and in that comment he may have been correct, but again the club were looking to develop him for another year or so. I would imagine he would have been offered a reasonable contract at the end of the year. However, and again I say not one person predicted he would have made such an impact. NO ONE....so its NOT poor judgement or negligent...ridiculous comment

I disagree but rants over. Interesting stats you gave though. Im only basing judgement on times ive seen him at Alloa and reserve/ well games. I do think also that he would have been given reasonable terms earlier but will never know when that was offered or how much. Sevco be a force next season with jordan jones and hastie.

Give it a rest...We know your the only one who noticed and all the professional coaches failed at 2 clubs to spot how good he is. He was decent at Alloa and was doing them a good turn but, no one not even you, had any clue that he would have made such an impact as he did. If they did do you think for a second the club would not have tied him down with a longer contract?? So it wasnt poor judgement at all it was a measured judgement on his performance up until that time.

Allo manager was on record as saying he will play for much bigger club than the well. Suppose rant over now that its happend and he now doesnt matter to me. Def negligent though by our club. Alloa doin ok without him though.

  3. Poor show from club letting him slip through into hands of sevco. Sure he will score a few at fir park playing forv themVery poor judgement in not sorting contract while at Alloa. Worst team he could have signed for. And hope they pay up as rumours suggesting the sevco could go under again.

You will have the lottery numbers for saturday then i suppose or just last weeks ones.

Im no mystic meg but first time seeing jake at alloa i seen he had pace. Strength and composure. Stand out! Wish i had lottery numbers!

So fully qualified coaches who see him every day training and playing couldn't predict the kind of impact he made, even the coaches at Alloa were surprised. However "anyone with knowledge could CLEARLY see he had huge quality". Aye right, Mystic Meg. Love these nuggets with clairvoyance who never predicted it on these forums but are happy to come on after the event and pretend it was obvious. There is not one person on this planet including the player himself would have predicted he could have made the impact he did after January.

Pace strength and composure where attributes shown at and prior to Alloa. Even a 1 year contract could have been offered at that point. Does'nt take a "nugget" to see that. Try to be respectful in posts. Manners cost nothing.

Great article by Alan Burrows in the times stating the clubs policy . Fully agree with him on the subjects he covered . It’s always going to be a gamble with young players and theres no way we could have foreseen  the speedy progress made by  Hastie . There’s not may CEO would be willing to come out in the press to justify there actions but Burrows does so in an articulate and    concise way . It’s up to Hastie what he does next . We’ve gave it our best offer . Hopefully the article will clear up a lot of discussion around our transfer policy for our supporters

Disagree. Anyone with knowledge of the game could clearly see Hastie had huge quality . And statement excuse doesnt account for this.

We've been mediocre and won nothing in pretty much every one of the 40-odd seasons I've witnessed. If that was all that mattered, I'd have given up long ago.

Very true. Ive been there 40 seasons too. Should know better. Just want more than that.

If he is on 14k a week then I am delighted. What that means is that if they can pay that to a player that is no more than a good prospect then it will not be long until they are bankrupt again and we will be rid once again of this despicable football club.

Agreed! Anyone but ugly sisters. Also if on higher wages then development fee must reflect this.

    What does "Acceptable" mean?

We made him an offer - and even sold Bigi to free up cash in the budget.

    He declined.

How do we make it "acceptable"? Offer him more money than a senior player? Match Sevco's offer?

We made Moult an offer too, but he still moved on. So that wasn't acceptable either.

Sometimes, it's just not possible, and there's not a club on the planet that has been able to hold on to every player they want to keep.

Least we got sell on clause with Moult that may still bring in money. Sevco will net large fee as sell on if he ends up in premiership. Talent was obvious prior to Alloa. I disagree he showed nothin before Alloa. Pace and power are 2 valuable assets in football. Combine this with his composure and skill and his value soars.

Make them acceptable offers with the promise of an increase if they make the step up?

Hastie had been at the club for 10 years, and had no experience above League One and Championship level.

Last month he was saying "It's like a dream come true,I came up through the academy from the age of nine and this has been my dream to break through. I just want to keep doing that.

"I don't want to go anywhere, I want to stay here, keep my feet on the ground and keep progressing."

We were clearly in a pretty strong negotiating position, absolutely mental that you seem to think Hastie wouldn't have signed on if we offered him anywhere near reasonable terms at the start of the season.

    Agree with this post totally.

As long as we are compensated handsomely I have no problem with Hastie taking  Sevco deal, according to reports he has been offered £14,000 /week which we certainly could not even come close to match and is a no brainer for Hastie, especially for playing reserve games!!!

Still compensation may well be a fraction of what sevco could earn on sell on clause if he continues to impress.  I do understand money difference. Club still left it far too late. Must now identify someone of equal ability to come in for that role in team. MCkinstray would have been ideal but hes off too.

Id be amazed if Kent doesnt stay, guy is a cracking player, prob too good for Rangers, but not good enough yet for Liverpool. With the Gerrard connection I cant see them loaning him anywhere else.

Hastie would be far better staying here then moving in a year or so, but then his agent makes less than with a free transfer this summer and another free when Rangers release him in a couple years

True Kent class act. Not good enough for Klop but easillly above spl standard. Also Gerrard connection. Pool also got promising young  quick wingers not getting game though will be spl standard.Given Jones has had more experience/ Also other experienced wingers. For development. It makes sense Jake stays and evolves to the star he can be.

I was told it’s not a rumour but fact by someone within the dressing room, so as far as I’m concerned it’s new information.

I really hope he’s going to change his mind though based on guys like Turnbull chatting to him before it’s done and dusted.

Hope so. If its guy from dressing room, its more valid. Yes hope Turnbull and his other pals/ team mates make a difference.

Feels like its going on longer than brexit.

I don’t necessarily agree with that stance, and as it happens I don’t see it being his last game either.

However, I was told he’s signing a pre contract this week and won’t play again.

I would love to be wrong, but the information came from someone at the club.

We heard this from the sun days ago. Its not really new ?  Even clubs sometimes get rumours. Turnbull in news today asking him to stay.
