The difference Ainsworth made again was noticeable. A winger that can get to the byline and put a decent cross in and Sutton's made a career out of this level scoring that type of goal. Sutton may have many flaws but if you stick decent balls into the box he'll get on the end of things and puts the ball in net. We then had a wee spell where we looked half decent. A lovely goal by Ojamaa who again was the focal point of most of our attacks and Ainsworth had a chance to wrap up the points after a quick break but dragged his shot wide. Ainsworth then proceeded to get worse and worse and after a promising first 20 mins was fucking awful for the remainder of the game picking the wrong option again and again. The team then resorted to camping on the edge of their own box again and County's equalizer was as inevitable as it was deserved. We rode our luck several times and our luck ran out at the end.

Frustrating, again when Ainsworth came on and we equalized we had a wee spell on top where him and Ojamaa were combining well and we looked half decent. Sadly we soon reverted to type. We have shown in very brief flashes under Black that there's a half decent decent team in there somewhere. 2nd half against United in the league, 1st half in the cup game and wee spell round about our goals today. Not as good as we have been in recent season but good enough to avoid the drop. Hopefully the new manager with new ideas can install some organization and some belief into the team.

Not good enough today overall though, can't imagine too many players impressed the new manager today. O'Brien, Ojamaa and Law were about the only three I'd give pass marks to. Big improvement needed for Paisley next week, hopefully Baraclough can shake things up and get the players fired up for that one.

Have to agree with all your points but also add anyone that defends Vigurs display in the 1st half is deluded. Worst performance of a Motherwell player I csn ever recall for lack of talent and idleness.

  2. I thought Law especially in the first half when our midfield were all over the place he got his foot on the ball kept possession and passed to a teammate. Simple but few others in claret and amber achieved it.

  3. Irony being that we probably won't have a manager this side of Christmas now. I appreciate that the ownership issue has delayed things but an equally large threat to our future is relegation, and this continued uncertainty isn't helping the fans or the players.

We now go into a massive game with a manager that knows he won't get the job and players also knowing this. Not an ideal situation.

I'm all for taking our time and getting the right man but as fans we're entitled to ask how long does that take?

I'm sure whoever our future manager is, even if it's not been announced by tomorrow will be in the ground watching the game. Therefore a player who wants to stay and remain in the first team squad will try and impress and should be complete motivated.

  4. It's worth a bet I'm pretty confident we will finish the season higher than Accies. The next 3 games should tell us a lot but 3 wins and we will be looking a good bet for that. There is only 17 points between us if we find form and their free fall continues that gap can shrink in no time.

  5. I don't imagine the team will stray much from the previous 4 games apart from changes due to injury and suspensions. As whoever the new manager is wont have had the chance to fully asses the squad and will therefore follow Blacks advice and recommendations. Sutton will start with Lasley and Vigurs in midfield. Although I do expect Ainsworth to start on Saturday. However I would love to see us play with Ainsworth and Ojamma through the middle and Vigurs sitting behind them in the hole between midfield and attack. Lasley Carswell and Lawson across midfield. Ferguson at Right Back, McManus and O'Brien in central defence and Hammel(if fit ) at left back. However I have as yet been interviewed for the job. So expect Sutton

  6. I can understand the opinions that Vigurs is our most creative player but the system we play I don't feel we can afford to include him especially in central midfield, play him in a more advanced role linking midfield and a forward would probably suit him and offer the luxury of his creativity without his poor work rate causing any problems.

  7. The problem with Lasley, for me, is that all of his current charging about the pitch leaves a huge gap which is continually exploited. It's not good, it's ill disciplined.

I feel the problem is the balance of midfield, Lasley needs support beside him that Vigurs can't offer. Carswell or Lawson would provide better balance. Leave Vigurs on the bench he could be a good impact player.

  8. Say what you want about Josh Law but I thought he helped us out defensively a lot today. You perhaps wouldn't have got that from Ainsworth.

Have to agree Law without being outstanding did a decent job for us today. There are players contributing a lot less than Law.

Lasley and Vigurs in the central midfield are both static and the teams screaming out for a mobile box to box midfielder Carswell could fit that role but needs to be given the chance. Missing Hamell at left back and still not found a partner for McManus at centre back. Ferguson after his performance for an hour today should get another chance he looked far more comfortable than Kerr I would have played Ainsworth up front with Ojamma against a big defence the mobility may have caused more problems than Sutton.

  9. We absolutely need the new manager in place before the massive 6 pointers v Ross County, St Mirren and Partick Thistle.

I'm hesitant to use the word "shambles", but it's veering towards that.

I feel maybe that is what the board are looking at. They possibly looked at the forthcoming ties and decided that we are going to get beat by Inverness, Dundee United and Celtic so no need to rush appointment allows us getting the right man in place for the 3 biggest games we have faced in seasons.

  10. If it's not bad enough getting hammered in Inverness, two players that should have been playing in claret and amber this season were creating the headlines with their performance elsewhere in the SPL. Stuart McCall did a great deal for our club but I fear he will be remembered for letting Faddy leave (and failing last season to get the best out of his undeniable talents) and also not seeing what Clarkson could bring to the team( GOALS).
