  1. Well, thinking back to when we were in administration there were teams who were publicly offering support and wishing us well, whilst at the very same time seeking to capitalise on the situation with chance-your-arm offers for our players. I'm sure there will be "vultures" ready to swoop for Pars players too. Having said that I doubt we would be keen on paying even a reduced fee, even if we are interested in of their retained players though so I don't see us being actively involved on that front. A player whose contracted has been terminated though? That's a different matter and I suppose they would be fair game should McCall have any interest in any of them. That I suppose though brings you back to the contract situation with the existing out of contract players though. What's the budget for next season? Who's staying? Who's going? At what, if any, point do McCall and Dempster say "thanks for efforts, see you" if players are humming and hawing and begin to look elsewhere?

    Dundee Game

Where is all this Dundee boot boys stuff coming from? I wasn't up at Dens for the first game, but did see the game on Alba and I saw the draw at Fir Park but other than Colin Nish being Colin Nish nothing immediately jumps to mind about them being as dirty as is being commented by a few in the thread. Has my heid been in the clouds or are they just being found guilty by association of having a manager who as a player was a genuine dirty bastard in charge? Either way hope we win ofcourse!
  4. You just don't like it as it's a play on something Celtic fans did and we all know how hypersensitive you get when Motherwell fans mention the C word. If it was a play on a Falkirk, Inverness or Hibs effort you wouldn't give a monkeys.
  5. And what was it? Twenty-five? Thirty years later and you were playing in the Scottish Second Division! For me it serves to illustrate be it watching Motherwell on foreign shores, seeing European teams pitch up at Fir Park, winning trophies, getting to finals or even just battling away at the top end of the table. Savour it and never take it for granted!
  6. Could you argue that he would be the third to re-sign, given that Cummins and Francis-Angol have already put pen to paper this season? But yeah, I take your point. It would nice to keep the current feelgood factor rolling along nicely ahead of the two pre-split games with the announcement that a Randolph or Higdon had committed for another 12 months at least.
  7. Pennsylvania Dosser and Kmcalpin - got your contributions through in the last 24 hours. Thanks for your support Gents!
  8. Cheers Kirkysupersub! Got your contribution through fine.
  9. Weeyin and Special contributions received safe and sound. And that's us! Once I add in my own that will be our £150 target reached for this year's subs so my thanks to all who have helped us reached the necessary amount so quickly. If anyone else still wishes to contribute you are more than welcome to do so, anything received over and above will go into the account for next years subs or if its required for whatever beforehand. Thanks again for all your support folks!
  10. Thanks foghorn, received safe and sound!
  11. Cheers for your contribution Stevediggle. Received safe and sound!
  12. Delighted to say things are moving pretty quickly. Thanks to the contributions listed above and a very generous contribution from Mad Dog we're now just £50 short of this years fees as it stands. Cheers once again to all for your support.
  13. We've had some wonderful results and performances over the last few years but that felt pretty special last night. Arguably one of the finest forty-five minutes we've played in goodness knows how long. McFadden at his very best and toying with Hibs, Higdon getting his landmark goal, two outstanding goals, coming from behind, overcoming the supremely petty and inconsistent Collum and all this with a re-jigged team as the core of the midfield had gone off injured. It was sensational stuff. I didn't think we'd done a lot wrong in the first half with the exception of working their keeper more. There was maybe 10 - 15 tops when they scored against the run of play and should have scored with that corner but other than that felt we had dominated and played some good stuff. The second half was just a joy to beyold though. With Law having gone off to join Las in the stand and the re-worked team I felt as we kicked off that I'd glady take a point at that stage but it was great to see the way we began the half. Got stuck right in, pinned them back in and around their box and the goal was fully deserved when it came. Thereafter we just went from strength to strength and were absolutely flying. Thought McFadden's goal was brilliant. It was what we'd all been waiting for since his return (especially those who had money on him at 2/1 any time scorer ) but even that was eclipsed by Higginbotham's wonder strike. Some typically Randolpheque shot-stopping and Hateley's fourth was the proverbial icing on the cake. A great win on so many levels. For the performance and significance of the result obviously, but it ensures no hangover over the international break after a dodgy result and puts the pressure back on the chasing pack today as well. If there was a down side the fact it was live on TV across the UK with no other games for competition will have meant that many of our out of contract players will have been seen by managers and scouts and their displays surely won't have gone unnoticed. But happy to worry that another day and bask in the glories of last night for a bit longer yet.
  14. Thanks JWTL received safe and sound. Cheers to Kmcalpin also.

