  1. We do water the pitch at FP using sprinklers, which are centrally placed, and therefore gives the ball a bit more zip when being passed about, as well as the downside of players falling on their arses occasionally. Legend does have it that proponents of a long ball style would, instruct groundsmen to leave grass slightly longer in the corners so that ball would stick when hoofed up the channels. Canny do this with plastic obvs. The dark arts of groundsmanship eh?
  2. If you water any pitch in the corners, you're encouraging the ball to run out and not hold up, therefore affecting the chances created versus potential set pieces.
  3. Caught a cold I heard. First thing he'll have caught this season...
  4. I'm a glass half full type of guy, but after that, we look doomed. We created a decent amount of chances, our supposed top level striking duo Moult and McDonald did not look interested in getting on the end of them (both will be elsewhere next season) and Robbo, after dropping Samson for errors, inexplicably brings on Jules for Hammel, who then has a complete brain fart leading to their goal. The board are culpable for taking the easy option in hiring Robbo, who's clearly well out his depth. Their decision looks increasingly to be leading to a good few years in the lower tiers for our club. Spent my Saturday dinner time explaining to my kids what relegation is.
  5. Possession doesn't win games, goals do. Dundee clearly sat deep and tried to hit on the break. They also attacked the weaker side of our 3 man defence. Number of goals conceded owing to our (Samsons) f***-ups = 1. Number of goals conceded owing to defensive weakness down right = 2.
  6. Missed the first goal as I was out getting a pie. Thank **** I didny come back early, I'd have been done for assault on Samson with a pie. So the new manager bounce is rapidly turning into the dead cat variety. Robbo clearly thinks that because 3 at the back worked at Ibrox, he'll use it in every game. As per my MOTM post, a trained chimp could've done what McCann did yesterday - keep it tight, double up on wide men, and attack the weaker right hand side of the defence from which two of their goals came from. Cadds ain't a full back. Is Robbo culpable? In terms of tactical inflexibility yes. But, in the clear case of him no' fancying any of the U20s as cover at right back, why the **** would you release both Kennedy and Laing who have done a decent (albeit not a full Taiters) covering job there? We're over staffed with duds in midfield, with no adequate cover in central defence and right back, and both Bowman and the other target man non entity have been utterly, utterly useless. We're paying the price for poor squad transfer/release decisions and have taken the easy option with McGhee's replacement who is, at least in part, culpable for some of these. The board are clearly weak in this regard, and are also to blame to an extent. I hope we can pull it out the bag next two games, but if we don't, a few seasons in Division One beckon, not a great start to the fan-owned era.
  7. Frear was double marked the whole game, McCann admitted their game plan was to nullify Frear and Cadden and sit tight, hit us on the break. He also clearly targeted the right hand side of defence as it was non-existent and exposed - Cadds ain't a wing back, odd that we dont even have one suitable right back from the youth ranks, and have to go with a 3? The kind of decision that gets you relegated/costs you your job.
  8. Skippy for me just shading Samson for some great stops, and Campbell who really came on to a game as it went on. Hammy has his best game for ages I thought
  9. Totally underwhelmed. Club has missed a serious chance to get a fresh perspective and reinvigorate itself. Relegation beckons, the last two results have been the classic dead cat bounce...
  10. If it's accompanied by a 2 mill transfer cheque, I would not care a jot...we'll have done our job as a club.
  11. He's only contracted with Raith until end of season. I'd take Yogi over Elvis any day of the week, passion, enthusiasm, had ICT playing some great stuff while he was there, overachieved with a top 3 finish *and* won a cup. Don't underestimate the club needs someone to galvanise the fans and the team - Yogi's a big enough personality to do this. Elvis, Robbo, Simo not so much...possibly sentiment from older fans for SImo.
  12. Encouraged by Hughes being on there if true, he's been my 1st choice from get-go. For me what swings it for me over Coyle is that Coyle only will see us as stepping-stone/reputation rebuilding short-term opportunity, then he'd be off in couple of years. Both are equally as experienced in Scottish football, Hughes arguably gets teams playing better. Fan ownership also important, Duffy a no-no for this reason, Hughes a real enthusiastic figurehead who could build bridges with fans. Still Yogi for me.
  13. Probably got enough banked from pay-offs and sees us as a stepping stone to get his career back on track I guess
  14. Owen Coyle talking to club tomorrow according to reliable inside source
  15. I'd have practically any of our outfield 11 in goals ahead of Samson...
  16. Interesting site, kinda like Moneyball for managers. Stephen Glass' OBP looks interesting...
  17. It's not how he talks or what he says, it's what he gets teams doing on the park that counts. You could easily do a Yogi catchphrase bingo, "thae boys", "honest", "ma philosophy", "gave it everyfing oan the park" which'd be more varied that counting "you know"s. Having sat through Saturdays dross, I'd bite yer hand off for some pressing, possession-based stuff of the latter ICT Yogi era, catchphrase bingo or not.
  18. Shame Yogi Hughes joined Raith Rovers, always liked his philosophy and he had ICT playing some great stuff
  19. Joe McLeod was well-covered on the emoji front...
  20. Jambos fans allegedly singing at the Gers fans "F****ed by a laptop, oh you've been f*****d by a laptop...". #Bantz Looking forward to getting it right up Google Boy and the Gorgie hordes on Saturday...
