  1. And the team that played in it. It was not our national managers finest hour
  2. Indeed he was.....what are people’s aversion to players from the north east?
  3. Surprised by that. I thought Kennedy was supposed to be quite fragile? Was it a permanent hip injury? Shrewsbury were a huge team last season. Everyone of them like a brick out house and played in a similar style to us. Jules was nowhere near that first team !!!
  4. I know it’s not a popular view but I just don’t get the whole push for the constant hoop and white shorts thing. White shorts with claret and Amber were of their time and that time was a very long time ago. Indeed, such a long time ago that it was the middle of the last century. A lot has changed since then. Also, and this more down to personal taste, I really don’t like a ‘well home shirt to have a white collar. The two xara efforts with white collars and white shorts are amongst the worst kits we’ve had. The are only trumped by that template puma mashup mess of 13/14.
  5. I can’t look at it. It keeps making my eyes go funny
  6. And the “stating fekkin obvious” award goes to.......
  7. The Bury fans will be rubbishing Aldred like they have every single one of their summer signings who arrived with great expectation. They went from being tipped for promotion/play off to bottom of the league cannon fodder in the space of one season. They have every right to be pissed. That said, whilst I agree that Aldred has been a great fit for us, there are many others like him playing in England’s lower leagues who do a similar job. He will not be short on offers and I suspect Robinson will have a list of names as defensive cover should we lose Kipre or want back up. I would be really sad to see Bigi go and would love to see a little flair added to the team that would help players like him and Tanner shine. It’s horrible to say it but captain McHugh can go if there are suiters, we already have team grafters like Rose and Grimshaw confirmed and his wage could go to better use. Using McHugh as a benchmark though, he is a terrific indicator of how we have progressed. A year ago, he was a first pick. I don’t think his form has particularly fallen, he’s just surrounded by better players who deliver better stats.
  8. I’ve been to jereusalem through work and have been purposely shown both sides of the coin. I assure you, none of the people I met would give a fuck about Celtic or Motherwell football club or a Scottish national sporting trophy. I have also as part of my work coordinated campaigns which have included protests, marches, demonstrations and lobbying. In order to gain credibility for any campaign, there are optimum times, places, methods and people to deliver key messages. That today was not one of them. That was nothing more than a bunch of bigots showing themselves up.
  9. Travelled a long way and at great expense with the family to watch the team be a little overawed with the occasion and be surrounded by total feckin day tripping roasters. The fact we have been to two cup finals this season is an indicator for true progress. Yes, we were in the main pretty poor but even then there were chances created and some good football played. Headlines of the day; Taking my boy to the Cooper to see the banter thieves .... great atmosphere. Carson is quality and the back 3 did well. McHugh was awful and (Celtic taking foot off gas or not) Bigi opened the game out and was excellent. The front two were given little service but worked hard. The whole Palestine protest is just a reminder of why I no longer live in Scotland.
  10. I just love the thick band (that could so easily be a hoop) and simple round neck. Old school but still cracking!!!
  11. LOL Aye, maybe quite a bit. I still found the stats and the not very likely proposed targets comparisons quite interesting though. As an aside, is McHugh out of contract this summer or has he re-signed and I’ve forgotten?
  12. Hey UBH, can you do a mock-up on the current Middlesbrough kit? It would be spanking in C&A.
  13. http://www.thefootballlife.co.uk/post/173922231191/motherwell-summer-scouting-report-2018 A bit off the mark but interesting reading none the less
  14. Can’t comment about the buzz in the home land but my house is proper buzzing. The whole family is coming up for the game. This will be the Mrs first Well game and the kids first trip to Scotland and the weans are absolutely bouncing with excitement. My boy who’s only 6 knows every one of the squads names to faces and is having dreams about what Hamden is going to be like. I think the Mrs is secretly more excited about having fritters (just don’t get them down south) and a trip to Cafe Shebab (does anyone recommend a better Indian buffet?) but putting that to one side, she’s even volunteering to wear a motherwell strip. For this to happen, it must truly be a monumental occasion. on the topic of tickets, I was a telephone purchase and I had to wait. Having suffered by this with proper shite seats in 2011, I can’t fault the staff. A Well daft member of my group is travelling up with a double ankle fracture and is gonna be pretty immobile on the day. The team did a good job (even as a delayed order process) of giving us tickets that will be easier for him. All the people I speak to have written us off and think I’m daft for being so optimistic but I cannot bloody wait for the game and I honestly think we are gonna piss on their chips. COYW !!!!