  17. The resumption of posting on this thread can only mean one thing. Yep, I'm back pestering you for your dosh again. Well sort of. If you are relatively new to the forum or weren't able/didn't fancy/whatever getting involved last year, a significant number of posters on the forum collectively contributed the £1000 required for the site to purchase a Claret Well Society Membership. The idea was that it might appeal to posters keen to get involved and support the Well Society but who weren't able to commit to the full membership and who could put in a tenner, £20 or whatever to the fund to help reach the target. Such was the generosity shown that many of the folk who contributed did so having forked out for their own membership and we actually took in more than the £1000 required, with £40 having sat snugly in an account ready to be put towards this years fees of £150. If you fancy getting involved this is an ideal opportunity to do so. You can do so by contributing to the address at the foot of this email and ofcourse you can ask any questions you wish about our Steelmen Online Well Society membership by posting on this thread. The email from MFC does also give some info. about future sign up nights that might be of use too.
  18. Hands up. Was viewing on the mobile and I've accidently deleted the post the club made in reply to Gaag's post..... The club's reply was originally posted in between the posts by Lobey Dosser and Graham H. Motherwell FC Official wrote..... Apologies to all for my baws up.
  19. That actually infuriates me as much as the reconstruction proposals. For me it's the ultimate sell out and worse still it appears that it's actually being pushed by the League rather than the Old Firm themselves. If either of the Old Firm go elsewhere they should go lock, stock and barrel. No having their cake and eating it by having a foot in both camps, so to speak, to capitalise on being in Scotland and elsewhere. I've generally found the SFL to have a bit more integrity than the SPL but this suggests they have been blinded by the extra revenue that has come from Rangers being in Division 3 this season and believe they should be due a piece of it all the time. I'm sure being stuck in boardrooms with the likes of Doncaster for so many months is entirely coincidental... So again we seem to be reliant on our smaller clubs, those hangers on and the tail that wags the dog to hopefully do the decent thing and kick another nonsensical idea from the League Chief executives into touch.
  20. I was pretty happy to get out of it with a point. If you've heard one of Craig Brown's post-match interviews after any of their 0-0's this season you've heard them all. It's exactly the same stuff....better team...created lots of chances.....couldn't finish.....will hammer some team soon...blah....blah...zzzzz In fairness to the old codger he was right yesterday. They did have most of the game, almost all the chances and poor finishing cost them. Pretty early on you got a sense that this would be one of those games where you just hope we could dig in, avoid defeat and get down the road. The game was shite. We seemed largely incapable of playing on the surface and were being outmuscled in the air. I thought we were a bit better in the second half and looked more likely to so something but still little dangerously a couple of times. Not a bad result. Could have been better and you might argue it was the type of game we should be winning, but given how the game went and that it keeps that run over Aberdeen going in the league a wee while longer I was happy with the draw. Just a pity the Highland teams managed to net towards the end of their games.
  21. Cheers for posting that little gem. Didn't know that. Never been able to set up the polls using the mobile version which has meant waiting until getting back to the laptop before setting up. Should take care of that now for occasions like today where it may be some time after full time before getting home etc.

  23. Nice to see Rangers continuing to conduct their business discreetly and respectfully out of the public eye as usual. I'll wait and smile, if he hasn't been sacked by then, the next time he's purple faced and squealing like a pig when one of their players, using them as a stepping stone to the English Premier League, is taken from them under similar circumstances. I'll wager the word "delicate" won't be in quotes that day. But then this has always been their and their chums across the city's way. I remember as far back as McFadden getting the similar treatment when McLeish was in charge at Ibrox. The usual I don't want to talk about opposition players under contract but...... safe in the knowledge their media lapdogs will have it in print, radio and on TV within the hour trying to turn the players head. I suppose the only consolation is that this time its not in the run up to a game against them which was one of the other well utilised tactics of choice.
  24. Possibly. I'm not seeing any photo.
