  1. '86 League Cup Semi Final against Celtic where we lost on penalties. That was something of an emotional rollercoaster which ended horribly. A different outcome to the penalty shoot-out and it would arguably have been more memorable than the '91 Semi given the respective standings of the teams then.
  2. Scanning through the list of candidates I can pick out grahamb (Graham Barnstaple) and SpecialAKA (David Morrison). There may be others possibly but without being able to put usernames to Sunday names it's difficult to say. But certainly those two posters are included within the twenty-two.
  3. I'm sure Wendy and her team in there will. But....surely Wendy and the rest of the admin. staff should be doing what they are supposed to be doing instead of having to spend however many hours with however many telephone, email and face to face enquiries to attempt to remedy a situation that could be resolved in a matter of seconds by putting a note on the official website saying something along the lines of Season ticket holders should use Special Match Voucher X for admission to the re-scheduled Dundee Utd game on 7th November. It's that simple!
  4. Excerpt from correspondence sent out on 11th September, section highlighted in particular ..... As for their credentials, presumably candidates were asked to list their suitability for the role as each have a "profile" ranging from little more than a brief summary no more than a paragraph long through to some akin to full CV's.
  5. Same goes for the East Stand. The message was pretty clear that only non-season ticket holders should take vouchers so I expect there will be quite a number of unhappy campers over here too. I believe many will have looked to the re-arranged Hibs game only a few months ago and considered that the arrangements put in place would be the basis of what would happen this time. This appeared to be immediately re-inforced by the message given by stewards.

    Ticket Pricing

Cheers Dave. That story completely passed me by. But it does strengthen my belief as posted earlier that many fans who if there was a cheaper ticket price on offer would be more likely to walk away than pay a higher price and feel ripped off.

