  1. Yip - sorry everyone. Just saw the tweet posted on Facebook having been out all day and thought it looked legit.

They're screenshots generated from a fake tweet app https://tweeterino.com/AberdeenFC

If you were of the inclination you could generate one from the official MFC account saying we've signed Messi and Ronaldo and it'd appear with the blue tick and all that. Crop out the watermark and there you go.

  2. Main concern with this system is that we won't get the best out of Frear. With another couple of signings to come, we can hopefully revert to a back 4.

Worth noting that AFAIK we played with a back 4 in 3 of the 4 pre-season games. Happy to stand corrected but Stirling was definitely a back 4 with different personnel in each half, Livi looked the same, Gateshead was a back 3 and Barrow a back 4. I have a feeling that without McManus available and with Dembele having kb'd us Robinson doesn't fancy a Kipré & Heneghan central pairing.

Given we're more than likely still looking for another "experienced" left sided centre back then there's every chance we'll revert to a back 4 once that body comes in and/or McManus is fit.

  3. Surprised it took almost 24 hours since they went up for anyone on here to notice tbh.

Flow's already commented on them this morning and called them out as being fake. The Daily Record even ran the Motherwell deny the story as FAKE NEWS as well.

  4. I see we've agreed terms with Aberdeen for Moult. I would have preferred him to go down south to be honest.

They've made some impressive signings and should have a pretty potent forward line.

Is that the fake tweets that went up last night then?

  5. Seemed like a nice guy. Unfortunately he was utter pish.

Best of luck, can't believe another club was actually interested though.

In fairness he was part of a Grimsby side that got promotion out of that league (before being released). With Orient having just been relegated it's not a huge surprise if they bring in a few players who have experience there and Clay has a lot of games under his belt in the National League. Without being disparaging I'd think it's probably fair to say that that's Clay's level.

Wish him all the best and I can see him getting on just fine as a squad player for Orient.

  6. A lot of folk will be happy, I didn't think he was as bad as made out. Clay Away!!....was that not a children's programme from the 1970's??. C L A Y...Craig Clay away, clay away clay away clay away a clay away clay away. Young well fans will not have a clue what I am on about, older well fans will just be shaking there head saying 'taxi for grizzlyg!!!'...heh he

    It was Play Away.

  7. Deserved to be booed at half time just as they were deservedly clapped off at full time . As I said at time 1st half was abysmal no penetration , no pressing , totally pedestrian so maybe the booing woke them up as different team 2nd half . If players don't put the effort in they should be they get booed simple and yes we did win 5 1 and that's why they again deserved the applause they received at the end.

  8. Doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet that Joe Chalmers has signed with Inverness. No harm to him, but that's a better move than I thought he'd get.

2 year deal as well. He must have some agent, though by all accounts ICT fans seemed reasonably happy with his performances in the friendlies he's played thus far.

Still, his agent when that deal goes through.

  9. I posted this on P&B in January when Thomas went on loan at QoS and had posted similar on here prior to that but I think it still largely holds true, even up to his performance in Stirling where he'd beat his man but his final ball was lacking. As others (including myself) have said "flatters to deceive" is an apt description for him.

    I think this series of tweets from the MFC twitter feed on recent u20s games is quite illustrative of the 'problem' (such as it is) with Thomas;

    vs St Mirren u20s

    '67 | 1-1

Hastie links up with Thomas down the left, the latter charges at the defence, shimmies on to his left, strikes it, but it's saved.

    '70 | 1-1

It's nearly brilliant from Thomas. He picks up the ball on edge of Saints box, beats his man with a cruyff turn but shoots over

    '72 | 1-1

Thomas is at it again, beating his marker with ease & charging towards the box. His effort is better this time but Willison saves.

    vs Falkirk u20s

    '51 | 0-0

Nearly a wonder goal from Thomas. He beats his man, cuts in from the right and goes for power with his left, but it's inches over!

    '63 | 1-0

'Well sub: McFadden is off and he's replaced by Hastie.

