  1. The ladies lined up against an unbeaten Cumbernauld Colts side at Broadwood on Sunday, a tough challenge following a very disjointed and uncharacteristic defeat at the hands of Hibs last week.

It was clear from the start our girls had a real sense of intent and were fired up for the match, It took 19 minutes to break the deadlock and it was first blood Motherwell, goals from Suzanne Grant Helen (Disby) Templeton and Sophie Gallacher led 'Well to a worthy 3-0 lead before an unfortunate OG with the keepers momentum carrying her with the ball in her hands back into the goalmouth.

A great team performance all round spirit fight and determination served up in spades.

Motherwell Ladies sit top of the league by virtue of superior goal difference.

  2. I have the fear about this, Accies will press and harass us when we have the ball giving no time to get it down and play, we on the other hand will stand off them or run alongside them giving time and space to do what they will.

Combined with the horrible plastic pitch and their physical presence( they will get away with far more against us than they did against Celtic) we'll be fortunate to come away with a point, we've looked less than convincing most of the season and have to go back to December to see us win more than one in a row.

  3. Does anyone else find the posts we see on here after almost every game calling the opposition "very physical and cynical" laughable? It's football ffs and we have the likes of Pearson in our team. No need.

I was surprised we got something from the encounter, for all that we are easily bullied both on and off the ball, we have a few capable of "meaty challenges" however a few who seem scared to tackle/be tackled sometimes.

  4. We don't make decisions like this based on 'it's whoever'.

A minutes silence will be observed impeccabley by the Well fans. And the respect we have for Joe will be shown.

If any scumbag wants to show the nation that they are scumbag, let them.

Fair comment, I suspect though that in general this was one of the driving factors in moving from traditional "Minutes Silence" to whatr seems more commonplace "minutes applause".

That having said I would bet the farm that every single 'Well Fan as you say will observe a minutes silence impeccably, and for my money the silence is more appropriate

  5. Thistle boss a bit rattled by the prospect of a big away support https://m.facebook.com/partickthistlefc/photos/a.749434111787983.1073741928.208968199167913/901384436592949/?type=1&source=48

    Message from Alan Archibald:

Saturday’s match is now vital and, with the visitors making noise about their biggest travelling support of the season, I need you to turn up and out sing our rivals for the final push towards safety. Share this with every Thistle fan in your phone book, tag any of your pals who haven’t been to Firhill for a while, email every Jags fan you know and get them to Firhill on Saturday. Get behind me, get behind the team & together we can do this.

  6. Its wrong to focus blame on George Long last night. In general he was continually left far too exposed by his 2 full backs and central defence. Aberdeen were afforded far too much time on the edge of our box and on the wings and it was no surprise they scored 2 goals. We have to start protecting the keeper far more. If the opposition can't get in shots or crosses they won't score - end of.

Never fails to amaze me how easily some players are either not criticised or defended, the above argument was frequently made for Dan Twardzik and was roundly shot down in several instances.

Every player in every game is responsible for winning that game, and when they do not must be equally culpable.

  7. Are you sure Dee? I saw quite a few players come over to applaud the fans at full time. Can't recall exactly but it must have been 7 or 8 at least. Agree that our best players were the new lads.

A few came over and stopped a few metres back from the fans but to his credit John Sutton came right over and engaged with the fans.

  8. The only saving grace is a game in hand over St Midden, although no Guarantees we'll win it.

Next week should be interesting Louis Laing back from suspension hopefully Pearo back from injury.

The gaffer is going to have to show balls and drop Lasley and McManus among others.

  9. Very small concern and only my personal opinion which I appreciate has no bearing on our current situation

But I think flow should pass the Batton over when it comes to interviewing the manager after a game

As GM and technically his boss it doesn't sit right with me

He's in a high level of responsibility now and I think jobs like this don't enhance the need for the required respect he should now demand in his position

I get this is small and irrelevant to most and il prob get cained for bringing it up, but I think as a club across the board we have a way of coming across a tad amateurish ( this isn't a word I'm keen on using here but best describes where I'm coming from)

I think it's a very valid point however minor it is symptomatic of how the club is being run, the media manager position was advertised but clearly not filled.

  10. I don't disagree (on the broader point), G&F.

However, since being in post, I've hired one full-time person, the physiotherapist Aileen Anderson, which wasn't down to association or family ties, and "promoted" one (Katie McCrossan) who had worked at the club for some time on a P/T basis, but has replaced Alison Wallace, who has moved to the MFC Community Trust.

We've advertised for another, albeit had to put it on hold for a variety of reasons.

The Telesales Training team has been formed from current staff from three different departments, aimed at giving them new skills. We've got literally thousands of people to contact. We don't have the resource to do that in anything like a sensible time frame (nor the resource to outsource to a call centre), which is why we've developed this scheme. It gives staff another string to their bow over a longer term, and allows us to try and meet some of the objectives and targets we've set out.

We've had some decent feedback both on the phones and posted on this forum, on another thread. This email, a real error in judgement, has been a setback, but as I said in the last post, it certainly won't happen again.

    Cheers,

Trainees in any capacity will make mistakes that s how they learn, myself and some friends have experienced it there was some confusion over a hospitality booking but a quick call to Di sorted it, net result of someones enthusiasm and lack of experience is a hospitality booking for 7 and the discussion surrounding what was/wasn't included has led to a party booking for 12 so not all bad.
