  1. A blind man could see what clarkson and mcfadden would've brought to Motherwell on and off the pitch but McCall had other ideas.

If we get relegated it will be McCalls legacy to motherwell rather than the previous high league finishes.

And this kinda pish is why I very rarely look on this forum any more...............

  2. Yeah, we're not fit, we've no goalie, our defence is poor, we've one decent striker. I assume our midfield is OK.

Jeez, another season where we'll struggle....oh wait a minute!

U still up? The voice of reason strikes again. Let's wait until Thursday before we get the burning torches & pitchforks oot eh???

Keep the faith folks. U know it makes sense......

  3. I know. Just how lucky are we? Average, lazy players, poor manager decisions. How on earth can we compete with a team containing Scotland's future or Celtics next challengers I'll never know.

Check out the league table ya twangers.

    EXACTLY!

  4. Rangers fans at work tell me he was in the Loudon Tavern watching a recent Rangers game on TV & telling the local knuckle-draggers he's always had a soft-spot for Rangers. Hmmmmm, cannae be many Shaun's that lay claim to that over the years. Hopefully it's a lot of pish cos the big man has been excellent for us. A wee bit raw aye but hard as f*ck & willing to put himself in the firing line more than most.

  5. Great team performance all round but special mention for Hammell who was a real leader today & played out of his skin. I'd have given him MOTM & Leitch definitely the young MOTM. No failures today though so credit to the full team is due.

  6. Glad I didn't read who everyone else had voted for before sticking Vigurs down as MOTM. Thought he stood out a mile. Great distribution, vision & an eye for goal. Clever player, that if he had a wee bit more pace would be top class. Thoroughly enjoyed his contribution recently.

  7. Vigurs keeping the ball down at the corner flag near the end as we ran down the clock was.class, surrounded by county players yet they still.couldn't get a touch.

Loved that. Total highlight for me as well. The fuckwits behind me were roaring for him to cross it & I was thinking just keep it in there. Well impressed with Vigurs last couple of games. Not a lot of pace but he's got loads of ability & an eye for a pass when it's on. Just happy with another 3 points. At the stage of the season where we all need to show some patience & get behind the team. I know that's alien to some on here but it will make a difference to the results.

Another great season looming if we can just keep it going.

Cliché I know but there's going to be a right few tough games over the next few weeks so keeping the support levels up is vital.

  8. That "jammy" 4-3 win over Thistle doesn't seem so bad after Aberdeen lose there does it. Add that to the team with the much higher budget, bigger home crowds etc beating an understrength Motherwell 3-1 & yet we're still 6 points ahead wi' a game in hand. Hardly a f*ckin' crisis at FP is it? Why not do everyone a favour & get behind your team rather than systematically ripping them to shreds at every hiccup.

  9. Great game of football that had everything in it. Aye, some poor defending but the will to win from Motherwell was top drawer. Took great pleasure in telling the complete fuds that sit behind us in the Cooper to sit down & shut their f*ckin' mouths when we got the winner. They spent the full game (& every other game this season) mumping & moaning that "only one team gonnae win this & it ain't Motherwell". Sad that you end up celebrating a GIRUY moment at your own fuckwit "fans" rather than for your team.

Magic entertainment & once again the manager & team deserve a massive pat on the back for digging that out.

    Superb stuff.

  10. Tid I must know you. I went on dalziel arms bus for years.

Every chance mate. Hardly missed an away game for a good few years early 90's right thru til it stopped running. Great time being a Well fan. Cracking bunch ay boys & some "lively" characters travelled on that bus. Went to Dortmund on the bus as well in 94. Trip & a half.

  11. I ended up on the Hibs side of the road, calling youse all 'Motherwell bassas' in my finest Leith accent.

wise move Kev! me & you were experts at staying out of trouble in those days. The Scooby & Shaggy double-act on the DL bus.....

  12. That was the 88 game. Scary stuff. Remember a few old motherwell fans laying into some Hibs late with their brollys as it was all kicking off.

The other game was in the mid 90's. Stewards being heavy handed to a few old motherwell fans, so the SS attacked them. Remember a steward getting stretchered out the game.

was there too. 2 buses left the Dalziel Arms for this one & got escorted right up to the gate at the away end. For the first time that season we went up in my mates car instead of the DL bus. Ended up parked miles away & had to walk the gauntlet thru scores of bams looking for grief. again trouble on the terraces saw the steward getting knocked out & after Hibs went up 2-0 (again) we headed back to the car with another lad who'd travelled thru on the bus. Eerie as f*ck wandering thru the deserted streets with the token Hibs boy at just about every corner en-route back to the car checking in with their mates on the mobiles. Once again a nervy escape fae Easter Rd which believe me was a nightmare ground in the mid to late 80's & early 90's. In saying that they didnae get it all their own way at FP in those days no matter what hooligan books you read or website's you visit....

