In an ideal world mate ................... but that world is a long way off. Some of us on here can mind being one of only a handful of 'Well fans surrounded by 25,000 Buns/Tims in our own ground, so things have improved. Bit to go yet though, it would appear.
Used to go watch the team train when I was back shift, even gave Cleland/Irvine/Rafferty/Carson a lift back to FP after training down the Ashy. Got quite pally with Marshall and One Willie Irvine after a supporters dinner. Marsh used to live near my work in Carrick Knowe and bumped into him a few times, and Willie Irvine invite me and my ex out for a few drinks with his wife back when I lived in Livi and he lived in Whitburn
Cusack and Phsyco were regulars when I worked in the Rococo .... fun days
Segregation I'd say .........................pity we can't turn the clock back over 30 years for a visit of the Jambo hordes. The East Stand is a covered terrace before the fence was built and OB create a 5 yard wide no mans land down the middle of the terracing. 40 OB or so are supported by half-a dozen police dogs on either side keeping hundreds of the long haired bovver boys apart, but when a goal is scored the gap is breached and all hell breaks loose.
Ah the days
Everton were founder members of the Football League and I seem to remember hearing on tv they have competed since 1888 without being relegated.
+ we have to remember that in the early years promotion and relegation was not automatic. One was voted up or down
I put an old MFC hat on e-bay, suggesting that it might be an appropriate disguise for a Tim with a 'Well end ticket. However, I did intimate that their squinty puss would no doubt give the game away anyway ..................... got plenty plaudits from fans of non Mauldeez teams
20yrs in top flight = 40pts + 6 for Cup win ................. 46pts for last 20 years. By my reckoning we'd be = with Aberdeen but above Hibs and R Shyte, but behind the Mauldeez and the Jambos.
