You mention the words mercenaries, and kids giving their all and I just dont see what you see. The players you mention appear to me to be giving their all, Bowman puts in a tremendous amount of effort as one example he just does not have that level of technical ability. I can forgive that if you give your all for the team and I think on the whole they do that. I dont recognise the word mercenaries in any of them.

As is Heneghan, young with potential which is why a club was willing to pay nearly half a million for him. Some people want to see young players in the team then expect them to be the finished article. Were talking about young centre halves here that are probably 6/7 years away from their peak.

I thought he was out of contract in the summer, surely we could sign him for nothing? -
Must admit I was always quite surprised at the criticism of him, I thought he was a better footballer than given credit for and certainly better than Dunn. I would imagine in his prime he was extremely competent.

Im slightly excited

Ciftci does have ability thats for sure. Could go either way if true.

Im pretty much in the could not care less about anything Rangers or Celtic. Being brought up in rural Yorkshire football was just football, nothing else other than enjoying the 90 minutes of football then back to family, relationships, and work. I was so naive when I moved up here nearly 25 years ago, no idea about any of the utter bigoted rubbish tied to it all. My wifes family are all Celtic daft and tried to get me attending when I first moved up, I went and supported Clyde instead. I always wind my brother in law up by stating the two clubs should merge as one and the city would be better for it. I just let all their crap go over my head and concentrate on what I enjoy, Motherwell F.C.

His record speaks for itself, rare in the modern game to have players with that level of dedication to one club. Good luck for the future.

Im a very new supporter but I have to agree. To me the club has a business model that will see it far more likely to flourish in the future. Get the dept paid off and the club will be on a far more secure footing, that means tough times with very limited funds and as such tough for any manager. Supporters of clubs always seem to be delighted when they see marquee signings, even those that have a history of one administration after another, Bury would be one example of a smaller club constantly falling into that trap. Rangers a good example up here when even playing at league two level, a level they could have walked just about playing the youth team spent silly money on premiership players rather than developing young Scottish players.

Can only wish him luck. Risky given the contract length, injuries, and goal scoring record in my view and obviously not the replacement for Moult. Thats still to come.
-
Well said, we all make mistakes.
-
Hes a young player that will only get better with time. Thats why a club was willing to pay good money for him.
-
Its true its a bit of a fine line but I think his forceful nature brings more positives than negatives. Heneghan is a promising young player who I think will improve but the difference Hartley made with his organisation and presence was obvious right from the start. I think if you take certain qualities away from certain players you lose a lot and to me Hartley is one of those players.
-
Hes our best defender by a country mile. He cocked up last game but signing him on a permanent contract would be very good business.

Ok cheers

I think a couple of posters have mentioned we have the second lowest budget in the league. Guesswork or fact ?
-
Imrie is very good at what he does, you either dont get suckered in by it and he fails. Or you react ( which of course is exactly what he wants) and you get what happened yesterday. He will have gone back to that dressing room laughing his head off and on top of that hes got Hartley suspended for the cup game. Hes done his job, Hartley did not do his given hes a seasoned professional.
-
It was mentioned yesterday that Bigi would have plenty of interested parties down south so maybe we could offload him ?
-
I cant disagree with the post and did mention a while ago how short sighted it would be. But sadly the nature of sport in general is you are judged on results at the end of the day. He himself hinted in the post match interview last game that the run of results was relegation material and it had to stop soon. If we dont start winning there comes a point hes going to get sacked.
-
Sadly its becoming more and more obvious that most of his summer signings are actually pretty poor. For me Carson, Hartley, Kipri and maybe Tanner, the rest are not up to it. Should he stay ? If its a four year contract thats a hell of an expensive pay off coming so I would personally give him the window and January.

Cant remember a managers fortune changing so quickly at any time in the past. Looking back at the thread on Robinson and a post from just over a month ago and someone posted that if Northern Ireland wanted him they would have to come up with the goods.

This is the biggest issue when you go on a run like this. You put put all the effort in the world in but when the confidence has gone its an uphill struggle.
-
1-1 for me, I dont see confidence been high and Accies are always capable of upsetting the apple cart. Its wont be pretty. Sadly ive been stuck indoors all Christmas with a respitory virus so will miss this one, gutted.

Straker came on loan from York, a truly dreadful player. The other two who left York were Craig Clay and Bowman who then went on to Torquay then on to Gateshead.
