  1. The more I read and hear on max johnston the more disappointed I am with the situation.

He's been here since he was 12 we have obviously looked after him and at 19 he just fuks off after 17 games and some decent performances.

Yes he's got to look after himself as has everyone but it looks like he does not care one bit for the club that has ultimately helped shape him.

Same as hastie and to lesser extent cadden unfortunately.

  2. See aberdeen have released a few. Dean Campbell and Connor mclennan I feel have something about them. Both lots of 1st team experience but neither have set Heather on fire anywhere but only 22 and 23 . Maybe kettlewell could work his magic on them and instill some confidence.  Don't imagine they would be out our price range.

This whole thread is hilarious. 10/10. Would read again.

Definitely is although would not read again.

Threats issued, name calling and a lot more lol

No wonder p&b aficionados look down on this forum.

Gave me a good laugh for 10 mins reading it anyway so keep it up those involved.

Constantly post on the forum with apparent in the know knowledge? But, I generally don't back up claims? Think you’ll find I can & do back up everything I say, it’s been remarked on here that I do also. I’ll say it again, don’t think I get any more than others, just better and it’s corroborated before I do post. In a manner that upsets a few, but, plenty & not just those who know me understand the why’s. I make no apology for that.

And if anyone has a different opinion you belittle them? Hand’s up, on occasion I have done, when it’s felt I should given the out there takes being replied to. Genuinely have taken stock of that and have refrained from doing so.

Its digressing from the topic though.

I’ve already said, some are only seeing what they want to see. If it doesn’t conform to how they think you should it’s all bad. Easy to discount from our points of view as everything may not be as it seems.

Player attack analogy was poor as it bore no relation to the idea of protest as made out in the statements. Nobody has disagreed with “if you do something wrong then you have to pay the price” of course! There has to be regulation or it’s chaos. What have they done though that’s wrong in this instance that’s required the public statements? Nothing you and a few others keep repeating on here. They are separate issue & not always by who you’re claiming to be carrying them out. Can’t reiterate that enough.

Not enjoying some awaydays is the curse of ineffective stewarding and policing in most cases I’m afraid, Reaction of some is again indigenous. Such is the make up of our away support and ground layouts it’s easy to remove yourself from the locale they choose, that’s a nod to the earlier sentiment.

Mock you may. Another nod to ineffective stewarding if they were allowed to gather up the back surely? Wouldn’t have been my choice of protest, either stay outside then enter at the agreed time or today could’ve been spent watching from afar giving trade to local business as there was live coverage and absence would receive greater coverage and give the powers that be something to focus on that isn’t as one sided offered to them by someone screaming “Woah! Look at me!”

Bloody hell slow down a wee bit and some might not be as indigenous.

Sadly that’s true. If I see a player not quite on their game I encourage him not abuse him. Some of our fans need to get a grip the abuse is way over the top.

    COYW

    Totally correct.

I also feel what's being underestimated about Wednesday is there was just encouragement generally from fans rather than what was happening at end of hammell and Alexander and other recent managers reigns.

The new manager bounce is in part down to him but also the difference in attitude from fans maybe enables players to run a wee bit further and a wee bit faster as well as wanting the ball more. The cheering for even wee tackles on Wednesday no doubt gave them a boost and I hope it continues on Sunday.

We have imo been robbed against them this season. Fir park was just one of those days but tynecastle we were cheated as Gordon should have been sent and hearts down to 9. That's not sour grapes just facts.

Looking forward to Sunday although quite aware they have a really gd team .

We don't have 5k of a core support, more like 3 maybe 4k on a good day but that's no excuse for not getting behind the team so I hope the fans do just that and support them, as long as the team do their bit as well.

Had 4k on Wednesday. So with what's been a little positivity since then maybe 4500 on Sunday.

St mirren have increased their core support to 5.5 , 6k really based on beating and drawing with glsgow 2 I feel. As well as only giving them 1200 tickets makes their fans not outnumbered at their stadium.

Anytime they come to us with 5k away fans it's not enjoyable because of results and them outnumbering us and generally taking the piss due to size of our away stand. . I am not complaining  about this as it is a good income stream but I do feel it affects our core support as you put it.

If only we could get support like play off game.

I enjoyed listening to Kettlewell's interview, sometimes it's nice to be told how it is. I found it interesting as he was hinting about wee cliques developing and he spoke about players making mistakes, it was the fact he was saying he can accept honest mistakes it makes you wonder what he was getting at

He seemed really confident talking to media and in his own abilities.  The reference to players going away in their 2s and 3s was quite telling .

