  1. I really think your right Dewel, i can feel it, very strange feeling about this one, confidence is high, same team just find a spot for Lasley, why change the winning product!

So you'd have Humphrey maintain a starting place while one of our form players this season maintains a seat on the bench as a consequence of his sending off?

You canny see the wood for all the tree's eh? With those blinkers on you should be in the 4th race at Sandown tomorrow.

  2. queens park game in the cup where they were giving out free whisky was my auld mans fav

    [pumped 1-3 or 0-3 ]

Isn't this in the wrong thread? By putting hit here you've brought an old, old thread back to life .... Do your taps run with Ouzo in Cyprus?

  3. Tartan Special - Glacit Del scored in that game too eh? Now that was a rare occurrence on top of a rare occurrence.

Quite a regular thing 20 years ago, but you couldn't whack "Psycho's gonna get you" with a stick, what made it even better, you knew he would.

Many of my best moments have been listening to some of the one liners fired towards the pitch. Too many to recall or consigned to memory, just there were a few teakers.

Games, Falkirk replay (floodlight failure?) about 15 years ago when they gave everyone a piece of photocopied paper, next week, half of Lanarkshire was inside Brockville doing the bouncy.

  4. Lasley in for Humphrey we have a chance by flooding the midfield, Lasley in for Forbes then we'll be effectively a man down from kick off based on what I've witnessed and read this season.

Let Humphrey come on as an impact player and give them the runaround in the last 30 minutes when they are tired and he is fresh. Maybe that will be the catalyst to better form.

  5. I'd be delighted with 0-0... another point and another clean sheet.

I'd be happy, based on our past 9 year record against them (last win, December 26th 2002) however based on the past few weeks and were we aspire to, then you have to cast you minds back to the mid 90's and a few seasons to when we finished in the top 3.

In some of those seasons (particularly the 90's ones) we generally took anything from 4-7 points off each of the OF. I'd like to think we're back in those heady days again now. I'm figuring it would be hard in the current climate to get anything at Greyskull or the Piggery.

So let's be optimistic and look to take maximum points next week, Rangers got through in Inverness with disputed penalties and seem to have a lot going on behind the scenes. However they were by far an away our Achilles heel last season combine that with the almost 9 year jinx.

  6. Just interested to know what those who were there made of the formation change to 4-3-3 as reported to the BBC before the game by McCall.

Was that responsible for St. Mirren's 1st half dominance? Did they play well, us poor? Or are they just a better team than they were last season and everyone has underestimated them?

Love to speak to Chick Young and advise him his prediction for Danny Lennon for August Manager of the Month is long gone.

4 games in, no goals conceded, 10 out of 12 points, there's yer dinner!

  7. I thought Ross Forbes did really well in the centre, all the first team fringe players seemed that little bit more polished and composed, McKinnon however was the exception to that rule, as discussed above, he was excellent.

  8. Discussing this on Sunday, me n my mate thought it was bag of matchballs or a set of strips we were due them. 90K??? Having a laugh!!!!

I can understand why UEFA implemented the ruling but the transient nature of this guy's career to date suggests he'll only be taken on if a manager takes a real shine to him in a relatively affluent league (£85k for a young, untried amateur needs a fair bit of acumen/balls to take a punt on him).

In doing this, UEFA have probably consigned this guy to never stepping up to the next level due to the ball and chain that comes with his signature.

  9. PRO's

    2nd half

    Hateley recapturing his form

    Higdon's timing

The result - games like that is what you need to grind out to be champions B-)

    League table

Mood on the Hearts bus on the way back to the capital

    CON's

    1st half

The attitude of many of the support to John Sutton

    Lasley's red

Humphrey's decision making (apart from the cross he put inch perfect onto Jamie's forehead)

NB Is it just me or would it appear that Law and Hammell have been tasked with more defensive duties than they were before? There doesn't seem to be the same overlaps and triangles between them and Murphy as there was in earlier games.

  10. I'm with Finlay, Hearts two best chances came through Saunders mistakes (to be fair he hasn't been used much).

    Hutch into centre half

    Hateley where he is

Forbes on - Carswell to replace when his engine inevitably runs out

Saunders onto right back and Hateley to defensive midfield at the expense of a striker if we're defending a lead

10 points from 12, job done.

  11. I like it when its like this, there are about half a dozen in the running.

Craigan didn't put a foot wrong (apart from his cross field pass that went down the tunnel).

Higdon won almost everything, this is him delivering what we expected

Law deft touch was integral, seems to have been tasked with a more defensive role than the freer, "get yourself forward son" one he displayed in the friendlies.

I thought Murphy had squandered his chance but composure got us the three points.

Randolph had an amazing one handed save that showed his class.

Lasley didn't use his head with 5 minutes to go but battling performance.

My vote goes to Tom Hateley, not been among the winners for quite a while and sterling performance today.

  12. Aye thats it Kiddie Fiddler Utd, ask us not to bring up something that is outwith your control then have a dig at us over stuff we had no control over.

We're currently in the black, and have been for 6 out of the last 7 seasons. How's things looking over in the capital? The Ūkio Bankas account must be interesting reading at present, have they got you in the red or is it maroon shade to the tune of £20-30m.

  13. connotations of slavery. chris humphrey doesnt run down the wing for me or anyone else, chris humphrey runs down the wing because chris humphrey wants to run down the wing.

Chris Humphrey runs down the wing because the team I support and contribute financially to pays his salary and gives him employment. Therefore I look upon it as he's doing it for me, however lets not micro-analyse the semantics of the exact phrase.

Simple way to resolve this: Replace "Chris Humphrey" with "Nicky Law" and would there be the same bullshit thread? (That's no reflection on Rico for being prompted to start it).

Personally, I for one would approach Chris and say "this is what we were singing, do you have any issues at all with it in any way, shape or form?" if not then I'd stand up to the uber-PC brigade who perceive outrage when there is none and tell them where to go.

  14. Did they really need to waste space, that could have been filled with constructive and interesting feedback, for comments from people who are clearly special?

What 2 or 3 out of over 40 or so listed responses? It would have been designed to add a little respite to the 50 pages of sometimes dry content in the document.

Of course, you could be moaning for the sake of it.

  15. Yes and no, too many wayward passes in both league games in the middle third. Law offers a bit of balance and means we aren't as reliant on Humphrey. I don't look at the last 6 games as any guide as McCall was tinkering.

Some may have been fooled by the ICT game, I thought if they went 2-1 up as they should have (Foran's 20 yeard miss and hitting the post) then it would have obviously changed the game in the second half and we wouldn't be sitting in first place. So far we've yet to see how we cope coming from behind (nice place to be granted). Terry Butcher's summary was pretty much on the button for me.
