  1. He's quoted a saying in the press that he wants to stay its now time to back that up by signing a new deal.

There is wanting to stay and being able to afford to stay. We will be offering him a contract on reduced terms and he may not be able to afford to accept the wage drop.

  2. Not sure that it's inevitable i mean Ross Co, Killie, Partick, Accies if they stay up won't be in a much better position going into the summer. We will lose players it just depends if we can replace them with half decent ones which for every position other than the forwards wouldn't be difficult.I'd be surprised if we're not in the bottom half next season but 8th/9th isn't beyond us with a few decent signings.

With the financial backing that Thistle are getting, along with County having a wealthy man behind them, I can see them both being better than us going forward. You are then looking at potentially losing Accies this season and replaced by Falkirk/Dundee United who both have the potential to be atleast as good as us (and possibly better).

It doesn't leave much at the bottom to be scrapping it out with...

  3. Lets not pretend that the performance on Saturday was anything but piss poor. The standard of football played was dreadful but we got the three points, which was the main aim.

Don't think anyone really stood out for me as a MOTM as it was such a dull encounter. Griffiths doesn't fill me with confidence and look extremely nervous anytime a high ball came into him. Going on the very little I have seen him, I wouldn't be pursuing him for a permanent move in the summer.

It looks like we might just crawl over the line now, which will be a massive relief. With the improvement that Hibs will bring to the league, I can only see a further struggle next season and I reckon we have only just delayed the inevitable for relegation for another 12months.

  4. Mannus is a very good goalkeeper and would be an improvement on what we currently have in our side. I will be very disappointed if we go into 2017/2018 season with Samson as number one, despite an improvement in performance since the turn of the year.

  5. The days of it bothering me, still, on a Monday morning are long gone for me. I wouldn't quite say I was fine 5 minutes later, but for example I went to the Dundee game recently with a Dundee supporting mate and sat in the Main Stand with him. Half an hour after the game, we were laughing in the pub talking about other stuff. It no longer has THAT effect on my life.

Don't get me wrong, I still have that feeling when Motherwell score and when Motherwell win, but that the extremes of winning and losing aren't as far apart as they used to be.

If Motherwell went bust tomorrow? I'd be sad. I'd be disappointed. However, my life would carry on just fine. Where I am now, there are many, many more important things in life than Motherwell FC.

I'm probably closer to your view than Fraz's. Whilst I wouldn't say I am over it immediately after a poor result, I cant remember the last time I woke up on a Sunday morning when it was still bothering me. I used to watch highlights and dissect every error shown but that is long gone, with me rarely even watching highlights out with those shown on Goals on Sunday.

Everyone is different, but for me its more than a hobby but not my life.

  6. As regards the Cooper Stand that started being developed at the end of the 1993'94 season. I think the terracing was still in use the night I was referring to (93'94) and a large number of 'Well fans took the opportunity to stand for the last time at Fir Park in the final game of the season against St Johnstone a week or two later.

100% correct. That St Johnstone game (which I think we lost 1-0) was my one and only match in the North Stand terracing. I was an East Stand kid but was taken in there for the final match of that season.

I am also sure that I was mascot in that Dundee United match you describe...

  7. New goalkeeping coach marlon Beresford

Has possibly come from a link to Robinson/Craigan as he was previously involved with the Northern Ireland Youth set up.

Edit - Just read on the official site that he played with Robinson. Clearly the link!

  8. Underwhelming if that is the case Mitch.

If we had confidence in Robinson, why go through this process?

The only other candidate that was considered for the role isn't even on the SkyBet market. Only two interviewed for the job and they are going with Robinson.

Edited to add - I've not been told the reason why they have taken this long but my guess would be that the people we wanted were not interested.

  9. I went into the local BetFred and Willie Hills and there was no market for it! Had to bet online

Whilst I have no access to the facts and figures to back this up, I suspect that the overall amount staked on our next manager (across all bookies that have the market open) will only be a 3 figure sum. Fans will throw a token amount at a name, but it is not a market that will attract large sums. The moment a bookie takes a large sum on one person in a market with such little going through it, then they will close the market quickly.
