Our bus would’ve been singing all the way back to EK would you agree Happy Dosser ?

Absolument, me old haricot,  but I worry what happens when The Dandy Dons/Jam Tarts sack their manager.

SK's record with a severely limited squad is quite remarkable but it will attract the circling buzzards, ya bass!

  2. Looking at the club's official retrospective vid of Saturday, I was reminded of Brodie  Spencer's considerable   contribution on his debut: even played out of position, he was involved in both goals and had a cracking sliding tackle in the first half.

Also, truly mad Dan is defo Da Man!

  3. Watching the highlights again, I was reminded of  how much effort Slattery put in (although his Watt-like dying swan stuff was a bit annoying at times, even for me) and what a great ball Spittal cut back for Paton's  sublime finish.

    Onwards to Tynie......

I’ve been pleasantly surprised how well Kettlewell has done .

He took over a complete shambles of a team both how they played and the obvious lack of team spirit and confidence .

Nobody could have envisaged how he actually turned it round .

Other thing I like about him is his ability to realise and accept when he gets it wrong /sees its not working and changes it and finds another way . The way he’s managed to get rid of some of the players by being honest with them about there playing chances has been impressive . It’s been a total cull and he’s done it in a professional way (Efford maybe not so much )

I think we might have a decent manager on our hands and if given time and PATIENCE from fans and board then given a reasonable amount of time he will defo improve us .
Probably  needs another couple of windows but I think he has a clear plan of how he wants things to pan out .

Hopefully he’ll get the time to do it as he started with a low bar and I feel he deserves a chance to build his own team and put his stamp on it .

To summarise although he’s not in the door that long I think he GETS the club and has bought into the job quicker than I thought he would .

For me a good fit for our club , a decent bloke by all accounts , firm but fair and most importantly the players seem to have bought into him unlike the previous two incumbants

Ridiculously positive assessment: have a word with yourself: 🤣🤣🤣.

Who is he going to link up with?

If Fletcher signs he'll be our top scoring striker but it might still be single digits.

With midfielders (like Paton today) supporting from midfield and arriving late  and (who knows?) Bair might even  benefit from SF's presence. The latter's  not the ideal striker by any means but at this stage in the window and given the unexpected  injury to Biereth and Wilkinson, etc. he offers some composure and a range of passing which seem missing in Bair, Efford and Wilkinson at the moment.

None of this is ideal but we're rapidly  running out of options. If you can suggest an out-and-out striker who's available within our wage bracket then I'm sure SK would like to know about him.

Heard today that Fletcher has signed, any truth, as for hold up and link up play Bair wouldn’t be at the races.

Weren't there supposed to be  rumours on P&B to that effect? He's not an out-and-out  goal scorer but I agree his hold up and  link up play could be useful. Nothing stuck to Bair or Efford today.

Looks like we'll need more goals from midfield or Dead-Eye Casey 🤣.

  7. Credit to the manager for the half-time change. I couldn't see us scoring at all at HT but subbing Efford and bringing on Paton to push forward was a great switch.

Karma for  McInnes perhaps for all his disruptive substitutions? As soon as Killie kicked off after our second goal, the ref blew for full time. Cue Killie players hitting the turf.

  8. Paton transformed the game with his running, passing and awareness, topping it with a composed goal (unlike Vassell when clean through on the left a few minutes earlier). Honourable mentions to Slatts (despite penalty miss) and Dan Da Man. Hope he's not injured now!

Not sure.  I think Luton will have record lowest points tally this season.  We don't need a midfielder as much as a striker but I would love wee Al back on loan

Lower than Derby's 11 points in 2007-8? That would be some "achievement" but we'll have to wait and see.

  10. What a difference a week makes! Really energised and optimistic by Biereth's performance against Hibs but pretty devastated by his injury now.

Dunne's tackle was  out of control imo  and should have been a red  but it wouldn't have minimised Mika's injury, which we are somehow going to have to adapt to.

I suppose this is where a manager earns his corn.

I think the doom mongers from earlier in this thread need to come to terms with the fact that if Kettlewell sees something in a player, thats better than some fans not being excited by a player. Bair and Wilkinson won't score at this level. Well, they've both scored in 50% of league games they've played in.

There's not many Motherwell managers can say theyve lost 2 in their first 20. Let the guy do his fucking job and stop greetin' about everything.

On reflection re your second paragraph, when was the last  'Well manager who lost  only 2 out of his last 20?

Might have to go back to the league-challenging  'Well teams of the 30s for similar or perhaps a stat. from the Ancell Babes era.

I don't think it's any coincidence that since SK took charge a lot of our opponents have looked poor. We've found a shape that restricts most teams we've encountered.

Which is why criticism of Kettlewell at this stage (from some on here), given his stats, seems quite perverse. He has actually quite a threadbare squad in some areas yet hasn't lost an away game and has only lost to The Hens and (unaccountably) Dundee Utd. at Firpers.

Interesting match coming up in Paisley.
