If you give Frear the ball in the right place, he'll deliver. He's an out-and-out winger who needs to hit the bye-line. Not sure Dunne-the-Bun knows how to find him yet.
Sure it took Frear a run of about 8 games last year before he started contributing anything really. Probably just has to play himself into form a bit.
Funny how differently people are seeing Tanner's performance today, I also thought he was really poor, but what do I know? Other than those two we were excellent I thought, the midfield 3 all had great games, and McHugh and Bigirimana don't actually look too similar, which I was a bit wary of before seeing them playing together.
Ross Forbes is still pish.

'Footie Ace'. Fuck me, that's some shoddy research, even for The Sun.

When the team put more application into the warm up than they did for the first 45 minutes then they get booed. you dont see that on the TV but is was plain to every fan who turned up. Its not silly its a natural reaction when you see performances like the first half. This isn't the first time that Motherwell have done this. We cannot just turn up for 45 minutes in each game if we want to stay in the league this season. There is no 'hate' that I can see for Heneghan however his performance was terrible. What were you expecting when he gifted them the goal, almost fucked up again by scoring in his own net and unable to hold off a forward who looked 5'4 bullying him.
We won 5-1!

lol that has got to be the understatement of the century, were you watching the same game at all..?? They deserved to be booed..no application at all first half, most players were asleep and not interested. Heneghan was a bonbscare the whole game. Gifted them the goal, nearly scored an og. A minute to go he has the ball, can kick it out the park if he wants but passes it straight to one of their players and they are on the attack and nearly score. Gets bullied by players half his size. Fans around me had their eyes covered every time a ball came near him.
Pass marks for Kipre, Carson, our captain and our subs...everyone else was in first gear and looked scared they would get an injury if they upped it to 2nd gear.
They really didn't deserve to be booed, that's just silly. I don't get the hate for Heneghan at the moment, he'll be fine this season.

A wee novelty for me to see us on the telly as I couldn't make it along. Did I honestly hear folk booing at half-time? At 1-1 in our first game of the season. Unbelievable.
I think Michael Stewart might be schizophrenic, I couldn't figure out whether we were being pish and failing to stroll it past a lower league team or whether we were a class above them, he seemed to change his mind every two minutes. I thought we played our way into the game and were easily the better side other than about ten minutes where we fell asleep a bit. The rusty passing and defensive mistakes were all to be expected. The only player that I thought had a compete stinker was Frear, while Heneghan looked a bit shaky a couple of times.
Finally, I've never been one to go along for the myth that former players always score against us, but when Adam fucking Cummins gets one then you really have to wonder if there's something in it.

Anyone who worries about the scores or performances in pre-season games is daft. The one thing to take from those highlights is that our home strip is cracking.

Hope his first input is ditching the mad 'running round cones' thing that we do at the start of each half.

'Invincible' treble, papping both sides of the Old Firm out of the Scottish and beating Aberdeen 7-2 in the final of the League Cup.

Watching on Alba. Fuck, that mistake from Samson is even worse than it looked at the game. For my ten cents, I had a right moan on the way out that the only time the ball landed at Louis Moult's feet in the box, he stuck it in the top corner, yet we spent the whole match launching the fucking thing at his head. Horrible, diagonal, long ball shite. Desperate stuff.

Anier was mince as well. Vigurs actually played alright but, astonishingly, went off injured.
-
In the interest of balance on this thread, Louis Laing was absolutely shite today, and I'm glad we are shot of him.

I honestly can't believe I'm about to say this but.......when is McManus back? Not that I rate him mind (I think he's guff) but we could really be doing with McHugh back in midfield.
-
So what's the craic then? Someone in at the start of the week, couple of training sessions and then cuff Aberdeen 4-1 on Saturday? Aye? Smashing.

Zak Jules is bollocks.

Bit disappointing that Alex Neill hasn't had the bullet from Norwich yet. Would have taken him in a heartbeat.

Unlike seemingly everyone in Scotland, I didn't hate Mark McGhee. But he had to go. Someone wrote the other day that it seemed like even the support had given up, which I think was fair comment. On Saturday I wasn't even angry, just scunnered, and it seemed the same for everyone around me.

Fans are just as bad at assessing managerial talent as they are playing talent. If it ever does come to picking a new gaffer I'd prefer someone based on skills and track record over "I liked him as a player".
Some short memories in here regarding the quality of performances under Butcher - not to mention the lies about his departure.
Some short memories regarding the quality of performances under Billy Davies as well. He can fuck right off.

Daniele De Rossi just absolutely halved a boy, won the ball but was completely out of control and caught the player on the follow through.
Yellow card.
Still raging.

Here's my 10 cents:
I thought the starting 11 was dreadful, but it actually seemed to work.
The most annoying thing about the first goal wasn't that Lasley was slow to close the ball down, it's that the spot that the shot was hit from is pretty much exactly where McHugh would have been.
As petty an argument as it is, if Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen or even Hearts had seen the amount of dodgy red cards that we have over the past month there would be an outcry in the media. There's absolutely no point in us appealing because it won't be overturned, but Rangers defenders can punch the opposition and get away with it. I'm still not sure that Lucas should have gone against Accies, let alone the last couple.
I said after the game that I genuinely can't gauge how we are playing at the moment, mainly due to the fact that we are losing men to shite decisions nearly every week.
This is definitely a rant. I am pure raging with the world at the minute.

This'll be great. Hearts are shite away from home, we've obviously got the finest midfield in the land all of a sudden and they pumped Rangers the other night so they'll bring a couple of thousand through. It's all about the Benjamins.
Probably finish 1-1.
-
Reckon it'll help us if Hearts beat Rangers tonight. They've adopted the incredible tactic of actually marking Kenny Miller. Incredible stuff, Cathro is clearly a genius.
-
I finally decided to watch the highlights. That is never a sending off for McDonald. He's gone in with one foot and just over-stretched. It's a poor challenge that was timed badly, but the simple fact is that if it hadn't have happened after a Rangers player was already off and, more importantly, right in front of their bench, it would have been a yellow all day. Willie Collum is a fucking twat that couldn't wait to send him off and level it up. I'll probably just forget about it now, but I was raging at the game, and for a couple of hours afterwards. Seeing Kiernan's yellow again just makes it even worse mind.
-
I honestly thought folk were at it when I read that Kiernan's ban had been overturned. But then, there it is in black and white on the BBC website.
I mean, he's obviously shite anyway, but fucking hell, he punched the guy! What a farce.

This is just unfair and inaccurate. It could be Cadden as well.
