How is Adam Livingston doing, haven’t heard much about him lately?

He seems to play every week and East Fife are sat mid-table, so he must be doing alright I suppose. Wouldn’t claim to be an expert right enough.

That was just rank rotten all over. We completely played into their hands with our ‘style’ of football. Changing the shape to a 4-4-2 just did not work as we lost the midfield battle.

Aberdeen were dross also. However Wullie Miller said they where slick and dominant for the 90mins. He was really impressed by them seemingly....

Aye, that was really strange, I thought they were mince as well.

Let’s be honest, nobody really gave a shit about the game tonight. I was there and I didn’t give a shit.

Really don't get the Murphy stuff. He left us so long ago that he doesn't even register as a former Motherwell player to me, just a Rangers fan kissing the Rangers badge after scoring against Hearts.

I'll probably still boo him at Fir Park. Just because I like booing.

I hope he has to hit a penalty against us in the Cup Final, because he was right pish at them.

We also don't have the luxury of being Arsenal. Motherwell can't really afford it taking 6 months to a year for a player to bed in, we really have to see them producing within 2-3 months of the season starting such is the cut throat nature of our league. That goes for every team in the Premiership out with Celtic, Aberdeen and Rangers.

I also dont think its completely outrageous to expect a professional footballer to be able to pass a ball 5 yards to a team mate.

  5. I like this discussion on our midfield and agree with most comments. I think a top 6 place will be one by the team that wins most 50/50 tackles against similar standard opposition. For Motherwell, this will mean ditching a creative player for three battlers in the middle of the park - perm any three from McHugh, Campbell, Rose, Grimshaw, Bigirimana. If we play only two, we are liable to be out fought, and spend most games moaning at McHugh et al for wasting and losing possession.

By limiting the number of creative players, this is going to mean the forward line will have to work hard. Main for one looks up for it. Ciftci took his goal well and could potentially create goals out of nothing a la Moult.

One tactic that often puts the frighteners up SPL defences is pace - especially runners with the ball at their feet. We have Cadden, Frear, and the under used MacLean who if released from defensive duties, could pose more of a threat and feed Ciftci and Main.

I don't think we have the personnel for silky, Cruyff/Neeskins, total football. But if SR can use the St J, Dundee and Kilmarnock games to get re-galvanize that battling spirit of our early season form, the results, if not the performances, should be more pleasing.

"Get intae them" the battle cry.

See, and I really hope that this doesnt come across as arsey, but Im not really having this at all. The midfield is crying out for someone who can put his foot on the ball and find a bit of space like Bigirimana. Against Ross County he was stripped and ready to come on, which was exactly the right sub at that point to see the game out, and suddenly he was told to sit down and Petravicious came on instead.

Yesterday I felt like it was the exact right thing to do again as there was starting to be a bit more space in the midfield during the second half and he didnt even get a sniff. I wasnt at Easter Road, but apparently he contributed a great deal when he came on and he definitely did at Firhill earlier in the season.

I know this sounds like Im some fan-boy here, but I would at least like to see someone try and play a bit of football in the team. If we try and go the rest of the season with a midfield of McHugh, Campbell and Rose my eyes will end up bleeding watching it, it should be Campbell and one of the other two max.

Edit: I might have either mis-read this or quoted the wrong post. Might as well just leave it here now.

  6. For me it just suggests a team carrying a number of players that for varying reasons aren't 100% fit and are being managed back to the point where they are.

Robinson I'll grant you is far from the most expansive gaffer who overloads his teams with attackers but I just see this as a compromise between managing the squad whilst putting out a team that has the potential of returning with a point (with attacking options awaiting as and when required).

It might well be, but he does have a completely mental decision in him from time to time, like starting Grimshaw ahead of Campbell in the League Cup Final right out of the blue.

  7. Campbell aye, but McHugh? No chance.

His distribution is absolutely appalling. Continually gives the ball away, and a fair share of needless free kicks. He's hopelessly ineffective offensively, and a liability defensively. Would happily see him relegated to the bench.

    3 points though...

Genuinely though McHugh has a really good game. Hes properly become a target for the moany fuckers in our support very quickly. I counted one misplaced pass last night that led to a breakaway for Ross County and folk were on at him as though he was having a nightmare.

  8. Twitter seems like a well scary place, Im not actually on it but if I ever look at comments below tweets theyre genuinely ridiculous/terrifying.

From a quick look below the club statement there appears to have been as many Celtic fans there last night as there were in Seville.
