Assuming Las had input into the first team I can't conceive that he's the right person to move us forward. I seem him as a mini Robinson rather than having his own clear vision.
He'll need to set us up very differently in formation/personnel to convince many that he's the way forward.
Given the current squad and time of year it would be prudent to bring in a safe pair of hands to see us through until the end of the season.
Similar to when we brought in Craig Brown - he knew what he was doing and got the most of the squad. To be clear I'm not stating Brown but someone in that mould .
I don't mean to be horrible as Lasley has been great for Well over the years. I can't help but think he's been part of the problem - unless he makes significant changes to personnel or formation I suspect we'd get more of the same.
we were the better side but we don't have any control or structure to the team. Forwards have to come far too deep , we create very little as we can't string any passes together and have very little movement
I think the Leeds 4 - 1 - 4 -1 formation would work for us
Carson
ODonnell Gallagher Ohara Carrol/Lamie
Maguire
Gimshaw Polworth Campbell Hastie
Watt
Could easily adapt to other formations and bring in Long/Cole/Lang
I'd like to see us give both Mcguire and Hastie a run of 6 games to see how they do - they need a chance to show if they have what it takes.
I don't even know Mcguires best position - should he partner Gallagher or is he better as a hold midfield player.
both were excellent for Scotland and the U21's which calls out how important formation and other players around them are. We don't have a settled defence , continue to play 5 at the back (3 of which not many fans rate)
We continue to get out battled in a 3 man midfield.
I believe their lack of form is down to a formation that's not working and also highlights you need more than 2 -3 decent players in your team.
I personally like that we parked the bus rather than try and go toe to toe. Being 1 up after 60 mins is more refreshing that being 3-0 by half time.
We couldn't maintain it for 90 mins, no big deal. Rangers are far superior.
I'd like SR to continue to evolve formations - he's clearly not a fan of 4-4-2 but with our current squad I suspect this would be a formation that works against most clubs and revert to 4-5-1 or 5-4-1 against the top 3-4 clubs.
this highlights how poor our signings are that O'Hara is the best partner for Gallagher .
The only issue this creates is who plays in midfield as there's very little in the way of options.
