Some people on here really have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to Accies. We're an average Scottish Premiership side that lose as much as we win yet people are convinced we have a divine right to beat Hamilton every time we play them.
I honestly couldn't care less about our crowds. We've got a core support of about 3,000 who can be relied upon, which I imagine includes virtually everyone on this website. Not really bothered if other people want to pick and choose their games.
The Old Firm semi thing is a myth. This year's league cup was the first time in (I think) 6 years they've been kept apart. They've been drawn together four times across the same period.
Really don't get the Murphy stuff. He left us so long ago that he doesn't even register as a former Motherwell player to me, just a Rangers fan kissing the Rangers badge after scoring against Hearts.
I'll probably still boo him at Fir Park. Just because I like booing.
Playing devil's advocate but it seems unfair to ignore the Aberdeen and Rangers league cup games if you're not counting the Hearts and Killie wins either.
Anyway, I agree we aren't up to Top Six yet. There's four teams in this league that are clearly better than us and another two that have been marginally more consistent.
I was talking about the Scottish Cup campaign we're currently involved in. Obviously taking it to extremes but I'm much more invested in a cup run than trying to finish top six/seven.
Ah that's explains it. Fwiw I'm very envious of your stats spreadsheet. I've attempted to do the same thing several times and gave up by mid-August every time.
Who do we want in the semi then? Beating Rangers at Hampden was very very enjoyable last time and something I'd like to do again, though another pop at Celtic is pretty tempting. I've gotten so used to beating Aberdeen already this season it doesn't even feel like a big deal anymore so I'd rather avoid them.
Fwiw I think Killie will have slightly too much for us. Close game but our makeshift defence and their quality in midfield will give them an edge. 1-2.
For right or wrong I doubt we'll see McHugh dropping back. Afaik Robinson hasn't done it at all this season and only did so last year out of necessity.
