For me, the only bright spark in a torrid 90 mins was the willingness of wee Craig Moore when he came on. Worked hard & was unlucky not to score with a couple of attempts. Got to be ahead of wee McHugh now I think. Maybe time to try him up front with Sutton cos Anier looks to be toiling at the moment.

First goal was bad enough but to lose another right after that was a right boot in haw maws. Already missing a 3/4s of your back 4 it was never going to be an easy shift but for once you have to give credit to the opposition. They blew us away & in the end 0-4 flattered us. First 10 mins or so we actually started quite well but we don't half look fragile at the moment. A real lack of confidence coursing through the team right now. Let's however have a reality check here. Should we be finishing top 2 or 3 every season on the budget we've got? No chance. Even when we're flying & challenging right up there at the end of the season we still can't attract a half-decent crowd. We've enjoyed a right few good seasons of relative success albeit in the higher league positions rather than in the cups but at the end of the day what gives us the God-given right to be ahead of the likes of Hearts, Aberdeen, United, Hibs or even Killie, St Mirren or whoever? All the talk of "the worst I've seen ever" is a lot of bollocks. Knee jerk reactions after a few poor performances. At the end of the day the match day experience is about far more than the result. For me it's meeting the mates, having a few scoops & catching up on the last week or two. Obviously it's disappointing to lose, especially in the manor we did today or more so against Aberdeen the other week but I for one have seen some dross over the years & still stuck with it so the least we can do is get behind the team when they do lose a few games. We weren't great today but holy f*ck I've seen a hell of a lot worse.
get yir heads up & give a bit of support rather than constantly putting the boot in. You never know it might just get a positive reaction on the pitch.

on a brighter note have to agree that Pettigrew was my first real Well hero as a boy but he definitely wasn't the same player when he moved on elsewhere because he never had the genius of Bobby Graham alongside him. An unsung hero if ever there was one. Brilliant front two. In more recent times (well relatively) I loved watching Coyne & Arnott together & it's open to debate if there's been any better strike partnerships at FP over the last 30 years or so as those two pairings mentioned. The 1st McGhee season was a joy to watch as was last season in the majority too but would be interested to hear other people's views of the best front line we've had, be it front 2, 3 or whatever.

said it before but if Hateley's father hadn't played for Rangers he'd never have got the stick he gets from a chunk of our fans. Very decent full back in an excellent team who very rarely let the team down over the few years he was here.
Our loss would be Killie's gain although it does seem very much a sideways if not downward move for the boy.

This makes sense now albeit about 15 yrs later! My head office is in Sheffield
& every year from 1990 until 2006 or thereabouts we used to play in our group 5-a-side tournament down there which really was just an excuse for a piss-up (in later years anyway efter we were too old to win it which we did on numerous occasions in the 90's including 1 year in full Motherwell kit with a few ahem ringers fae the Shire). Anyway one year a crowd of us were out on the lash after playing during the day including a boy fae work who was an Airdrie die-hard (good c*nt tho believe it or no'). standing Q'ing to get in this dodgy nightclub & who's in front of us, none other than the famous Kenny Black who at the time was with Airdrie. I off course gave him pelters for playing for THEM while my Airdrie colleague who'd partaken in a fair chunk of the quarter ounce of speed that had made the journey down from Scotland with the boys proceeded to make his night hell while prattling on a la Spud's interview in Trainspotting. didnae know until now that he actually stayed there.

Much as it pains everybody on here you can see why Law might take up the offer from Rangers. If he is settled in the area he can probably quadruple his wages at the very least playing in an easier league & not have the upheaval of uprooting his family. Damn sure if any of us got that offer through work you'd snap the hands of the person offering it. Annoying for all us if it does happen but I can't understand the hatred against players moving to the OF. Pearson took loads of abuse but he moved to a club he loved, his wages jumped up to 8k p/w & he's ended up wi' a former Miss Scotland. All that for an ugly c*nt who would get his money back on the ghost train. Couldnae see that happening if he'd stayed at Fir Park.........
Nicky Law has been a great servant & a pleasure to watch at FP & that's all I care about.

As I've put on a post about Motherwell players in your street a year or two back I got a reminder about Sasa when I read this the other day. I lived in Windmill Court flats in Motherwell from 95 - 2002 & had a number of Motherwell players staying in the flats below me as the club let rented them for some of the players during Billy Davies reign. we had Ged Brannan, Shivute, Derek Adams & umpteen others staying below us & most Monday nights were entertaining to say the least as the players went out on the lash & came back in blazing buzzin our intercom until about 5 in the morning. by far the most entertaining tho was Curcic who stayed in the bottom flat for about 5 weeks & held full on one man raves with Euro-techno blaring out the window's accompanied by his constant whoops & hollers as he bounced about his room off his tits! the boy was a full on loon-choon....................blended right in as a neighbour to be fair