  13. hibs away, when they had the wooden benches behind the goal - no cover

cant remember if hibs infiltrated the well end or if it was well fans fighting the police

but i was about 10, and more interested in that than watching the game!!!!

anyone else have a recollection of that?

from a football point of view -

losing to St Mirren in the cup when they were in the First division - we'll call it Charlie Adam day - he destroyed us

losing to Airdrie in th cup, someone (Lasely?) scored an O|G from about 25 yards

i can accept defeats in the league, i think we are much of a muchness, losing cup games always hits me hardest as i know its our only real chance of success

remember it well. Large Hibs mob in the Well end who celebrated when they took the lead early on . Q a bigger Motherwell mob attacking them under the floodlight towards the Hibs shed. Motherwell forced their casuals right against the fence & were laying into them with a huge Hibs mob at the other side of the fence baying for blood. Eventually the police split up the warring factions & forced the bloodied Hibs mob back over into their end & after taking the names of the Motherwell boys they chucked them all out before HT leaving only the "ordinary" fans & a handful of casuals in the game. Hibs were 2-0 up & Stevie Bryce scored late on for us to make 2-1 but we never got the equaliser. Came out of the ground & crossed that bridge to absolutely hundreds of Hibs casuals ready for murder. The polis were at full stretch trying to stop them coming over the road to get at us & there were dozens of them mixed in with our escort up Easter Rd trying to get at us at every opportunity wi' some wee polis wummin waving her truncheon at them keeping them back like a lion tamer. They were jumping over cars trying to force their way over the road, constantly getting beaten back by the boys (and girl) in blue. Never been as relieved in my life to get on a bus. Even then they were trying to get on the coaches up at the top of Easter Rd & if the cops hadn't been up for it as much as their mob it would have been straight to casualty for half the buses. After Motherwell's finest getting the "result" so to speak on the terraces they were right up for revenge & I can honestly say it was the most nerve-wracking experience of my time watching Motherwell.

didnae stop me going back right enough!

  14. Stats? Aberdeen should be three times the team we are, but they aren't. Daisy said it was a good three points around 88 minutes ,I had a gut feeling we were drawing the game, still doesn't mean we shouldn't have cleared our lines and seen out the win.

How many times have we stole the points off bigger teams? Yesterday could have been no different

aye, all very well. But we're talking about Saturday's game, nothing more, nothing less. On chances created, attempts at goal, possession, clearances of the line, hitting the woodwork twice I'd say they merited a draw. Take the C&A tinted specs off big yin.

Onyhow, onwards & upwards. The fact we're competing with Aberdeen for 2nd at all is testament to the managerial team & players.

  15. They didn't have THAT many chances, you're seeing them from the other end of the ground mate, our luck run out in injury time.

watched the game again on Alba. They were in great positions plenty of times albeit they didn't always work the keeper (which is just as well). Check the match stats if in doubt.

  16. Sod all that they deserved a draw shite .If we had a half decent keeper in goals yesterday we would have got the three points .Same mistakes keep reoccurring ...Parry the ball to the opposition player and absolutely lost at crosses .Keepers fault we drew but we are stuck with him . The rest of the team played well against a good Dons team

Watch the highlights later. When you see the chances they had you'll see why they deserved a point. Shite as it is losing a late goal in those circumstances you've got to look at the full 90 plus minutes. We've had 3 chances & scored 2 goals. They've had a lot more & only scored 2 as well. No' the worst result in the world all things considered.

  17. Just an a-side on something I've not seen mentioned yet. Rooney had been yellow-carded for a challenge in the middle of the park just prior to his goal. On scoring the goal he runs up jumps the advertising hoardings & runs up towards the Dons fans. Personally I don't think that should be a booking & quite happy when one of our players does the same but do the rules not state that is an automatic yellow card & therefore he should have been sent off obviously? Someone keep me right with that ruling?

On the game itself, personally would have taken a draw before the game & although gutted at losing the goal in that manner that late in the game I think realistically a point for Aberdeen was well-merited based on the balance of play.

What is impressing me (Celtic game apart) is that we seem to be pretty clinical over the last month or two, maybe not creating loads of chances but by & large finishing a real good percentage of the one's we do.

  18. What would it prove? Well I'd respect him more for a start and I expect I'm not alone in that. I'm sick fed up hearing him trot out the same tired excuses and vows on the back of such poor displays as Friday night, ie. 'the opposition were tremendous but we'll learn our lessons'. You know, just something to show that our manager is at least aware of how bad the performances are in these games and really wants to do something to change them. Hearing him constantly spout the same drivel about how brilliant they were and how we'll learn our lessons is extremely tiresome, especially since we never do appear to learn any lessons from these games.

