  1. would the club be interested in volunteer ball boys for saturday ........maybe a few thousand of them ?

    :whistling:

    just a thought

I've got a Hi Viz Jacket and an attitude I could stand at the end section and glower at the Bois.

  2. I have only a slightly better chance of a ticket as I arrive 8.30 am Thursday. Be straight to the stadium to see if any left. When I called the ticket office on Friday to enquire about tickets I was told the Icelanders offered 160. No idea what had changed. I assume you can only but one ticket? I know it's not motherwells fault but there will be fans miss out on a ticket that have not missed a match in ages, just because they arrive a bit early. Not exactly rewarding loyalty

You have a better chance than me I don't get there until 14:00 Thursday, so I'll be behind the goal with Julian!

  3. Graham Barnstaple has temporarily stepped back from his role as chairman because of work and family commitments.

Graham will still be involved in the society and remains committed to its goals but is unable devote the time necessary to lead efforts at the moment. Brian McCafferty will act as chairman for the time being.

Other board members and volunteers are continuing to work on membership recruitment, fundraising events, communications/publicity and membership participation.

  4. Flights and hotel booked, Welcome Break card identified to go for wee jaunts while in Iceland.

What are people doing for match tickets?

Well I'm kinda waiting for some sort of announcement, I'm really hoping the game is moved.

Their stadium only holds 1000(Bangor took 80, pretty sure we'll have more than that).

Saw a rumour it may be moved to the National Stadium in Reykjavik but I suspect at 1500 that would be too big.

There is a 4000 all seater in Keflavic so that mught be a possibility.

  5. Still no sign of a league sponsor it would appear. Doncaster has a lot to answer for.

The more cynical among us would expect that to suddenly change if you know who were to avoid liquidation 2 and return to the premiership whistling.gif

  6. "The captain has signed up again....now it's YOUR turn."

Predictable, but I'm absolutely ok with it.

I'd be fine with that yes predictable with just a hint of cheese, and maybe a wee email from the manager and the skipper. whistling.gif

  7. We already do that

When did that happen? I hadn't realised that our stadium name was available to the highest bidder. How much does it cost?

Well we do it with one stand, The Maxim Office Park South Stand not sure who would want to sponsor the East Stand and we cannot change the names of the POD or Cooper stands

  8. Firstly, its almost certain that Lee Hollis will be leaving. We simply cannot afford to keep 3 senior keepers on our books and Gunnar has one more year left on his contract.

I'm a wee bit disappointed with this signing. Dan Twardzik did well for us in his loan spell but he is still weak in the air and won't solve our problem in that respect. We're seem to be fast running out of options to address our defensive frailties. With the exception of Hutchy it seems as though the other defenders will be much the same as last season. Twardzik is not the answer to our aerial weaknesses. We can then only look to midfield to improve defensively and we've just signed an attacking midfielder. Maybe SM is going to be even more gung ho next year. "Happy to lose 2 goals every game we'll just go out and score 3" Confused.dot.com

I have a horrible feeling he will go on to be one of "those" players who can do no wrong irrespective, however time will tell if signing Dundees 3rd choice keeper is a better move than when we signed Airdries 3rd choice keeper.

  9. leeann said they would try and ring fence the money. there was no guarantee or obligation.

do you really think they have an account set aside with the £150,000 the society paid for 6% of the shares?

Leads us back to the communications aspect, I have often suggested the WS board should get more involved in these types of forums

  10. i thought that as well but that turned out not to be true.

the society has to purchase the shares from the club at a ridiculously high price which the society board have made no attempt to negotiate on.

The Well Society does not require to "purchase the shares" in the traditional sense but rather raise the required funds which will be ring fenced to provide what will be in effect a bank of last resort to ease problems caused by the cyclical nature of football finances.

John Boyle donated the shares to be held in trust, additional shares in the club were purchased normally as there was no facility in the rules to "lend the club money"( This was changed)

However this only serves to highlight the lack of clear concise communication.