I was particularly miffed, as an Edinburgh based Well fan who'd endured 15yrs of shyte from Jambo workmates, to blow a gilt edged chance to relegate them was highly frustrating.
Very hot day, sunburnt neck, usual scrammash with rogue Jambos out in Gorgie Road ............... and you should have seen the toilets in the 80's !!!!!!!
Up on the Dalziel Arms bus & turned into an eventful day to say the least. Jumped off the bus behind at the back of the brewery & most of us went for a quick slash whilst the rest trooped into the (I think) Wheatsheaf pub only to come bursting back out followed by Hearts hooligan element. Cue an onslaught on the pub as two of the M'well lads got stuck inside the pub with the doors being rapidly pulled closed by their now fleeing casuals. With only a locked double door with two small windows in it no-one could get in to get the boys out. eventually a Hearts boy came flying out swinging a pool cue at all & sundry before being battered back in. Eventually the cops arrived & rounded everyone up & let some get to the game with the majority being ushered back to the waiting bus. about a dozen of us made it to the game with my big mate getting arrested en-route in a mistaken identity shout by the polis who were looking for someone else with the same coloured jacket on. he was later let out & got back to the bus in one piece. after the game which I remember hee-haw about other than the score we got back to the coach with them all still celebrating in the ground or so we thought. the coach started driving away minus the two boys from the pub who'd been hospitalised & a few of their mates who'd gone to make sure they were ok. as we crawled along in traffic we spot none other than around 35 Hearts CSF mob who'd been in the pub walking up the road. they proceeded to chase after the bus nearly catching up with it a few times before the traffic moved. half our bus was up for getting off & having a go with them but the driver didnae fancy stopping for obvious reasons. as we approached the Jenners depository we stopped at the lights & two of our boys opened the emergency door on the bus & ran towards this mob just as the bus pulled away. after some frantic shouts the driver stopped about 100 yards away & everyone piled off for a full blown barney in the middle of the street causing traffic chaos which was only stopped when the police arrived & heavy handedly forced Motherwell onto the bus & told us all to f*ck off in no uncertain terms. the two boys who jumped off were pretty badly hurt, one with what looked like a broken hand & the other wi' an eye resembling a black snooker baw after getting coshed a belter at some point before everyone else got there.
apart fae that it was a nice quiet day oot!!

The abuse Hately takes week in & week out is nothing new. He's just been added to a massive list of players who our "supporters" have taken it upon themselves to single out as the pantomime baddie. I've watched the Gordon Mairs, Andy Roddie's, John Davies, Joe McLeod's etc being systematically torn apart from the terraces/stands at FP & believe me Hately is a much better player than any of them. To me the underlying anti-Rangers feeling due to his father is the main issue here & nothing to do with Hately's ability. I also honestly believe that's why McCall doesn't get the credit he deserves either. Not many will admit it I'm sure but in my mind it's there & needs to be kicked into touch. As for Hately missing the pen, I certainly wasn't confident about us scoring it no matter who took it but after listening to the game on radio, they mentioned two Celtic players were booked in the lead up to it & they were up complaining the ball wasn't on the spot etc to put pressure on the taker plus just about the only time you could hear their support was the whistling & jeering as he stepped up. A real pressure situation if ever there was one compared to being 4-1 up & looking to slot away your hat-trick. Gutted he missed but at least he had the baws to take it.
A wee bit of support goes a long way rather than constantly abusing the team & management. Try the get behind the team method on a Saturday, it's no' as bad as it seems................

Just about the perfect day. Watched Motherwell serving up an absolutely sensational performance & then after a wee cargo up to Melting Pot at Girdwoods to continue the party with another 30-40 Well fans givin' it large to some fantastic choons. Totally buzzin' after a great day & night.

Being honest they are probably the best team I've saw at Easter Road this season. Done their best to keep it on the ground. Played with two pacey wingers and in all honesty got what they deserved.
Why can't we do it? Wish we knew cause we could maybe sort it. But there is attitude problems all around and that's the biggest thing for me
Can we sign Hateley, Higdon, Hammell and Law in januray?
They have what we've not had in 5 or 6 years - pace, width, drive. Great side to watch in full flow - credit to McCall and 'Well, great wee side

cheers Madscot. Now, even better check out the Motherwell link on hibs.net forum. All McCall's detractors should have a look at that & see what other teams fans think of our management & team. Guaranteed it's not only Hibs fans that think that way. Deal with supporters of most Scottish teams through work & they rave about not only our manager but by & large our players who some of our fans see fit to slaughter either on here or worst still at FP constantly.

How good is it to be walking out of Fir Park listening to Kool & the Gang rather than Chumba-f*ckin-wumba???
Said before it I'd take a shitty 1-0 but magic seeing some goals at FP after that barren spell & fair play to County who everyone has been slaughtering as a park the bus team. Got to say they came & had a go & just great to get the result.

Certainly not a classic by any means but watched most of the "best league in the world" live games over the weekend & the only difference was the fact that the stadiums are full & the atmosphere is a hundred times better. All the games were completely devoid of chances with teams cancelling each other out completely. The only way to counter that is to make it a fiver to get in & dish out free tickets to the schools for these live games to at least try & make the place look busier & try to generate some sort of atmosphere. The money we get from Sky or ESPN should make up for the shortfall in the money made at the gate & the club would surely make more money from the Cooper bar, pie stalls & club shop in my opinion.
Nothing worse than watching your team on the tv & folk commenting it was like watching an amateur game at the local park cos there's naebody there.

One of my old favourites was ian Clinging. never see his name mentioned much on here at all for some reason. Hardly a pick on him but he could beat players and score goals and a local lad from wishaw ( i think ) did he ever play for anyone other than us?
lucky enough to play against both Ian Clinging & Joe Wark when they played for Wishaw High School FP's over 35's a few years back. Joe would have been late 40's/early 50's & I think Clinging was a few years younger but still some player. Thoroughly enjoyed playing against him in centre mid. My wee mate who's a big Well fan too fouled him at one point & as he went to take the free kick quickly my mate stood in front of him & started giving him verbals along the lines of "whit dae you know aboot fitba". Clinging was chuckling to himself as I pulled my mate aside & explained he was a former Motherwell legend & to wind his neck in.
Cue the rid neck & a quick few steps back to let him take the foul.

Maxwell saved a skiter of a shot & Jock Brown came out with "that must have been like saving a bar of soap" & Andy Gray (I think) came out with some gash like "that was even more difficult than catching a bar of soap, cos it's round & bobbling all the way"
