What has this financial talk to do with former players?

Not a great passer? I respectfully disagree with you there.
Spittal 6 Goals 7 assists Goss 1 Goal 4 assists
Furlong and Johnston played half a season and got 3 assists each
Not saying he can't pass but its what you should expect from a Premiership player (i know that earleir no one could string two passes together but that must have been training/confidence under Hammell)
On these stats he is not making as many key passes as you may think

What did you make of Russell and Cooper?
Please are you really comparing Goss to either Russell or Cooper, don't believe he could lace their boots

Yep, agree. Don't know what went on before but his work rate was excellent after the Kettle was on the boil.
He never tracks back is not the great passer we all think who has the most assists well its the much malgned Spittal i believe

Which basically means he was one of our better players when we were hurtling towards potential relegation, but deemed not good enough when we were on the up and looking like a potential top six side.
What a strange way to look at it but no more than i expect from you

I have no doubt he'll be happy with his pay packet but who wants a career as a benchwarmer training with no real chance of ever playing.

I've updated the first post with the latest information.
So, by my reckoning we're still looking to negotiate with the following:
- Max Johnston
- Dan Casey
- Dean Cornelius
- Sean Goss
- Mikael Mandron
I think it's fair to say that both Johnston and Cornelius will be offski, so that leaves Goss, Mandron and Casey, correct?
With Johnston and Cornelius away i'd only be looking to keep Casey from that bunch

Another year for him to watch Darlow, Dubravka, Karius and Pope from the stands. Not bad, though, as he is a Newcastle fan.
Its a pity that a good keeper like that is sitting watching not playing, equally as good as Carson, Randolf etc its a waste of a career but money talks

We seem to have this love in for McKinstry and i suspect a lot of people think he is better than he actually is, if he never got any game time under SK last season I can't see him changing that this year so for me our limited funds could be better spent elsewhere.
Was arguably one of our better players under Hammell never got a chance with the kettle

i would take him there is a player there

Cornelius is not resigning and looking for new challanges

The 2nd coming of St Brendan is the current bookies favourite apparently.
Surely there fans will be up in arms after the way he left them

Championship Play-offs have been great for end of season excitment.

Messi is 3 or 4 inches taller than Tierney and probably a stone and a half of extra muscle.
Messi 1.7m or 5 5 foot 7 - Tierney 1.74m or 5 foot 9
Ok i know that your always right so the internet must be wrong again

There really aren't any successful players of Tierney's stature.

We can't have Carroll or McGinley fighting for anything, their bodies are made of wet cardboard.
First two out the door unfortunatly McGinlay has another year should never have been extended. Must try and get Furlong back

For me 2022 is probably the worst footballing year I have witnessed on the football side of things
It was dire from two different managers was a total horror show.
Looking back it was a good learning season and just goes to show how important is the managerial appointment is. I have always thought that a half decent manager can do well in this league even with a bang average squad.
So was it pure luck to bring Kettlewell into the club or an inspired look into the future who knows but i am delighted it has worked out so well for him, however as much as i have critisied the recruitment the January transfers certainly made the difference as well. Hope we don't start next season with the same shambles Alexander left us with.

Interesting how the results are weighted to players who performed under Hammel when the team was shit. I'd say Furlong was much better than Penny, but Penny only had to compare with Carroll and McGinlay who are rank and should ever have had extended contracts. I reckon Solholm got the votes because he was a megaphone fans fav, but again Butcher and Cassey are head and shoulders above.
I guess Van Veen's purple patch under the Kettle has stopped the other mentioned above getting the votes it would be interesting to see this split under Managers.
Thanks for setting this up

Now does that prove how lucky we were to get Butcher and Cassey when we did, Surely saved our season there