  15. Do we know for a fact that McAllister showed no interest in the motherwell job? I was of the belief that he was in the running when “forever claret and amber” Stuart McCall got the gig? I can’t say that I can get excited about him going to Rangers. There are two sides to this coin, We’ve won a cup, qualified to Europe and played in the champions league under the leadership of ‘life long’ Rangers fan management. We’ve had many ‘life long’ Rangers fans in C&A. We named a stand after one FFS!!!! So, perhaps it’s a little hypocritical to chastise one of our own for doing the same thing. His appointment is a sensible one for Gerrard. They are old mates, he knows the league, he knows the people and they’ll have each other’s back. Football is an industry. A profession. Im surprised at the shock and awe by some.
  16. I would love that away shirt !!!!
  17. Although not terribly well articulated, I have sympathy for the argument that as a good old fashioned winger, Elliott Frear doesn’t really fit with the managers current chosen shape/formation. However, he does have ability and is the type of player that would do better in a 442. I would also argue that 442 is not archaic as suggested. Certain versions of it are far less versatile than others but in recent weeks alone I have witnessed the good old 442 narrow diamond work a treat. The trick is having the players to match a formation and vice versa
  18. Two dives from Brown and Thomson didn’t need asking again to show just how fucking awful a referee he is. I haven’t disliked a team so much as the current crop of Celtic shitbags.

Yes and I’ve seen Andy Gardner, Mikko Kaven, Craig Samson and Gordon Marshall have a mare in a cup final. None of the associated attributes and failings of those players are an indicator of their skills as goalkeeper coaches. Of those names, 3 of them have worked consistently as professional coaches to professional players. Who’s to say Samson won’t go on to be an excellent coach.

So, based on that logic, Gazza should be the next England manager?
  21. Looks like the PNE fans are becoming a bit impatient and Louis seems be copping it a bit. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/03/06/do-criticised-by-preston-fans-louis-moult-shouldve-moved-to-rang/ Criticised by Preston fans, Louis Moult should have moved to Rangers instead Danny Owen @danny8195 14 hours ago 2 2 0 Fans of Scottish Premiership giants Rangerswere desperate to see Moult at Ibrox - but he signed for Championship outfit Preston North End. Is Louis Moult wrong for Preston or is Preston wrong for Louis Moult? Just two months after the striker arrived at Deepdale from Motherwell for a cut price fee of £500,000, as reported by the BBC, it is worrying that such questions are already being asked. Yes, Moult has a huge challenge on his hands replacing the goals and the presence provided Jordan Hugill, who moved to West Ham for £8 million on deadline day, and he has not been helped by the fact that Preston manager Alex Neil seems unwilling to adapt his style to suit his new centre-forward. But patience among some supporters is already wearing thin. Moult scored eight goals in 13 league starts for Motherwell in the first half of the season but has not hit the net yet in six appearances for Preston. He was an unused sub in the win away at Bolton on Saturday, a week after his ineffective display in the home defeat to Ipswich Town. So fans of Rangers, who were desperate to see Moult move to Ibrox in the New Year, would be forgiven for asking whether the former Stoke City youngster would have been better off at Ibrox instead. SEE ALSO: 'Totally disinterested'; Celtic fans want key player dropped for Rangers clash He is a proven goalscorer in Scottish football after all and manager Graeme Murty, since taking charge in October, has shown an ability to adapt to his player’s strengths in order to get the best out of them. If Moult is to succeed at Preston, however, he will be hoping Neil does the same.
  22. Aye, I always thought he was talking pish on that one lol Again, could be miles out but i seem to remember (maybe Aberdeen quarter final) the camera panning in Gary Mac’s brother sitting in the main stand and Gary talking about him being a diehard.
  23. He would, indeed a screwed heid Tony Watt would be playing at a much higher level than us.
  24. Within the article on the official site about Brian McLaughlin, there’s a picture of the all conquering Davie Hay first division team of 81-82. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2018/02/21/talisman-of-the-champions/ Theres some well kent faces in there but seeing Joe Wark and Brian McClair in there got me thinking. Like all others too young to have seen him play, I know Joe Wark is a motherwell legend but was he a ‘well fan? I was always told by my dad that Brian McClair was a ‘well fan ? Gary McAlister is a ‘well fan but who else has worn the glorious claret and amber and realised their boyhood dreams?
