  1. Disappointed not to have come out of that with a point.

I thought we were really good in the first half. Should have been a bit more clinical when the chances came our way granted but we played Hibs forward line superbly. Which ofcourse made it all the more sickening to go in at half-time level. It also rankled a bit that they were only in our half at that point by virtue of a free-kick that never was when Sutton was penalised for standing still and making no content with the Hibs defender whatsoever!

Someone round about us summed it up quite nicely. We'd be going in at half-time gutted that we've dominated but still aren't ahead whilst they were going in thinking, hey we've done absolutely fuck all here but are still level.

At the time I thought it looked like a possibility of a foul on Randolph. Having seen it quickly again, not so much a foul on him, but certainly a question of hand-ball.

The penalty looked the least convincing of the three claims we had but despite the introduction of more forwards we never really created anything that really threatened them whilst by that point they looked like they could score every time they broke forward.

Fine margins. Get to half 1-0 up and its a different game. Humphrey's effort or Sutton being pulled down in the box and again you've a different complexion to things.

Just disappointing that we haven't managed to get a point which I think we deserved over the piece.

  2. While leaving aside the debate about the prices, I think we are all pretty much agreed that we want the place as full as possible when Odense visit.

Was pretty encouraging then that less than an hour of the tickets going on sale there was a queue of about a dozen in front of me when I arrived with perhaps slightly more waiting when I left.

  3. I agree it will depend on the celtic game, however, I also think the BBC should ignore them simply because of celtic's ignorance in not allowing the BBC radio coverage of the home leg.

It will aslo dempend on Danish tv, if there is another game they want to show then they will pick that one and not our game. This happened when we played Aalesund, Danish tv showed Molde v Stuttgart, therefore, it was very hard to find a live stream

I am going to Denmark, as are many, so am sure the motherwell fans staying home will get min by min updates from us that are there

    pride'

That'll never happen though. There have been several occasions in the past when one of the Old Firm have taken the huff with media. I agree they should ignore them but all they do is instead of using that airtime or space to talk about them, is talk about how how terrible it all is that they won't talk to them

Hopefuly one of our Danish visitors will be kind enough to keep us posted about any word of coverage be it online or on satellite?

  4. I remember you being able to buy Scottish Football League sleeve patches from the club shop. I would guess it would have been 1995'96 season, though possibly the season before.

Certainly one of the two though as I was foolish enough to purchase said patches and putting them on my Pony home strip of the day. I quickly learned the error of my ways and they were soon hastily removed.

  5. As I recall we finished runners-up to Celtic in the Reserve League West that year.

I think those days were perhaps the height of my Motherwell obsession and my old man and I, along with a handful of others, trooped around various places like Forthbank and Firs Park watching the reserves that year.

We actually got some pretty good crowds for them as well. East Stirlingshire produced a programme for those games and listed attendances. Most of them were 80's, 90's and the small hundreds and when you got to us I think we'd almost a 1000 at the corresponding game at Fir Park.

One of the games that cost us the title was a 2-2 draw towards the end of the season at Forthbank. Curiously enough we had to play them a week or so later and I couldn't make it as I was taking the BB fitba team that night. My old man and sister still went though. 14-0 to Motherwell I think it was in the end.... :whistling:

  6. That is what made my mind up. I thought the defence was immense last night, big Randolph looks the business, (BTW who was the last Motherwell keeper to have 3 clean sheets in his first 4 competitive games? )

Mikko Kaven started with 4 shut-outs in his first six or if you take league games three in his first four under the defensively minded Harri Kampman.

  7. If this guy is being chased by Premier league teams this is unbeleivable, all the boy did was pick the ball out of the net. (right enough our goals were of the highest class)

Was watching SSN yesterday before heading to work hoping to see the goals and they had a brief interview with him given with Solskaer was in the crowd, rumoured to be watching him.

Nothing against the guy but I did smirk as he had a serious petted lip mumbling about conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes and not having a save to make thereafter....

  8. If your talking SPL and Europe I'm sure Killie would still be in front of us in the stats. That will hopefully change in next few years right enough.

Yeah, good job Squirrelhumper hasn't spotted this or he'd be attempting to set the OP straight.

As it happens while I wouldn't say there's much between Killie and ourselves all he would really need to say is that they've won the Championship more recently than us, won the Scottish Cup more recently than us and been in a Cup final more recently than us. Even if you use Europe as a barometer were they not pumping the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt about 20 years before we even qualified.

Nah, let's keep schtum about this particular claim.

  9. Indeed, can only echo that. Granted I didn't want their first foray into European football to be a success but result apart they look as if they've enjoyed their European experience to the full. Good on them!

  10. Buzzing with nervous aniticipation now!! Trying not to think too much about the game.....so naturally soon as tea-break time comes I'm on here like a fly on a shit to get the latest :)

It would be fantastic if we exploded out the traps and got an early couple of goals but like most I can only anticipate a very long and nerve wracking evening ahead.

Going to require more input than usual from the 'Well fans than ever in both giving as much vocal encouragement as we possibly can and remaining as patient and positive as we can too.

