Ojamaa was 20 when he signed with us. Bair is going to be 24 in a month.
He is well beyond the development part of his career. At this point he is who he is. And it isn't good enough to be playing for anyone in the Premiership. Signing him is throwing money down the drain. Filling out the squad with guys who aren't up to the standard has been a problem at Fir Park for years.
Just how many time have we heard were signing players to improve the team not just to fill a jersey

Absolutely agree, after all we’re Motherwell not Barcelona.
We’re a wee club punching way above our weight.
I’ve been proudly riding the rollercoaster that is Motherwell FC for years and am aware that we were in the first division in the early eighties.
There’s still plenty of time for us to bring in signings and welcome them to our great wee club as we continue to exist to improve people’s lives.

The Canadian was with St J and scored 1 in 33 games surely not only 8 goals in 87 games

WE have been a club that promotes youth but over the past few years they have not been integrated into the first team at the right rate i agree that the only way to progress and see the if the player has got it is to play them and usually after a dozen games or so you can tell if they are going to make it. Or need to be moved on to a lower level.
Just look at the recent real successs they all looked well out their depth in the first few games but quickly developed into proper players. McFadyen, Turnbull, Campbell.
Lower level happy to let go Scott ( left too early but we got a decent transfer), Cornelius, Erwin.
Max Johnston was a strange one we were happy to loan out without really giving him a run in our firsts team have to feel had he been managed differently he would still have been our player or we would have a few million in the bank

99 Wilkinson my age when he scores his first goal, 77 Suare mins into the match when he either psses the half way line or make a tackle
Its looking bleak if this is the standard of our players.
Still Casey is back in his rightful position, Spittal is our best midfielder
Furlong and Johnston types required also really need a new Goalscorer please

I'd take both

Taxi for Lamie

Hopefully learn what we have in the backup department

Defence in a mess getting underneath the ball acording to the radio, Spittal again with instant response

I'm absolutely in favour of two teams being relegated from the Premiership every year, even though it puts ourselves in greater danger.
The currently league set up is a bit stodgy and airless. We pretty much see the same teams every year and we need a greater turnaround of teams going in and out of the league.
If you compare it to some of the lower leagues in Scotland, they are getting a 40% turnaround in teams competing in the division some seasons.
It keeps things fresh but the Premiership is rather dowdy and I doubt turkeys will vote for Christmas.

god I hope not. I thought it would be the other way round.
We only have 6 midfielders on our books and that includes Tierney who's more of a forward.
Maguire, Miller, Spittal, Slattery, Tierney & Paton.
Wide area could be wing back, obvously looking for a couple of forwards as well

I'll say this, for a club that has supposedly brought in "for the most part, at least five years of terrible close season signings" we've done not too badly during that period.
We've finished 7th, 5th, 8th, 3rd, and 8th again in that five year period. We've also reached Europe twice.
But I guess those seasons accomplishments are mainly down to other teams being terrible and us "getting away with it" and being lucky, right? Absolutely nothing to do with the players we've brought in.
The truth is, a club of our financial standing is very rarely going to be able to recruit players who can be considered a safe bet to succeed. We just aren't in that financial position. Most of our signings are going to be a risk.
But, we've managed to unearth some real finds during that period as well.

This is what we're competing against with players like Johnston
For all this talk about "protecting our investment" you know his agent was telling him "just wait and I'll guarantee you a big move"
Was his agent saying that last year when he was farmed out to Cove?

You could also look at it from the point of view that we're guaranteed 380k/400k as a development fee plus potential add ons if we do some kind of a deal with Sturm Graz.
Would we have got much more than that as a transfer fee if he had done a Turnbull and signed a new contract. I'm not so sure we would have.
How can we get an add on if he's not a signed Motherwell player when the transfer happens

So thats just us and St J that have not payed a transfer this window and St J have only signed two free's so far.
I guess were just broke and were working with our hands tied behind our backs hope the Kettle can produce another miracle