The chat on here was to blame hammell for the cliques because of his attitude from those seemingly ITK. Kettlewell just in and has called it out and I suppose its all down to who you believe was in wrong.

I wasnt wanting him as FT manager although his presser has impressed me and i feel he will get a reaction from the players just due to his manner. Whether a reaction is enough for a victory I'm not sure.

Here's hoping and time will tell

I have no doubt the banners were well intended, but the days of clubs retaining players for years to develop a "passion for the badge" as they put it are long gone. As has been stated in another thread our squad is full of journey men players here for a year or two then moving on "pride and professionalism" would be a better slogan. But that said fair play to the block E lads, if nothing else it shows how the supporters are thinking just now.

Couldnt agree more and why I feel we need to retain somewhere our legends i.e hammell, clarkson, lasley, craigan etc etc. Because if we dont have ex players like these somewhere in the building then the real problems will begin. Jobs for the boys may be relevant sometimes however none of us really know who is best man for the job in numerous roles and I for one feel better if said person in role has some connection to us.

It really isn’t difficult. He’s symptomatic of the shite produced. Lauded as a steady 7/10 week to week when he signed yet, he’s never hit that height.

Furlong signed as a left back and you’d shoehorn the ineffective McGinn? Based on what? Arbroath? Skewed thinking.

Can't remember him getting torn to bits by any wingers. Not saying he's been outstanding either.

Furlong has only played u23 football .

    All about opinions.

4-4-2 against an Aberdeen midfield 3/5? Overrun from the off?

I’d be matching up in the midfield with a hard press as we did earlier in the season.

Regardless of our current form, opportunity to use the crowd in our favour.

    And no McGinn.

Formations are easily flexed 442 goes to 451 or 443 or 4231 without ball. Van veen has been far too isolated recently in way team has been set up. Lots of teams are playing 442 again like Fulham last night , aston villa , few in world cup etc. Its all down to what players do with and without ball more than formations imo

I'm with you on same ploy as earlier in season where it was certainly our best performance of season for what I can remember.  Can our players do that again now their confidence is as low ?

Don't understand your no mcginn. We have no one else to play there I don't think. If its him or furlong or odonnell then I want him.

Sorry but KVV doesn't need bench time, he needs support, the manager hinted at2 up front, then Mandron got injured. So on Wednesday played him up front with no support, plus Kelly firing missiles to 3 Giant centre backs. When Obeka came on was the same, no support, just high balls launched. Give the man support and he will either score or set up one. But ir must be soul destroying getting no support.

Way I see it as well. He's a huffy arse but if we are to survive we need him.

Anyone wanting him benched is deluded.  It might work at big teams but at our level he will just f off .

Needs an arm around him as old saying goes

Kelly, Johnson, McGinn, Lamie, Furlong, Cornelius, Slattery, McKinstry, Crankshaw, Van Veen, Obika. It’s attacking but I don’t want to see Goss, and the other midfield options are all attacking also. Would have considered McGinn into holding role in midfield but with 4 defenders injured and O’Donnell I don’t think that’s an option.

I’d only give KVV 45 mins with someone up close to him to see if his attitude/work rate improves and if not get him off for Aitchison/Tierney/Danzaki.

That's team I'd pick also couttsy.

Van veen needs help up front .crankshaw looked our best player last couple. Mckinstry I felt was coming on to game before being dropped on Wednesday.  Cornelius and slattery are better than goss and defense picks itself.

Lots of options upfront to change (not saying they are any good though) .

Huge game and I'm happy with a draw the now with performance better than Wednesday to give some confidence for next week scottish cup.

  13. 2 bad goals to give away which affects game.

1st I would say aitchison who was our lw should have been following wright as he was their rwb in 352. Goss was in middle of park as centre mid so in position.

2nd  I felt cornelius was wrong side of hallberg meaning mcginn had to try and intercept which he didn't at this point cornelius should have covered mcginn position which he didn't resulting in halberd 1 v 1 with kelly.

The team on pitch at end will if played definitely get relegated.

We need to hope van veen comes out his huff . Obika can produce and maybe mandron back in few weeks cos all others just do not look capable of scoring at all.

Aitchison and danzaki we need to hope are just 1st night nerves but I'm not sure.

Our midfield sitters if you like of any 2 from cornelius slattery and goss will struggle against most in league.

Our defense is just damn right poor.

    Scunnered!

    Folks wanted some deadwood out.

Some of the boo boys biggest targets are gone.

    They wanted fresh blood in.

We have signed a CB, LB, attacking MF, Winger and 3 strikers (albeit one is now injured).

We still need that defensive MF and another CH, but Flow has stated there will be more announcements today.

