  1. Chris Higgins? Stats That's a grand total of one
  2. McGachie will be over the age limit for U-19 league at the start of next season, I think that has more to do with him being released than his talent/lack of it. If McHugh can barely get a game I highly doubt McGachie would get the kind of regular first team football needed for him to develop. All the best to him anyway. Personally, I'm most disapointed about Lawless, he was excellent against Clyde early in the season and always looked full of running on the ball and off whenever I saw him. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Albion Rovers given he's spent more most of the season there. EDIT - forgot the U-20 league had been given the go ahead from the start of next season, rather spoils my argument
  3. Any news yet on whether he will be staying on in a coaching role? Would be nice if it happened but I'd imagine finances might make it unrealistic. Hope he starts on Sunday, and gets the standing ovation he deserves after all he's done for the club over the last few seasons.
  4. What are the odds on Lafferty scoring on Saturday? Would be a tidy wee bet I'd imagine. Might as well get something out of it if the prick continues his scoring run against us.
  5. Fantastic atmosphere the night, cannae mind the last time I heard the whole ground singing like that. Fair play to the large traveling Hibs support too, really added to the game. Great game of fitba
  6. Got to go for Higdon. I know it's a cliche, but he was almost unplayable tonight. Honourable mention for Ojamaa as well though, deserved a goal for all his running and build up play.
  7. That 'formula for a cupset' segment was fuckin cringeworthy.
  8. This. Couple of folk here seem to be under the impression that pace and fitness are the same thing. Also, now the reserve league is gone, it's a lot harder for fringe players to get match fit, bounce games will only take them so far. Playing a regular 90 minutes is the best way to get fitness levels up and keep them there. There's only so much you can do in the gym. If Forbes isn't getting the game time, you can't expect him to be in top condition. I hope he stays personally, at least until the end of the season. Good option to have in the squad.
  9. Not surprised to see Hateley with nul points. Had a bit of a shocker. Hope he can get his early season form back. Randolph for me, though I thought Clancy played alright too. Not many candidates
  10. Our squad is small, but so is the club's budget. If we were rolling in it, I'd welcome back Hughes in a heartbeat. But we're not. Midfield is about the one area we do have strength in depth, so why spend a sizeable amount on a players wages for cover we don't need? If Jennings and Lasley get injured, Law can drop into the middle and Forbes can come in. If Murphy and Higdon get injured, McHugh's leading the line himself, and while I rate him highly, he's no superman. Come january, I think that cash will be needed for a bit of cover up front and at the back. Because we have a small squad the club needs to be very careful about getting the right balance of players in.
  11. Was a great player for us, but we don't need him. Current squad has done us proud so far this season so why risk disrupting the team and we have plenty of talent on the bench to cover injuries and suspension. Forbes, Lawless, McHugh et al are more than good enough and deserve their chance if it's forthcoming. Would rather have the younger lads as cover than pay Hughes' wages just for him to be a squad player.
  12. In the area of the east stand where I was sitting today, close to the Cooper, there was plenty of support for Higdon at the start of the game. But when you play as badly as he did today, there comes a point when supporters have a right to be frustrated. I don't think he deserves the absolute pelters he's been getting from some of the boo boys who have clearly made their minds up about him already, but I don't think he deserved any applause for today's dire performance either. Murphy and Jennings haven't been at their best recently, but at least they can control a ball and hold onto it for more than 2 seconds. Totally agree about the eejits booing every time we pass the ball backwards though. Apparently possession is a bad thing now...
  13. Sutton's father in law was in at my work a few months back and we got talking, turns out that Archie Knox hated the ground Sutton walked on, which is why Brown didn't play him as often as he should. Sutton was doing an evening course up at Glasgow Uni when they took over, to give himself a little insurance for when he retires from football, and Knox told him he couldn't do both and be committed to the team. When Sutton refused, Knox went ballistic apparently, threatened to tear up his contract...
  14. It'll be a blow, but I was pretty impressed by Page at centre back at the Clyde game. Wasn't playing against top opposition sure, but his positioning was spot on all night, and looked much better going up for headers than he did last season. I think he can make the step up and cover for a few months if need be.