Who would I have as a replacement?

Well I said on here the other day that Paul Hartley would be a good choice as a replacement because he appears to be a forward thinking, up and coming young coach with his own ideas and that is something that I think would benefit us just now, to have a fresh approach brought to the table. Changing the manager doesn't always work for the better but its something that needs to be done at some point regardless of how well things are going and in our case right now I think it would benefit us to get a new and fresh approach because it is clear that McCall cannot and will not take us any further. His complete botch up of the summer rebuilding job coupled with his tactical ineptness and inability to motivate the team when it really matters all points to his time being up for me.

that's exactly where he can't win though. At least he's honest in his appraisal of other teams performances. If Celtic lose Lennon instantly turns on the officials or some other lame excuse crops up. He never, ever gives any praise to the other team no matter what's went on in the previous 90 mins & off course that shower of shite that follow Celtic lap it up with the full paranoia, chip on the shoulder us against the world bollocks that they've played on for years. You argue that McCall cannot & will not take us any further. Further than what exactly? We're top 6 every year almost & although we've had a total 'mare in the cups this year we've no divine right to be any more successful than we have been.

Every other club in the league could lay claim to be as deserving of either silverware or higher league finishes as we are. I'll say it again with our budget we've out-performed the vast majority of Scottish teams over recent seasons.

As for the Paul Hartley shout. Who knows, he might be a sensation but I'll guarantee you one thing. A couple of early cup exits & a few league defeats & it will be "that Celtic b*stard hasnae got a clue" or "that wee Accies c*nt can get tae f*ck"

    Nothing surer.......

  19. I'd like him to accept for once that he's got it wrong with the team selection and preparation and to stop trying to fob the support off with nonsense like "we'll be better next time", when we never are, and trying to make out that performances like last night were somehow excusable because "Celtic were brilliant" and "they didn't create any outstanding chances", the latter of which is complete bullshit because they could easily have scored 10.

and what will that prove? Will you give him an easy ride cos he's admitted he's culpable for the defeat/performance? I doubt it. All we'll hear is "ah telt ye he wisnae up to the job". No win situation.

Who would you have as a replacement as a matter of interest?

I get the feeling the same folk that hounded Tommy McLean out of FP years ago are the same ones that voted him the best Motherwell manager of all time a couple of years back. We're impossible to impress as fans at times. Top 6? no' good enough we should be in Europe, Top 3 & into Europe, no' good enough we cannae compete in Europe, 2nd in the league? no' good enough blah-blah. Most other teams in the league would be delighted to be in the position we've been in for the last few years. If any other manager could take us up a level within our wage bracket & with our budget, well fair enough let's get them in. Otherwise have a think about it seriously. Where do you think we should be? There's clubs our size or thereabouts support wise & history wise who you could argue could & should be above us who are not even in the SPFL. Think Dunfermline, Dundee, Falkirk & that's just the lower league teams. We've consistently out-performed the likes of Hearts, Hibs, Utd & Aberdeen over the last few years which we've no right to expect. Honestly wouldn't matter who was in charge at FP, some folk would rather dish out abuse rather than praise......

  20. Exactly. Not to mention Nielsen having to block from Izaguirre and Commons and Brown at point blank range and them missing a sitter from a header in the first half before they scored.

Either McCall is a fucking moron or he thinks the entire support are fucking morons but if he seriously believes that quote then we've got problems.

WTF do you want him to say? At the end of the day he's contracted to give interviews at the end of every game win, lose or draw & whether we've played well or not. He's onto a complete hiding either way. Apart from the last week or so & a few isolated games here & there he's been a f*ckin' miracle worker since he's been at FP. I said it early in his tenure that he'd get short shrift from our fans because he's ex-Rangers & now folk can't wait to put the boot in. Fair enough criticism is due for the cup games this season & obviously we've done hee-haw in Europe but realistically would any other manager have even got us into the positions we've been in in the league in recent seasons.

Our budget is miniscule compared with not only Celtic but also with a well over half the league I'd bet. Our core support at FP doesn't generate anything like enough dough to compete with most of the clubs in the SPFL & yet for the last few years we've managed just that. Off course it's soul-destroying been torn apart like we were tonight & much more so last week but at the end of the day Dynamo couldn't come in & do a better f*ckin' job that McCall has over the last few seasons.

Christ it's been a right shitter of a few weeks watching us but just who do you think would do a better fucking job? Hate to admit it but there's two folk that generally spout a lot of pish in the papers that have spoken some sense this week, one being Goram & the other being popcorn teeth Lennon when he says he can't believe the abuse McCall is getting after what he's achieved with such a small budget.

Name me one manager out there who'd realistically come to FP that would be do a better job with the resources we've got.

    short selective memories at times...........
