I’m sure most fans would love to see more their own coming through and to be fair there’s a virtuous cycle re playing and promoting youngsters that will encourage better quality youngsters over time. There’s a balance to be found . I’m up for youngsters going on loan which several have done . There’s an argument they’ll get ready faster for first team by doing this . The reverse must also be true where we get bigger clubs youngsters . Not all youngsters will be good enough - not just for the first team but also the squad . If we’ve had a player who’s been with us for several years , been out on loan and still lacking I don’t really accept that because they’re young and Scottish that we should keep them in the squad . fwiw I personally think the club are doing a very decent job at getting the balance right .

tough game - there's a few areas we're struggling and it's taken it's toll Not having a full squad, several players not having a full pre-season, accumulation injuries and struggling to keep people fit. Thought the managers comments were pretty spot on.

We need more from Booth and Vogt -both in the game but nothing sticking with them

if they were all fully fit then yes, but quite a few have come back from injury and getting up to speed. Either way be great to get more points on the board.

Today is a good time to mix it up and give guys like Whyte, Knight-Lebel & Booth game time. Be interesting to see if some players get a rested for first half, Longelo, Fadinger, RCC for example together with JK could perhaps benefit from no more than 50-60 mins on the pitch. Given the injuries, short pre-season and glut of games the 'loading' must be a factor.

not a spectacular performance by anyone but equally lots of decent performances - went for Moormann - thought he was solid.

Much better 2nd half - worried about the amount of injuries . we need to get signings in asap - (sorry for being captain obvious ) id give white a game from the start - he has the strength we need in midfield

Olly white and Booth both look decent . impressed with whites physical attributes

Personal view is he’s been one of the better players . seem to remember someone say I like my keepers to come for everything 😉

CM may need 2 players to come in and help with cover. For forwards be great for JT to stay and hit some form. Appears that interest has reduced but if he starts banging in goals in Europe and the league that could quickly change. We could potentially replace all the front line, not convinced any of them will cut it or be fit. In addition to someone who can bang in goals we need someone who can help hold the ball.

Add to that there’s a few guys match fit. No JK and guys like JT and Longelo trying to get up to speed . Watt, just and Slattery all have options previously and will more creative players to come in and give options - hopefully Lowry is one of them

We looked excellent in the first half and like others have mentioned RCC should have scored , at 2 - 0 game would have been over. Hibs for 15 mins in that second half were in control and we looked to have lost the plot. Missing some steel in the Steelmen so to speak. The winner was brilliant - a classic counter with 1 touch football. We look and are far from the finished article, a few players getting up to speed, a few to recover from injury and a few more unknown to arrive. BUT all things considered plenty of reasons to be optimistic. 3 points in the bag for the first time in XX years after game 1.

Both Motherwell and Hibs likely to be the 2 of the sharpest teams for game. Our left hand side with Willilams , Longelo and RCC will cause all teams problems . With Spaorrow, Maswanhise on the right and Said or Lowry through the middle I think we’ve got a fair amount of fire power to cause them problems . suspect both teams will score today and believe we can outscore them .

Not every player will turn out to be AP . he’d scored 17 goals in a one off season and not a regular scorer before hand the player mentioned has scored over 50 in 2 seasons - not the same prospect . we’ve made quite a few decent signings from that part of the world.

From the way the manager is talking there will be several players to come. Suspect that's mainly Midfield and Attack given the amount of defenders we now have. I do think we already have a decent amount of attack minded players - Sparrow, Said, RCC, Lowry, JT are all good enough I'd like to see us go for someone like Luka Jovanović - 21 years old, mobile and scored +50 goals for Adelaide. Sounds like the right target market and would be interesting to see if he can make the step up.

The quality of signings are decent and as long as loanees are limited to a selected few then fine . I do wonder if our new manager has a bias for young players . Hopefully not to Gannon level . From his recent interview it’s clear that there’s still more to come between now and the end of the window . Expect more in midfield and attack . Also suspect more will leave . JT , AP maybe Thor. Also got a niggling feeling that Longelo may leave . Very interesting month to come for both ins and outs .

Thor could easily be added to this list - he’s been pretty much crocked since arrival . 3 guys who are regularly injured and even when fit doubtful that they’re any good . be interesting to see what happens with TW - perhaps he stays as thought he’d be gone by now.

After what felt a slow start the club are churning through the signings quite nicely now . working though keeper - defence - midfield . I was wondering if we’d be resigning Spittal now given all the signings hearts have made or perhaps a cheeky loan for Turnbull . Anyway , it’s coming together and beginning to feel get more optimistic about the season ahead .

Kirk is without doubt one of my favourite players ever - even outside the cup I loved his attitude . the cup was fantastic . I remember feeling confident in extra time because he hasn’t scored yet and he didn’t let us down . Despite all of that and him being a cult hero I don’t believe he’s the best ever signing . I more think he was the worse ever sell - I was livid that we traded him and McGill and for eddy May and money - wtf