    Mon the 'Well!!

  11. been working away, got to ticket office this morning ( small queue) only tickets available now are lower south stand...all other stands are sold out and south stand is selling well too they told me !!

    C'MON the WELL

Nice one. If we've encroached into the South Stand then that's really good to hear. I hope it proves to be a positive, rather than a negative having Dossers on all four sides of the ground.

  12. I think when you've been on the receiving end on a few occasions it entitles you to air your concerns on a forum like this if you choose to do so.

I'm sure that those who have aired grievances are doing so not simply to moan for the sake of it but in the hope that someone will pick up on it and there won't be a repeat. Whilst I was happy enough to put my thoughts directly to the club - many won't. However given that we know that the club do monitor views and opinions on here, provided you aren't going over the score then I don't see it as unreasonable to list instances where things could be improved upon.

  13. Thats a good point. People are very quick to blame the club when there is every possibility the problem lies with royal mail. Anyway, I really don't see how not getting a reminder letter through can make you decide not to get a season book. We are supporters of the club, and I am sure we are all aware that season tickets are on sale every year. If your not sure, you can phone them or email them. I know the point is that you expected a letter, but it is a courtesy, not a requirement.

Quite how Royal Mail have been able to post out both season tickets and Aalesund tickets that were both marked for collection I'd be interested to know :notworthy:

It may be argued it's a courtesy to send a renewal letter but really it should be an essential part of keeping and encouraging fans to renew. You can shrug off the non-delivery of them but it's an opportunity lost in communicating the benefits of season tickets and whatever else is happening at the club that can reap commercial dividends be it parties, bricks, strips or whatever.

We are in too perilous a state as a game to assume people will renew without some promptings or gentle persuasion. Clubs should be chasing custom at every turn - and that goes for pay at the gate supporters as much as season ticket holders.

  14. My sister has just taken delivery of a pile of Norwegians at the Premier Inn she works at (Orion Way on London Road).

Early reports suggest they're a friendly bunch, quite funny, about to hit the town and one told her 'Well fans only know one song! B-)

  15. I don't know where I've heard it or seen it but I seem to remember talk of a section in the South Stand being made available for an expected 400 Aalesund fans? Might have been in response to a question on why parts of the Main Stand were out of commission.

In response to the OP though whilst I accept where you are coming from, I think back to trips I've been on away watching MFC in Europe and remember fondly some fine hospitality from the Faroes to Wales and I'd like to think that any team that comes to Motherwell on European business is greeted the same as I've been.

By all means make it as intimidating and hostile as we possibly can for their team on the night, but I hope their fans are well catered for whilst in Fir Park and Scotland as a whole.

  17. Fitzy, Hutch, Page all played well today. Don`t get why CB don`t try Page at RB, looks good at getting forward, with decent delivery. Seen him at Ayr aswell, n thats both games he has played at LB, when RB would surely be a more natural position for him?

There's not really been that much opportunity to try him out there though. Brown would appear to rate him having given him an extended contract so no suggestion that he isn't well thought of.

But given we were pushing for Europe last season - and he was out on loan for a few months - and we're now on something of a knife-edge with each European tie there's not really been a big window for experimentation.

  18. Can we buy tickets on the day of the match? I'm probably heading through early so will the ticket office be open day of game to purchase? I know tomorrow is last day for phone orders but one of my mates isn't sure if he's heading through yet :wallbash:

You should be fine early on on Thursday, its if you appear at the last minute there might be hassles. When waiting in the queue on Saturday one of the folk in the Ticket Office was in conversation about the ticket sales and she commented that whilst it was busy she was happy people were buying early as some were appearing minutes before kick-off expecting to get in, and getting agitated when they had to buy tickets.

  19. The club did not want to be the first ever not to have a replica strip available to purchase before the start of the season. Simple as, really.

The club would have been frustrated at the amount to sales they were losing out on, as the last few weeks would generally have been the busiest for shifting the strips due to people buying them for holidays and the European games etc.

And like many have mentioned there is a deal in place, but the nature of the deal, and those involved, mean it's not been a straightforward set-up.

Paragraphs two and three may well be the case but I can remember at least a couple of occasions where our strips have only gone on sale after the start of the season. The year we won the cup we were into September before we had the strip on sale.

  20. My 'online viewing' vote was sanctioned last week.

Sadly, didn't see or hear any of the action from Norway. Absolutely scunnered with the Beeb for their lack of coverage. They'll give Jonathan Woss £6M but won't cover the 'Well in Europe. :drinks:

They tried to explain this a bit this afternoon after apparently receiving a number of complaints, curiously though the text they read out was not from a Dosser or Hibby but a weegie based Dundee Utd fan who claimed it was a disgrace :drinks:

Basically Richard Gordon put it down to a mixture of being unable to determine who held the radio broadcasting rights and being unable to complete a deal with those unspecified rights holders.

He didn't however say what was contractually different between these two games and Thursday and all the other games which they've covered in the past.

The United fan then texted back in saying he now felt a bit guilty for complaining....
