  1. In terms of attendance, budget and size of clubs you're correct. However in terms of quality you're not. Teams like Carlisle, Stevenage and Shrewsbury would not compete on the park with ourselves, Celtic, Aberdeen or Dundee United.

Teams like Wolves, Sheffield United and Bristol City would most certainly compete on the park with St. Mirren, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock.

I can do selective examples aswell. Y0U6mou.gifY0U6mou.gifY0U6mou.gif

  2. I have been to a number of Swindon games over the years (I have friends down there and go with them while I am visiting) and Motherwell would beat Swindon 4 times out of 5. No disrespect to Swindon. Their crowds are around the 6-7k mark, so based on money from that and the general money that is available down there then you would think they would be better.

With the previous argument, the next post summed it up. Higdon to recently promoted Chesterfield. We can't stretch to a salary that they can offer.

And it really depends on which Swindon team you're talking about. Danny Wilson took them close to promotion, PdC's team in L2 were outstanding, as they were the first year back in L1. The only team I'd see doing better in L1 would be Mark McGhee's team.

"es they have bigger crowds and budgets but I wouldn't say any of those teams are bigger than Dundee Utd, the OF or Aberdeen and the top 5/6 in Scotland would all get promoted or at least be around the playoffs in that division."

This is just a bit stupid, isn't it. The OF skews it a bit, but take the top two of L1 out and you have much bigger teams, bigger stadiums, infrastructure, attendances and money than those left in the SPL.

  3. Conclusions being...?

I wouldn't have thought Leanne Dempster was much of a factor in his decision. She was here for what, five years? Pretty sure Hibs would have been able to put together a financial offer that would smooth over any concerns about leaving a club he'd been at for a fairly lengthy period.

EDIT: Tits, double post. Can someone delete the first one?

OK. Now, since his reputation has been described (in here) as very good, he's surely had offers in those 23 years, ones above his budget. He decides to leave during a transition in general management of the club.

There are many possibilities surrounding this, but there are one or two obvious ones.

  4. That's a bit of a crazy statement to make, you cant force a man to stay at a club, if Hibs offered more money then what can Flow do, id rather we spent extra wages on players than physios

He didn't 'force' the players to sign this summer either. It's his job to run the club and keep these people at Fir Park, and while he (rightly) gets praised for doing that, you can't help but draw conclusions when someone follows their old boss after 23 years at the club.

  5. Bit harsh? Offered a deal he couldn't refuse is the word. Her that worked her ticket knew this...

Absolutely not. Saw a lot of praise for him after the signings/contract renewals this summer. Two way street isn't it?

  6. the thinking behind Josh and Jacob Murphy is that we are short on pace and creativity out wide. Josh and Jacob would supply this and would work well together left and right. Obviously it would be a loan deal but what my thinking was that Norwich would see how Ruddy developed with us and might be more open to allow two of their younger players out on loan to us.

Another guy wee could look at is Ryan McKinnon at Newcastle... Similar kind of player to Hutch, if we're wanting loanee's this season.

Josh (I think - Jacob actually - obviously) was loaned out to Swindon last season, so they're already playing at a higher level than they would here.

But that's not the point. What's the point of suggesting it? Do you think someone is going to come on here and think "cunt, I never even thought about those two" and go sign them? They're not even based on rumour.

  7. I just never rated him, a one trick pony in my eyes, that flattered to decieve....I also hate watching Motherwell players dive.

He also got right up my nose from the start as being one of these 'Celtic-types' who had pledged their International allegiance to a foreign country rather than the one that had given him his start in life.

    Catholic?

    Wow. CfNn3gU.gif

  8. I could be talking shite but didn't I read somewhere that Gauld was trained by an independent coach rather than coming through the different youth ranks of an SPFL club? Maybe not, but it would certainly make sense.

He was with Brechin before United took their youth team. Worked with Cathro at United.

    All here.

  9. I think that is why they have things called hotels huh.gif

What other draw were you hoping to do a trip in a day laugh1.gif

I'm not wasting my money on staying overnight in Wales.

My interest went from zero to piqued when I learned it was close. It has now returned to zero.

Can we have this thread deleted please?

  10. Am I fuck reading all that.

    Edit - I got a paragraph down.

"If I said I'd love for us to leave Fir Park and move to a new stadium in Ravenscraig, I wouldn't expect to be hit with, "justify your anti Fir Park stance", "why would we want to move from FP, we already have a stadium there". I accept that, all I said was I'd like to see it and who knows, maybe things would turn out better in the long run."

You would expect to be hit with those kind of comments. You've put your view forward, it would be interesting to know why you wanted to move, and it sparks discussion with those who either disagree with moving, or those with other reasons to move.

Otherwise you just have a thread with:

    "Statement"

    "ok" x100.

  11. I'll give you a reasoned response to my hypothetical starting line up if you acknowledge it was hypothetical and therefore your comments were unjustified.

    What am I missing here?

He disagreed with your hypothetical team. This is a discussion board. There is no discussion if everyone agrees all the time. Suck it up, champ.
