  1. Mind thinking that before he rattled in two against Hibs a few years back. You never know....

I remember that one. Unbelievably John Bryce (programme seller of many years) that day stuck money on Craigan to be first scorer which was a shock in itself it coming up. Half-time he goes collects his money, and sticks something else on him to be last scorer in the 2nd half - which he got up again!!!!!

  2. It's all the more welcome as having a questionable attitude was one of the things he was accused of in the past when he was at Huddersfield if I remember rightly.

When he joined I seem to mind some stuff about a fall out with the manager, chucking his strip away after being subbed and generally being disliked by their fans.

I hope the fact that he feels wanted at Fir Park will stand us in good stead if Everton are prepared to let him go, be it on loan again or for good.

  3. that wouldnt but cause of my ties with the club, if put anythin on here that may be considered too personal to the club they might start getting on to me, i know a lot of internal stuff that has happened there nd agreed to a confidentilaty policy when i was there so that is why i haveto hold back on a lot i want to say

In that case I'm reminded of that episode of Red Dwarf where Rimmer turns to the Kat and says: "There are many things we can all bring to the debate. The best of which you can bring is silence".

  4. Every football stadium is the same, with the exception of Rugby Park (although they had nae tablet last time!!).

Killie's was first rate last week. Not that I bought anything but about 10 minutes in the second half some Killie official appeared at the back of the Main Stand with a basket full of pies to dish out to 'Well fans!

  5. Perhaps a bit trickier to administer possibly but I still think there's merit in a mini-season ticket with options where you buy anything from a 2 game package to a 10 game package aimed at those who want to pick and choose or for whatever reasons have are limited to what games they can attend.

The enticement over paying on the gate is an increasing discount the more matches that the buyer commits too.

You could have packages including the Old Firm (with the additional supplement that comes with those games) or without them (then being a bit cheaper).

You could have a scratch card and seal style ticket where you select your games whilst buying, scratch off the appropriate fixtures and the ticket gets sealed (in the same way if you buy an SPT Daytripper Ticket for example) or you could have the traditional tear off tickets as we have in existing season books.

I think it would be something that could be targeted at the Christmas market as well as punters who can't make all the games for example when I get asked what I want from relatives I always ask for dosh to get a game or two over Christmas and New Year.

  6. It will not be a shock to either side as both teams have been in the stand when we shared with Gretna

True, but they likely wouldn't have been there in the same numbers as there will be at the Semi Final and the shiny water collecting dustbins are a relatively recent addition.

  7. Anyone done this ???

What can I do, please tell me its no gonna cost me 40 quid or something for a new one.

Phoning them or taking a trip up to FP and explaining your plight would seem the sensible thing to do no?

Least you'll know where you stand rather than fretting about it?

  8. I'm surprised St Mirren were not kicking up fuck about Lasley being offside for the second goal. Was a good couple of yards too. Decisions like that are always appreciated though when they go in our favour. :whistling:

After due consideration.......... FUCK THEM! Tough titties Saints!

  9. Pitch didn't look the greatest but I thought it still looked better than Rugby Park did last weekend where it was reported that the weather, undersoil heating and covers had caused the damage - not too dis-similar to what we are hearing about Fir Park.

In fairness its exactly as was said by the club back when the pitch was first sown that it would likely have a tricky first year, particularly when winter arrived. Thereafter it would better with each passing season, which ofcourse remains to be seen.

I do have some reservations about what will be said after the CIS Semi. Not so much with the pitch but for those who'll be in the East Stand (Falkirk fans I think). There's already a thread about it so I'm not going to start another but whilst I've got no hassles with 'Well fans commenting on it - might be shit but its our shit and many of us love it - but it won't be nice to have to opposition fans walking in and meeting two dustbins collecting drips from the roof slating it and us.

  10. You might look at the stats and say "St. Mirren haven't scored more than once in a league match since October so if we score we won't lose" but of course that last time St. Mirren scored more than once was against us!

Another stat though is that the Buddies have lost their last five away matches in the league, in fact their away record is pretty dire they have only won twice away from home against the two bottom sides (Falkirk and Kilmarnock) and lost the rest.

So no excuses on Saturday its a game we should be winning, so I'll go for a 1-0 win.

Last five at Fir Park doesn't make great reading though.

    Lost 0-2

    Won 2-1

    Draw 1-1

    Lost 2-3

    Draw 0-0

You're worse than MJC - you provide stats to back up your prophesies of doom! :P;)

In all seriousness though when considering the outcomes of games I try (though often fail) to distance myself from the kind of thinking you've posted. You can tie yourself in knots if you start delving too much into the stats.

Perception is that we just always bomb against St Mirren but there once was a time not so long ago that we cleansweeped them one season and they went about 3 seasons without beating us.

Illustrates that eventually things can change and who knows that reverse could start tomorrow.

    Narrow win for the Steelmen!

  11. Post from the Accies World forum. The poster has some kind of official position or connection to Accies. Wonder what the "tentative other commitment" could be?

Firstly, it shouldn't be assumed that both clubs have a free weekend, M'well have a tentative other commitment in the event of them being out the Scottish Cup.

However, that could be re-scheduled. Also there is CIS semi final at Fir Park that midweek.

But, the matter has been discussed with the SPL, and we shall know soon icon_wink.gif

  12. Is it significant that its only training and leisure gear that's reduced and not any of the strips?

I'll take that as a positive, particularly given some talk of apparent discontent from the shirt sponsors some months back. I admit it was the doubt over the renewal of the shirt sponsors that stopped me getting both tops this time around.

Still its only January mind you so its early days yet - and Christmas is still a bit too fresh in the mind to go slashing kit prices.

  13. good point mate, some people are on jsa [£64 a week]and had tae jack their job in to make the 3 euro games this year ;)

What? Motherwell in Europe? How did I miss this. Surely someone who had been to the games would have mentioned it somewhere along the line.......

    :D

  14. I'm not sold on a full blown switch from March - October but I do believe we should be looking to start earlier, finish later and have a break in January.

By incorporating that model I think we would still be able to incorporate many of the valid benefits that Ladywell illustrates in the opening post such as being more competitive for the European games and early Scotland games.

Personally I would have our New Year games then close down and kick in with the Scottish Cup in the last weekend of the month. The usual argument levied against a winter break is that you don't know when the bad weather would be and there's no time to fit in the games that would have been played in January.

For me avoiding the worst of the weather is only one part it. The players would get a breather and be able to recover from any injuries - important for a team such as us who kicked off our season so early. Fans get a chance to recover financially when January is generally a long month if you've had your wages early.

The other part is fitting the games in. Again I feel that could be overcome - getting rid of the split when the fixtures are required to be squeezed in by the last week in March/first in April would help that.

In contrast to what fizoxy says though I do actually think their is a growing desire for change, albeit from the SFA if not the SPL so I wouldn't be surprised to see some movement over time.

  15. the duke just shades j.o.b for me. his movement, hold up play and awareness is exceptional. we're really gonna miss him if he leaves

Spot on. He's a perfect illustration of why you should never make snap judgements about players.

For the first month or so he seemed like a square peg being forced into a round hole but the player then bears no comparison to what we have now.

He offers perhaps everything managers are looking for in the modern day forward - as you say Gdalli his ability to hold the ball up is top notch, he can zip about the park when needed and allied to that can regularly find the back of the net.

I'm become more and more impressed with him the longer he's been with us.