    '66 | 2-1

'Well pull one back instantly! Campbell crosses towards Hastie who makes no mistake and fires it past Mehmet. Lively few minutes!

Invariably with Dom it's a case of "so close", "nearly brilliant", "nearly a wonder goal" etc. Whereas in the Falkirk game Hastie's on the park 3 mins and he's made an impact.

Off the top of my head in recent games Hastie has had goals against Thistle u20s, Cumbernauld Colts u20s, Falkirk u20s, Sevco u20s and in the 9-1 demolition of Aberdeen u20s. He also won the 2 penalties against Morton u20s. Tellingly that record is from the same wide attacking role as Thomas has had in the past.

  10. We are going to be playing 4-5-1. We have Frear, Tanner, McLean (made of glass), Cadden (shouldn't be considered a forward) and Hastie who can play behind Fisher/Bowman.

We are extremely short of creative players.

I agree with the latter bit but the first part I'd say it'a more likely to be a 4231 (tomato/tomatoe I suppose) McHugh, Bigirimana, Campbell and Rose are the obvious candidates for the 2 holding spots and as you say, Frear, Tanner, MacLean, Cadden +1 for the 3 behind Bowman or Fisher.

I'd imagine there's a fair chance Hastie will be out on loan given Craigan wasn't against the idea in January.

  11. Yeah that's right. Robbo said he expected an answer from him yesterday, so it might be that the club know whether it's a yes or no. If he has agreed to join it's probably that he hasn't come back up from London yet to complete the deal.

I'm not overly hopeful of him signing. At 29 this will probably be his last chance to get a decent contract and if clubs down south are after him it's likely they'll be able to outbid us. Hopefully Robbo's powers of persuasion can work again likely did with Bigi and others.

Depends on who the other teams are that have an interest. If his family is based in London and the teams looking at him are offering a better financial package and are closer to home then it's pretty much going to be a no brainer for him. His first club in England was Stevenage then he moved to Barnet which is only 20 miles away.

I'd imagine if there's another London club in for him then he'd stay put tbh.

  12. From your previous posts on the site it seems youre pretty well informed when it comes to transfers etc at the club.

Should I take from your response to my scepticism of the previous posters inside scoop that you have heard something similar in regards to Moult deciding to knock back the extension?

It doesn't have to be as black and white as him "knocking it back" though. He can easily have expressed a preference to move this window and try and earn more money elsewhere. None of that contradicts what Flow said yesterday which is that Moult hasn't given a definitive answer, a "yes" or "no". As Onthefringes says, it's about "discretion" on the part of the club in terms of the info that goes out publicly.

From the club's point of view the deal still being on the table it gives them a bit of leverage and from his point of view, well...if nothing that suits him or the club comes up by the end of the window then he can sign it and earn more money than his current contract pays for the next 6 months until they try to sell him again in January.

  13. I doubt he would either. But in that case I'd expect him to say nothing at all since he has no need to do so (especially on Twitter), rather than just lie about it.

I'm not suggesting he's lying. All he's said is that Moult has neither accepted nor rejected the offer. That's the state of play right now and it's a welcome bit of clarity but it doesn't necessarily mean that the player hasn't expressed a preference IMO.

He hasn't given them a yes or no however if they've offered him the deal and they've been "negotiating" for however long I'd suggest that they'll have a reasonable idea as to his position.

  14. I'm a big fan of Burrows but I also very much doubt that he'd come straight out on Twitter and say that Moult has knocked back the contract offer at this point in time as it'd undermine the little leverage we have. As long as the deal is on the table and viewed as an option then the club can negotiate to a point.

There are also shades of grey there as well. Devils advocating here but he could easily have said it'd be his preference to move this window but he'll still consider the contract extension. I'd say it really depends on who is actually interested and who comes in for him.

  15. If they spend that much on one player i doubt they'd be able to afford anymore decent fees so it depends how much they want him.Wouldn't be surprised if they wait til the last few days of the window and come in with a 450k offer.

If he hasn't signed the extension on offer then I'd be pretty surprised if Moult's still at the club in the last few days of the window tbh.
