For those of you that haven't checked your inbox within the last 20mins -Stuart McCall Direct No.18.
Good evening 'Well fans,
It is disappointing to email you after our first defeat of the season but I don't suppose, realistically and in all honesty, anyone expected that run to last forever. However, it's frustrating though that it has come at the hands of Rangers who have proved a thorn in the side of our club for best (or worst) part of ten years.
I said in my programme notes today that we needed three things to click into place if we were going to win against Rangers.
We needed them to have an off day – they didn't! We needed to play at the very top of our game – we didn't! And we needed the rub of the green from the match officials and even that didn't happen. Not that I am having a go at Craig Thomson, he actually did very well to spot the handball in the lead up to our "goal". If only there were a few more bodies blocking his line of vision.
Rangers too still have a fair bit of talent going forward with Davis, Lafferty, Jelavic and Naismith, all International players, they caused us problems. From our point of view, we didn't threaten nearly enough and sometimes our final ball let us down.
The second goal was the killer. That was the one which really changed the complexion of the match. To have success against the Old Firm, as well as the three things I mentioned previously, you really have got to try and score first so you have something to go on. We didn't make McGregor work as much as we should have and that'll be the focus of our training in the coming weeks.
What is good is that we have a match almost straight away to get today's result out of our system. We play Clyde in the League Cup this Wednesday and we'll do our very best to make sure we progress into the next round against a team who have started well.
We are still second and it has still been an excellent start so it's not all doom and gloom. Clyde this Wednesday then Dunfermline next Saturday; these are the games we will be judged on!
Thanks again for your support – it was great to see a 10,000+ crowd inside Fir Park today – I am just sorry we couldn't get the result you wanted.
Enjoy what is left of your weekend.
All the best,
Stuart McCall

Usually I don't pay much attention to the half time entertainment at Fir Park, however, I think the club seem to have 'upped the anty' at half time to the point I'm actually entertained! I thought the Hearts game might have been a one off but it seems that it's going to be consistent throughout the season.
I had a good laugh at the two lads sliding around the pitch on the "Convert for Cash" challenge. It actually looked like free money to me as Claret clearly isn't as gifted as Randy in goals. When that was over, I found myself following the wee kiddy game of football infront of the East Stand and was cheering & clapping when one of the lads scored a goal.
It might not be to everyone's taste but I certainly thought that it was good, light hearted fun for ALL ages & I'd happily welcome more of that in future at Fir Park!
(Here's the link for anyone on Facebook who fancys having a go at this Saturday's CONVERT FOR CASH challenge at half time -good luck!)

Randomly found this online a few minutes ago. Made me laugh.

Hardly behind the scenes. There was representation there from some spl & 1st division clubs at the request of the select teams agent / manager.
"behind the scenes"
–adjective
1.happening or conducted out of view of the general public
Which, unless I missed all of the announcements, the notice on the official site, McCall's pre-match interview, the BBC website preview, the Evening Times precursor article, the reports in the papers, and the segment on Sky Sports News - is pretty much on the money.

I'm delighted with Motherwell's 3-Nil performance today against Caley.
Lasley's goal was an absolute screamer and I'm hopefull of seeing it again, in slo-mo, on MFC TV sometime soon.
I'm absolutely delighted with the score, the points and being top of the league -long may it continue!
'Mon the 'Well!

The strip looked cracking but how does it look as just a top? Don't imagine it would look as good with just a top & jeans or the like. Anyone who has one fancy letting us know if it still looks cracking as a top without the natty shorts & socks?
It looks alright with a pair of jeans Ian.

The only game I intended to go to before the season started was Craigan's testimonial but I'm glad I managed yesterdays game. It was fantastic value for a tenner and genuinely felt like a competitive fixture. Both sides played excellent football.
I'm going to echo what has already been said but Law and Murphy were outstanding yesterday. Law will certainly be a key player for us this season and he's fantastic to watch.
I applaud the Leeds fans who came up in impressive numbers.
I hope they enjoyed the game and their day out to FP.

If any of those match worn shirts from todays game with Leeds go up I'll certainly be interested in bidding!
You beat me to it David!

Good morning 'Well fans,
I hope you are all enjoying the summer and the return to pre-season.
I am just writing you a short message to plead for your support tomorrow night against Partick Thistle. Normally, pre-season friendly matches aren't the most attractive of prospects to your average fan.
However, tomorrow night, we pay tribute to a modern Motherwell legend in Stephen Craigan.
When you are a manager of any club, guys like Stephen are absolutely vital both on and off the pitch. You need natural leaders and in Craigan, you have that.
He's been a servant to Motherwell Football Club over 14 years and regardless of your opinions on him, one thing that absolutely no-one can question is his commitment, his desire and his effort every time he pulls on a jersey. I believe he is, by some distance, Motherwell's most capped player – an honour that deserves a fitting tribute in itself.
He deserves a good turnout tomorrow and I hope you can encourage as many people as possible to come along and give him a proper night.
Thanks again for your continued support,
All the best,
Stuart McCall

Has there been any word on concessions for kids and so forth?
It's been confirmed as £5 for concessions (Under 16s and Over 60s). £10 for adults as previously posted by Finlay.
It's a shame the club didn't post the confirmed pricing up as "News" on the fishal site (or update FB or Twitter).
I hope that Craggs gets a good turnout despite the lack of PR the match has recieved.

Apparently I'm going, when is it?
Apparently you have some good mates then!
It's on this coming Saturday (the 16th) with a 3pm kick off.
-
I didn't know if it was pay at the gate or not so I went into the Ticket Office for mine last week to avoid missing out. I had no problems getting my ST seat either.

i think its inevitable we'll leave fir park but when the time comes to move i hope the board and fans come together and discuss ideas to get the best possible stadium for the money thats avaliable it would be really depressing to end up with a st mirren type stadium where the only difference is claret and amber seats
x2 on this mate, although I can only see shareholders getting a say in the aesthetics of the new ground and having no say in its location or design.
Being realistic, I doubt the PATG/ST holders would have much of a say in it, if any at all. I remain hopeful though....

Like many others, I wrote this strip off when the shop unveiled it. Underwhelmed isn't a strong enough word.
Unlike fatcalf, I've not seen it in person but these new shots of the top certainly do it more justice than the original ones.
I'll only be buying 1 Motherwell top for this season and these pics have forced me to reconsider if this is a contender after all....
For anyone needing a slightly closer look:
-
Fucking hell. Somebody start the season, gonnae?
Agreed.
Then we all have something new to disagree about,
So once the season starts your going deny it's started?!
-
-
Eightsixteen if your gonnae quote me and try and be funny, at least get your facts right. I DID NOT revive the thread. Nice try though.
Lol, lighten up mate -tis jist a bit of fun on the internet. Don't take it too seriously.

Surely singing nazi songs is ok, after all celtic get away wi singing songs about murdering innocents and its deemed "political".
-
Fuxake never heard so much shite over a pre-season friendly. Used to be we'd be looking forward to seeing the boys in action after a few weeks off. Who gives a fuck who we're playing, why all the pety point scoring. It's a Motherwell game end of, the opposition is irrelevant, yer either going or yer no' frankly if yer no' that's up to you. No need for over dramatic explanations or getting all huffy over it.
+1 on this