Given the absolute negativity on here for weeks about how we are doomed under Hammell, how about we give the guy a chance and get behind the team until the end of the season?

The areas of weakness in the team have been identified. Hammel, Burrows and the board have done something about it.

As supporters, we also have a role to play. That first win could be huge. Lets try and help it over the line tonight.

Great Post Joe . Hope the new signings give boost to players and fans alike.

Down to the players to give the fans a reason to get excited at the moment they are the ones playing like primary school girls . The fans are travelling in numbers but getting nothing back the from the team

Again maybe some truth in that but if you act like said primary school girl and blame it on a footballer then I'm sure your life will be ....... certainly different from mine and majority of people

As someone else wrote on this forum, we need hard bastards, and Hammel/Kerr and those players are not that

Bit of truth in what you say I agree.

The players on other hand need the fans to be same and not for some to act like whining little primary school girls .

  17. Whether he's good or not remains to be seen but the signing is certainly a bit more exciting than others .

Might also put to bed that hammel has "no contacts" in the game to get decent players that some have suggested on here.

He had 20 years as a professional and I'm sure he knows loads who are now still in the game.

I read postecoglu helped with this and I'd imagine maybe macdonald and mcgarry in Australia gave some insight also.

If that's a league that we might focus on now then we he has some good contacts.

  18. Yesterday was how I expected game to go and if was last year we would all be singing their praises. A few moaning again about same players and some of those players had big involvements in goals and cleared their main chance from corner over bar and also matched up to arbroath tackles yes there was no outstanding performances (blaney and johnstone gave ball away also and out of position) but considering our low confidence and importance of game we were well worthy of our win.

We never looked in trouble although our midfield were caught on ball and put a few passes astray I would imagine the pitch played a big part on this. A  few other chances for mandron, mckinstry, van veen, spittal possible penalty from their goalkeeper that collum played advantage (why) and you can see we were deserved winners.

A concern was I noticed at end van veen was 1st down tunnel and I dont know if he clapped fans or not. He has also changed his profile picture on twitter from what used to be him in Well strip to just him. Might be nothing in it but Hammells interview after game seemed to suggest he was dropped/rested and not injured. I hope he is not away in huff as we all know his quality and when he came on he created and looked dangerous.

Him mckinstry and mandron could provide a good threat upfront.

Looking forward to draw and drumchapel or Elgin at home for me hopefully or failling that any other lower league team.

    He’s not a left back.

Yes hes always played cb to my knowledge but hes left sided and a 6,3 left back would be good. Players get pigeonholed for a position far too easily imo.

They are professional players so obviously have a high level of ability and that sometimes just needs some wee tweaks to perform in a role more suited to help them progress in their careers as well as their respective teams.

    Loads of examples over years.

If not then SOD simply has to come in. A recent 25 cap scotland international should have a major role within our team but for whatever reason he does not. I hope that gets sorted out as a matter of priority.

I don’t think Dean has showed any level of ability similar to Allan Campbell. As soon as Allan Campbell came into the team he had something special about him and 100x the player as well I don’t recall him having lengthy dips in form.

That's my view as well. To compare Campbell with Cornelius is not right.

Some say Cornelius hasn't had chance but the question I ask is why hasn't he had chance?

I sometimes pop up to watch training at Dalzell if I'm up that way and anytime I see a game at training slattery and goss really stand out. I know training is different but I'm certain hammell is well aware of Cornelius attributes and I'd imagine maybe even has a soft spot for him due to coming through academy but just doesn't see him as 1st team regular.

Time will tell if he can kick on but he's 22 soon so next couple of years are huge for him.

He loves club and for that reason alone he deserves more patience than others

    Now that would be fantastic.

Utd wont be anywhere near the dogfightl. Its a 3way with us Kilmarnock and Ross County.

Most would think that due to the players in squad.

However likes of them hibs.hearts have been relegated in recent past with same types of players.

Those 3 have bigger fanbases and expect them to be up top and when not happening the grief they give players is even more than ours get at fir park.

Hibs next week we will hopefully see their fans being toxic as fck towards their players and them being in the relegation fight as well

  23. Didn't think yesterday was as bad as the consensus on here suggests.

Lamie and Sol I felt were in control.

Goss and Slattery were doing OK and van veen if less greedy and bit luckier could have won it for us.

Now some of the above might be down to Livi not having nouble. Holt or pitman available but even so we were the better team imo.

What will be consensus if we win next 2 games plus progress in scottish cup? All very achievable in my view.

It will not mean Hammell has fixed everything but it will certainly quell the negativity.

We need to support the team and our manager and remember all this talk of an experienced manager will grind it out etc and think of Tommy Wright who a lot on here were wanting previously.
