I think we've been right where we belong for the past 30 odd years. In the top division, sometimes up, sometimes down, reaching cup finals, (very) occasionally winning a trophy and qualifying for Europe on a semi regular basis. There's nothing in our history that suggests we're punching above our weight, nor that we should be doing a lot better. Motherwell FC has improved my life for nearly 50 years and my dad's for a lot longer. It's still the main topic of conversation every time we go for a drink - hopefully next week we'll be toasting a couple of wins.6 points

There are cunts on here who are never happy with any result. When I got my first season ticket in '75, there were two guys who sat behind me, who used to say stuff like 'occhhh, that was a bad goal' when we scored. MJC, Steelboy and Yodo are probably descended from them.3 points

I didn't want Kettlewell to get the job. It seemed the easy option at a lower than low point - plus, he does talk a very good game, which generally makes me suspicious of folk's actual abilities. But, like any Motherwell manager or player, I wanted him to succeed, which he did. I still feel the same and don't want to see him booted, but between his summer signings and our recent results, he's entering dangerous territory for any manager. Hopefully he can find a way out, but it needs to start soon. Preferably tomorrow night. The basic job for every Well boss has to be, keep us up. The board's job is to make sure they neither panic nor wait too long in situations like this. I wouldn't fancy either job.3 points

Think some folk have forgotten the half time score. Yes it's not a win but tell you what we would all have taken a 2-2 draw then. Surely we can all be relieved with that?2 points

If this finishes 2-2 then it does nothing more than paper over the ever growing cracks. We are rank rotten.2 points

Iām a wee bit younger than you by the sounds of it but inspite of how some of my posts may sound at times Iām exactly the same. I genuinely couldnāt imagine life without supporting Motherwell FC and like you whenever I meet my dad for a beer itās one of the main topics. They frustrate the shite out of me more often than not but outwith family and friends the club is the one constant in life for me and I wouldnāt have it any other way.2 points

Which he squandered on Obika, Wilkinson, Bair, and Shaw. We've also saved money on attackers' wages by punting Sheilds and putting Mahon, Tierney, and Ferrie out on loan. You could also add McKinstry's wage to that list. I get the need to cut the wage bill and not directly replace players, which has been done. But, Biereth aside, Kettlewell has absolutely pissed the KVV+ wage up the wall.2 points

Failed managers at every level always get another gig eventually previous records etc count for nothing. Thats the way they operate big signing fee, guaranteed income whether they are successful or not, its good work if you can get it.2 points

The best thing he did was break his jaw and give us Jamie Dolan day2 points

See I have never seen it like that because I saw hammell as a guy that inherited Alexanderās team, made 4 signings. Two had returned to their parent clubs injured by Nov and had at one point and I (quote his press conference) 13 first team players out injured he was a guy who desperately needed a window and players which he got eventually but didnāt get the time to spend playing them together. The players he signed that were a big reason for our up turn in fortunes were Casey/blaney and butcher at the back and the likes of Mandron /obika to play alongside van veen it was those same players that kettlewell inherited and got the benefit of. when you look at both managers there starting points were in stark contrast2 points

Modern life is rubbish eh. People don't have any patience anymore and everything needs to happen now for their own benefit and apparent well being. Social media helps the minority to whip up a crisis, when in the past it was a blip. Club success anywhere rarely happens overnight and managers need time to build a team, especially clubs who don't have much money. Every teams fans forum, say the same. Sack. The manager as he's hopeless etc etc. Perhaps we can be different for once and our fan base can be a bit more realistic about our level in the game and support the manager/players.1 point

No itās because he is a proven solid manager at our level who has a reputation of taking no shite and knows how to organise his teams. Thatās never going to happen. We would never be able to match his wage demands and even if we did our mentality and outlook as a club would put him off straight away. Love him or hate him Neil Lennon is a winner and wants to be involved with clubs who share his outlook. We donāt, so thatās why he will never come near us.1 point

Minute we hit bad form he disappears. First half last Wednesday was an embarrassment1 point

Slattery's got to come off before he's sent off, he's just punched the ball then complained to the ref. Get him off.1 point

Yep....they would perform well for 3 months then just drop levels like they did for Hammell and SK. My anger is with players rather than SK.1 point

At the end of the day, its a game of football. Why a few bad results, when we were playing well, should suddenly impact experienced players to the extent all confidence has gone and bad result snowball is beyond me. Two crosses into the six yard box, and we lose two goals. Maybe instead of trying to walk the ball into the net, have a few attempts at goal from outside the area.1 point

Feel really sorry for all the supporters driving through to Perth to watch this on a Tuesday evening. I think this will be Kettlewell gone although i dont really feel like he was the problem. Players who were playing well at the start of the season just dont seem interested now š¤·āāļø1 point

Yeah I'd be happy with any kind of win just to stop the rot. We have two favourable games coming up before the international break then we get hit by Celtic away when the domestic footy returns. Horrible to think that we could possibly go three months without a win if we don't start getting our act together. It's scary how the last few months have went, like you say after the games against the arse cheeks and St Mirren I think everyone was agreed that had we had all our forward options available we would have probably been able to take many points from that trio of games. Since the Livi game we have went right off the rails which is a shame because the likes of Spittal, Miller, Slattery, Casey, Kelly etc had set a high bar and it was actually a joy to watch them.1 point

I am going to be different and try to put a positive spin on tonight. I really hope we get a reaction tonight and a massive 3pts. I am not papering over the cracks and fully aware of the bad run we are on but for me it's only been last 4 games we haven't performed. Very unlucky against St Mirren and old firm but granted still no points. Buck stops with the manager but the players need to have a good look at themselves, some the past few weeks have had massive dip in form..... Slattery, Kelly and dare I say it ..Casey. Tonight I don't care about performance, give me a scrappy boring 1-0 win to hopefully stop this bad run. COYWWWWWWWWW1 point

Then he left us with no choice but to play Stevie Woods again which is equally unforgivable.1 point

I find it interesting that Kettlewell sent Frail out to do his pre-match presser. Maybe there's nothing in it, as number two's do this sporadically. However, it was noticeable that Frail kept talking about the 50% win rate, which is excellent to be fair, but it's the feast or famine that's irking the fans. You could win every game one season and lose every game the following season. The former will not prevent the latter from leading to a manager being emptied. The here and now is the most important, and it's not good enough. As I said previously, I'm not calling for his head, but I think he'll be a dead man walking should we lose tonight.1 point

Being an arsehole doesnāt make someone a bad manager. Quite often you find itās the opposite. St.Johnstone havenāt hired him to hand out werthers originals at training and dance through the fields of rural Perthshire of a summer evening, theyāve hired him to get them out of a relegation battle and Levein will do that imo.1 point

As I said about Bair in another thread, I want him to succeed. It would be mental for me, as a Motherwell fan, to not want him to become this incredible success story. Same with Kettlewell. I'm hoping with every fibre of my being that he can turn this around and make a success of it.1 point

Who has won two trophys since we last managed it in 1991? Us or Kilmarnock? Who has beaten Rangers several times in the league since 2002? Us or Kilmarnock? The answer to both questions is the same. Iāll give you a clueā¦it isnāt us.1 point

Completely agree, keeping obika on was the lazy option,he was average last season when he wasn't injured, that set the tone for a piss poor transfer window.bair is shite, the best thing that can be said about him is that he works hard and that's where it ends,I thought wilkinson might have been a decent signing but he's a carthorse, throw in shaw and our option are as bad as I can remember.we would have been as well keeping shields and mandaron that's how bad things are.1 point
