  1. Sun linking us with McCall.....Stuart McCall.

    McCall story

SunSport can reveal Rangers legend McCall is now a major contender to succeed Craig Brown in the Fir Park hotseat.

And if he does get the job his first game is likely to be against Gers on Boxing Day.

Well chairman John Boyle has shown his preference for looking outside the box when appointing bosses.

Mark McGhee, Jim Gannon and Brown were all unexpected choices.

Former Scotland star McCall, 46, would fit a similar remit after spendning three years in charge at Bradford.

He left the Bantams in February and has been scouting for Norwich under former Gers chief talent-spotter Euan Chester.

But he is keen to get back in the dugout and would be available without Well having to pay compensation.

Fir Park sources claim McCall isn't the only man the Well board are interested in.

But he is on their shortlist. John Collins, Miodrag Krivokapic, Chris McCart and Phil Brown are among other names discussed.

SunSport revealed last week that Steve Clarke was wanted by Well but he is keen to land the Sheffield United job.

  2. I am enjoying this thread

Murphy - has done very well in the u-21's, in Europe and in the league with Motherwell. To name him in the squad would be a boost to his growing confidence and give him the chance to train with guys like Darren Fletcher and Craig Gordon.

He is pacey, has an eye for goal and is comfortable with the ball.

That said, he could improve his strength and looking at my comments above, he isn't really a Levein type player!

Reynolds - I don't think Reynolds is good enough to play for Scotland, that said he should surely be selected above Steven Caldwell.

Humphrey - is certainly pacey but tends to always go on the outside and can be found out. He could be good against opposition like the Faroes, but he isn't international class. Lets be honest. Take off the claret and amber tinted glasses.

Hammel - is not international class in any shape or form. Good pro for the 'well but nowhere near good enough or fit enough to represent the country.

    This.

Hammell is to us what Garry Hay or Jamie Hamil is to Kilmarnock.
