  1. Could be, although rumour is we have managed to convince the Football League that as 4 of our 20 'man' squad are only 16/17 they should not count as they qualify to play for our youth team. So if true there should be room to strengthen our squad before todays deadline, assuming there is cash to pay wages of our loanees. Apparently we are ok financially so cant see Raynes joining you unless you up the bid but Halls maybe, not ready for first team action yet so may as well let him train with you and reduce our wage bill
  2. The 17 year old centre half Josh Thompson looks like he will be a real class act. Only played 6 first team games for us and that again was due to panic sales and injuries. Seemed to ooze class though and looked a natural, no nerves and very reassured. Think Celtic have got a bargain if the rumoured fee of upto 400k (depending upon appearances etc) is true, never heard of the two kids that went with him, didnt even make it to our youth team before they were snapped up.
  3. Opinion on Raynes is divided, http://members3.boardhost.com/marionsboard/ a definite favourite of JGs and has been captain for over 12 months despite still being only 21. Cant fault him for his attitude, always gives 100% and gets stuck in where it counts, he has also been used as a defensive midfielder with mixed results. Great tackling and breaking up opponents attacks but distribution not his strongest point. Does have a tendency to make the odd glaring error and has a history of hamstring strains, went off early on Saturday with a 'tweak', but not thought to be too serious. http://www.stockportcounty.com/page/Profil...9~32520,00.html Halls is a right back who is another player coming through our youth system, made his debut at end of last season away at Leeds after our firesale and then subsquent injury crisis left us short on players. Suprised JG wants him on loan though as not ready for first team yet, only making to our bench at the moment because we have transfer embargo limiting us to 20 players because we are still in administration. http://www.stockportcounty.com/page/Profil...9~46851,00.html Could do us a favour if true about Halls as i presume we could sign someone else to bring us upto our quota of 20 players?
  4. to try and get our captain on the cheap! Could spoil his god-like status down here. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa..._well_squad.php
  5. Brief outline of his time as a player at E.P, then of course came back as Jimbos assistant. Have met him a few times and he is a top bloke, always makes time for a chat and is very friendly. Very popular with the players on the training ground. http://www.stockportcounty.com/page/PastPl...~839474,00.html

    Just Leaving

We certainly enjoyed our first trip to Fir Park. Sat in the main stand as my wife seems to find listening to JG ranting more enjoyable than the football, personally i think she fancies Wardy! The ground is very similar to EP with the bonus of both ends being covered and the facilities in the main stand, anyway, were fine. Highlight of the wifes day was finding loos with toilet paper AND hot water. Motherwells style of play was very reminiscent of Countys back in the good old days of six months ago before our financial meltdown and fire sale of most decent players. Expect more and more passing, forwards, backwards, sideways aslong as you keep possession. Apparently the county players nickname for him was Ancelotti as he wanted them to model their style of play on Milan. To be honest i wasnt familiar with any of your players but on the one viewing O'Brien on the wing looked the part and Pope i remember from when he took us apart playing for Northampton last season, guess he went in JGs notebook that day. Oh and Ruddy of course who we had on loan for most of our promotion season, absolute quality keeper based on his time at EP, dont know why he doesnt get a look in at Everton. Though apparently loans at other clubs like Crewe and Wrexscum didnt work out as well. Decided against wearing my county shirt as when we parked up the two adjoining cars were full of Kilmarnock fans whose shirts were very similar to the top i had on and didnt want to cause any confusion as too when my support lay for the day! So great day all in all, made even better when put on the car radio to find we had won at Brighton, particularly as they have FIVE of our ex-players, hope to do it again maybe later in the season but usually go home and away with County each week so will have to check fixtures. Cant throw any light on who the two players JG has lined up but if one is a right back then it may be Johnny Mullins at county, he fits the decription of the player he wants and he always spoke very highly of him and thought he had a great future in the game, he also was rumoured, when still at County, to have had a couple of players lined up for season long loans from clubs in the North East (of England) maybe where the forwards from? Best of luck for the rest of the season and enjoy JG while you have him.

    Just Leaving

Hi Stockport fan here, on way up to Motherwell today to see Sir Jims first home game at Fir Park (if the wife ever gets ready). Stockport are away at Brighton today which is even further than your place! Never been to game in Scotland before except at Queen of the South, dont know if that counts as its almost in England. Hope JG does a great job for you, true legend as player and manager when at Stockport. Probably will try to get seats in Main Stand, may wear County colours so say hello if sat nearby.
  8. Apologies if this is old news up there but your manager (and ex-County legend) has his own web-site now. Hope any thoughts he shares with you are as interesting as his old programme notes. All the best. http://www.jimgannon.co.uk/
  9. Distant memory fortunately, as is the joker who came up with it. Another County fan here, gutted Jimbo has gone but wishing him and Motherwell all the best for the forcoming season. You have a top fellow, just give him time to sort the team/tactics out to his liking and you will an entertaining and exciting team to follow. Am coming up to your game on the 22nd August ( we are away at Brighton, even further than Motherwell) so hopefully may catch up with a few of you.
