of 91.

  7. We will never ever make any money on our youth players unless we play them more in the first team it's as simple as that. I would rather have seen a Max Johnston pushing for a first team since start of season than O Donnell who has been utterly useless for well over a year when he has came in. Least with a young one you will get endless effort and keen to Impress some of the performances I witnessed from certain first team players last 7 months of so I wouldn't let them on the training pitch.

  8. Not happy with this appointment because he used to play for Rangers and us getting people in who are tarnished by their association to that vile institution does nothing for the image of our great wee community club.

  9. 100% agree but how much do we pay them? £4k a week? Maybe £5k or what about 6k? For us to fork out that kind of cash we'd need to be damn sure they were the real deal.

  10. According to transfermarket Hearts made 1.7 million for Hickey and Aberdeen made 4.9 million for Ramsay. I take it they were not development fees Sorry i have to disagree its poor from the club to not have there assets tied down. I have no problem with players leaving because we are a development and selling club. BUT we must ensure we get value which in this case looks like we won't so who's fault is that then What about treating your better assets like Alan Campbell or Turnbull i.e play them i the first team and let them find their level, i think we've all got a fairly good idea what level McGuire and Cornelius are and i don't expect to make fortunes out of them, lets face it when Johnston was getting farmed out who thought that he would have been a good sellable asset we hardly saw him in the first team to judge. The path to first team from Motherwell Youths is nowhere near as clear as some would make out just look at our last managers failings from his words when he was appointed and many on here want him back running the academy