    Ticket Pricing

First of I've heard that it has been or is currently used at Hearts or anywhere in Scottish football for that matter. What happened at Tynecastle? Perhaps I'm viewing it negatively or missing the point completely but surely it seems fraught with hassles unless you can be pretty much assured of a sell-out, which is hardly common place. If the club were reducing the first batch of xxx number of tickets then unless they overcharge at the other end then they are going to make a loss, no? The only way around that I see would be if more people were to come to a game than might ordinarily have come at flat rate prices. I would think that would be optimistic. It would rely on people who weren't able to get a ticket at the reduced rate, still deciding to purchase a ticket even though they may have to pay extra. I would reckon plenty would be more likely to be miffed and say stick it altogether, rather than stump up extra. In general attending games should be made as simple as possible and not over-complicating it by having to purchase tickets for games in advance that don't really merit it. It does nothing for ad-hoc decisions by fans to attend games. Take Tynecastle next weekend for example. When its live on TV, a 1245 kick-off, on a Sunday - do we really think that away stand is going to be anything other than 25% full at best? So they make it all ticket and add to the inconvenience further as folk have to make a trip/call to Fir Park or take the gamble that they may be able to pick a ticket on the day up there.
  8. Hmm, not as such, depending upon how its set up. What I was thinking of was more along the lines of how the BBC or the papers publish an article for example one running on their site today about the referendum and allow comments at the foot of it. There is a degree of moderation involved there in zapping any comments deemed unsuitable but then how many posts are made daily on here each and how many require to be removed? One in every how many thousand? I've said already my preference would be a paper copy, but the main point of allowing feedback to an online version was that it offers the potential to stimulate discussion on content which could give you more contributions to work with and contributors which was part of what you wanted to achieve no? As for a Facebook page I personally doubt I would use it. That's not to say it wouldn't attract plenty others - as David points out - the MFC page for example is regularly visited - and it can be a great tool for advertising and publicising stuff - I just don't particularly like it.
  9. It seems inevitable to me that it'll be a case of 'When' rather than 'If' for me. Just down to the timing. I'm pretty sure the club will already be weighing up factors such as the costs of maintaining Fir Park set against the costs of building a new stadium, the value of the land Fir Park sits on, prospective financial grants and potential credit terms and when those hit a particular tipping point that makes a new stadium viable then that's where we'll go. I'm sure when the time comes it will be done sensitively as possible given there will be plenty who don't want to move ofcourse. On an actual design I remain a bit fearful of a claret and amber New Broomfield but I do take a wee bit of heart of how the club seemed to have their eyes opened with Aalesund's set up when we played them.
  10. Campbell Ogilvie agreed to ignore it if Charles Green brought their biscuits for their cosy chat..... But it is a serious point you make. Did they scrap that Compliance Officer or is it just my perception that there appears to be much fewer charges being levied this season?
  11. I'm only a few pages into the issue but you have hit upon a point there Special in terms of feedback on specific articles. When it comes to fanzines I'm personally happier with a paper copy in my hand. I've seen some cracking looking magazines put online - Setanta used to do an interactive magazine when they were on the go for example where you clicked the corners and the pages turned, all nice and colourful, really looked the part. Never read it mind you as it just felt odd reading a magazine on the computer. But feedback is one of the downsides of a paper issue. There have been plenty of occasions where I thought I disagree/agree with that and you feel prompted to respond....only to mind that it could be 3 months down the line before the next issue comes out and your points will probably long since be out of date. An online version would I think benefit from the ability of folk to be able to respond and comment to articles and points raised.
  12. I went over for about three quarters of an hour before the scheduled photograph sessions were due to start so can't comment on that aspect. Like Milo I was impressed with the turn-out. It was already busy when I got in and there was a constant stream of in-comers whilst I was there. The archive had the potential to be something special with some of the items people were bringing along and should still be really good but with only one guy scanning stuff and it being limited to two items per person because of the number of people queuing with stuff, I can see a lot of treasures slipping through the net. The stadium tours looked to be extremely popular my mate was in quite sharp and had to go on the second scheduled tour and by the time I had got a couple of items scanned the earliest available wasn't until 3 o'clock. Ofcourse these are in a sense secondary issues as the main thing will have been securing new volunteers, some funding and awareness of what the day was all about, which I think will have been achieved with the strong turnout.
  13. Not really no. Surely every postponement gives you a further opportunity to tell us we'll lose?
  14. Ach that was just MJC getting a new idea for some trolling once he got back to his PC
  15. I'm feeling much more up for this than I was for the Celtic game last weekend too. I don't think I've ever been as apathetic about a game against one of the Old Firm as I was last week. Maybe the hurt from Ibrox was still there. Maybe its the realisation that games against Dundee Utd is likely to have a more important bearing on how we'll do over the course of the season but certainly that pre-match excitement is back today. I'm slightly fearful that after having enjoyed a pretty good record against them at Fir Park over the last couple of seasons we've allowed them to see a wee chink in our armour on that flat afternoon at the end of last season. I think they had it in their minds that somehow 3rd place should have rightfully been there's last season and that final game was some sort of marker for this term. Pleasingly/fortunately its not quite turned out for them as yet, although there's still bags of time for them to put a run together like they did at the business end of last season. As for the game, I'm hopeful out lot will be itching to get back to the normal routine. It's become common place for us to be able to bounce back from Old Firm losses in the past two or three years and pick up where we've left off against fellow non-OF sides. Don't see us being strong enough to keep a clean sheet but I do see us scoring so 2-1 Motherwell with Ojamaa amongst them with his first of the season.
  16. Looking forward to this as well. Not too much in the way I can take a long as most of my accumulations from over the years are boxed and stored up the old dears loft in Chapehall. But sounds like it will be a good afternoon in prospect.
  17. Still an every issue buyer but is it not just symptomatic of current times where more and more people seem to be turning away from written media? Sales of papers are down on what they were. I don't know so much about recently but MFC programme sales were dropping to an extent there was talk of doing away with them, so it's not a huge leap to see that extended to fanzines too. Reasons for it? I think you sum them up accurately already when you mention social media. I certainly don't think its a quality or price issue. Just sometimes that the technologies of the day have an affect. You could liken it to a certain extend to the demise of the Exiles Club. You'll remember that our newsletters were largely news and factual based. How many would realistically want to read a match report of a game that happened two months previously when by the end of the day they could click on a website and read and see images about 5 minutes after full-time? Same goes to an extent with fanzines where you can read, and actually engage in, debates on the issues of the day on a forum the same day they happen without waiting a few weeks to read them in print. Solutions? Perhaps pushing advance subscriptions? A paypal donations option? As a former contributor to both OSB and GLF I hope both continue to appear and thrive but perhaps it's a little damning that even as someone who buys both, I hadn't even noticed that GLF hadn't appeared this season.
  18. From memory has Humphrey not caused Dundee Utd some difficulties in the past, particularly at Fir Park. I might be mistaken but I seem to recollect him scoring a couple of times against them as well. Probably about a third of all his 'Well goals
  19. Aye Carswell's an interesting one. Considering it was McCall who plucked him from the U18's and involved him in the first-team in the run-up to the Cup Final in 2011 and subsequently gave him a new contract, I've found his lack of opportunities thus far this season a little surprising. I don't know if there have been injuries at play but I agree there have been a couple of games this season where from the few times I have seen him play, Carswell would appeared to have offered the best balance to the team, but he's been nowhere to be seen.
  20. Did Noah Dosser not mention in a post something along the lines of "new signing Axel" a couple of days ago. I took from the lack of take up of that comment that it must have been fairly well known and I'd just missed it. Perhaps not? Also given Noah's knowledge of the U20 set up I presumed he was being considered for the 20's rather than first team, although I could be well off the mark with that.
  21. Impressive as Randy has been it's hard to look past a striker who can net six in four, or six in three as it was before Saturday.
  22. I'm not sure what to expect from them. In the space of a few days when Peter Houston is using Jim Spence to send public messages to his board about his contract offer - or lack of - and United are on the back end of a four goal pumping from Inverness it gives me the impression things aren't all sweetness and light at Tannadice. I hope any internal pressures they are feeling last another wee while yet.

    Bluster

I don't know what or wasn't said by McCall on Wednesday but in respect of our fans at Ibrox I noticed he commented on the support in the programme yesterday: As I said I don't know what was said or otherwise and whether what he's written is a reaction to murmurs of discontent at that interview but posting for the benefit of those who might have missed it yesterday.
