  1. Getting the 240 bus from Lanark with my Dad and feeling excited as others with claret & amber scarves got on at Braidwood, Carluke,Law Hospital, Wishaw and then seeing the steam coming out of Colvilles and knowing we were almost there. Being excited at seeing foreign players for the first time, think it was Dundee United who had a couple of Scandinavians The ball going over the roof on what was then the covered terrace and the delay in either getting it back or the substitute ball coming on and being tested by the ref before play could resume.
  2. Sorry if this has been asked before, how do I get this link ?
  3. I saw him on his debut for Watford in season 1999/2000 and this sums up the local view from down here http://www.bsad.org/gone/cmiller.html
  4. By some strange co-incidence I`ve just received an email asking if I want to sign up for an AS Nancy Credit Card. I`d signed up for membership to buy tickets in the home section and this is the first I`d heard from then since then. Mind you maybe they`ve been sending the birthday cards etc to "my French address"

    John Ruddy

I was at school with him, he was playing for `Well reserves at the time and could play goalie and outfield. Big Roger Hynd was our PE teacher and I remember being in the changing rooms when they were comparing studmarks
  6. The Joe McBride from the mid `60`s who was one of my first Motherwell heroes ?
  7. I was there, a mild April evening, we only had about half of the Rangers end and I think a young Irishman may have lifted the support that night
  8. I was there, don`t remember you though, 4-1 with a D.Cooper masterclass
  9. U sure it was Cowdenbeath ? I was a student in Edinburgh at the time and remember travelling to a cup game but I thought it was at Stenhousemuir. I rememember we had a big support and their ground was crumbling to pieces but they put up a fight and we won 3-2
  10. I was working at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London when Middlesborough stayed when they were playing in the League Cup Final at Wembley. Emerson was pretty much a law unto himself and they just seemed to let him do what he wanted. Night before the game when the rest of the team were tucked up in bed he was on the table next to me in the hotels Thai restaurant with his missus tucking into Thai green curry with a couple of Singha beers. Next day he played really well
  11. I was thinking of the Spurs team who came out with this
  12. April 1960 and `Well won 3-2 but I can`t find anything yet on the Spanish line up
  13. My own personal experiences only go back to 1962 but here`s a start on the hunt, I`ll take a look at John Swinburne`s book ( History of The Steelmen 1886 - 1986 ) and see what I can come up with http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/index.php?op...&Itemid=174
  14. http://www.11v11.com/api/player/28057 ?
  15. I was at the Stoke game and Banks was magnificent that night, I still remember one save he made in the top right hand corner, he just seemed to fly through the air. Another legendary keeper was Pat Jennings who played against us for Spurs in the Texaco cup alongside Mullery, Peters and Chivers. Jennings holds the record for playing most times against Scotland - 19 Peters also scored in a World Cup Final I suppose it has to be asked - Players who have played at Fir Park who have had top 20 hits ?
  16. Has anybody got this to work ? or does it only come on at kick off ?
  17. I`m struggling to get this anywhere, protv and justin not working for me, anybody got a radio link ?
  18. Right opponents, wrong home team. Having convinced myself I`d been at these games I did a bit of research and discovered that Hearts played both in the Texaco Cup in 1973/74. As I started college in Edinburgh at the same time I must have gone along to Tynecastle to watch the games
  19. Post above I was at the Texaco cup game against Stoke, during the same era I remember seeing us gubbed by a very good Burnley team, think it was 0-3 and losing 0-1 to an Everton team with Joe Harper in. Pic at top I recognise Keith MacRae with the red hair, Keith was at Lanark Grammar 5 years above me, whilst at school he played outfield and in goal for `Well reserves and made his first team debut in goal. Our PE teacher at the Grammer was Roger Hynd
  20. St John scored most of his goals inside the 6 yard box
